I did it about 3 times, and in my experience, I got a lot of food that I could probably buy for around the same price at Aldi. It was a lot of processed food, and nothing was fresh. It would be good to help with the food budget, but I wouldn't plan on it as my only source of food. It wouldn't be too much food for one, because most of the items are in larger packages where he could take out what he would use, and save the rest for later. The quality of the stuff that I got was about the quality of the cheapest stuff you could buy at the grocery store, but then there were some brand name items too. In the 3 times I did it, I got a ton of breaded chicken (breasts, 2 bags of thighs, tenders, and popcorn type chicken), dried beans, peanut butter, Old El Paso nacho flavored taco shells, a roll of ground beef, cereal, frozen mixed vegetables, Mrs. Smith's pies (one apple, one pumpkin cream), BBQ ribs (they were fatty and tough), dry rice, margarine, Oscar Meyer lunch meat (this was pretty good), plus a lot more I can't remember. I stopped getting it because I thought I could probably get as much value for my $30 at a grocery store and I could get items that were more suited to my tastes. Also, I didn't plan my meals well, so a lot of the Angel Food food went to waste. I have friends who have gotten the food regularly for a couple of years (they have 5 kids) and they just love it. I would suggest to try it once or twice and see if works for your Father. When I did it, it was the middle of winter, so maybe they get more fresh foods in summer.
