From the Associated Press Sports Wire -
On February 23rd, the World Champion Boston Red Sox revealed plans for their much anticipated championship ring ceremony. After much thought, the Red Sox brass decided that handing out the rings during the Red Sox first home game against their rivals, the New York Yankees, would be appropriate. While the Red Sox and their fans could not have picked a more fitting time to have this ceremony, angry Yankee fans flooded the Red Sox front office last week with complaints that this ceremony would be near sacreligous.
"We have 26 World Championships" one caller said. "This was purely intentional to make us suffer one more time!" "This is downright bull*#@t!" another screamed. Although Yankee fans seethed with anger over the timing, Yankee captain Derek Jeter seemed a little more diplomatic about it "They won, what can I say? They deserve to be champions." "They beat us four straight, they beat St. Louis four straight, so they deserve the right to go ahead and celebrate."
After receiving well over a hundred calls, Red Sox management put their heads together and found a way to make everyone happy. Shortly after the on-field ceremony and the raising of the World Series championship pennant, the Red Sox players and management will present the New York Yankees with gold and diamond chokers!
Sorry, I couldn't resist!!!
