Angie's List - Has anyone used them?

We're thinking of doing some work in our home and wondering if anyone's used the above list..... This is a consumer opinion list of various contractors in the area..... You have to pay a monthly fee for it. Thank's for any info!

Angie's list is based out of the town I live in. If you are doing LOTS of work and need many different contractors, then it's a good deal. Not worth the money per year if you are only using the list occassionally.

The person I contacted for some work said he was on this list - just wondering if I should pay to find out as we've had some bad luck in the past with household repairs.

Maybe I'll just join for a month of access at $14.00.... then I can wait and see if I like it..... any other opinions would be appreciated!

We have used it in the past, had mixed luck. They only give you 2 or 3 names at a time, so I would continue to call back as it seemed that the big companies were always given out first.

I would check out any contractor with the BBB.

I just wanted to bump this up as I am interested in this as well. We are having some pretty major work done and in theory, this sounds great. I just don't know.
