Good morning friends, and thanks for the congrats.

Happy Birthday Brendan :jumping3:

Happy Birthday Kaitlin :Pinkbounc

It is cold here but not cold enough to close schools. That really is OK though because most of the classes are review for next weeks finals.

Off to look for the riddle.

Happy Birthday Kaitlin!

sorry I missed this earlier

Where has everyone gone? I guess it is up to me to talk with myself for my.....

3,000th post!

Whew, that was exhausting.

My work here is done.:wave2:

Woohooo...congrats LK......looking forward to the next 3000

Man, y'all are just chatty! I joined a lot earlier than LK, and looky me, still not even 2500! Oh well. If Pete wasn't traveling, I think I would go ahead on to WDW, but somebody has to watch the pooches. Poor thinhs are freezing, the heater just can't keep up with the temp, we have the thermostat set on 69 and it's about 64, and never ending............. Of course if this house had better insulation, it would help. I am afraid I gave the realtor an earful yesterday about this place. She says, just make a list and let the owner know, she will send somone over. Hmmm, Dear Owner, please have someone come over and insulate the floors, attach the gutters so they aren't falling down over EVERY DOORWAY, jack the house up so it is level, relevel the dishwasher and refridgerator, etc etc etc. Yeah, like that will happen.

No snow down here Stephanie, just cold as can be, it was actually up to minus 2 but now back to minus 5. Maybe this means it will be an early spring??????????

LK - Congrats on 3000 posts!

Marsha - you should have plenty of time now to DIS and catch up to her! Keep yourself and those doggies warm! I say tell that realtor to torch the place and it will be all better. Of course, have her wait until you move!

At least we only had to wait less than 5 minutes at the bus stop this morning so it wasn't that bad. Doing some cleaning today for the family b'day party on Sunday - had to have my DIS break though!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Kaitlin.
She enjoyed seeing them.

Surprised her and picked her friend up to go to Krispy Kreme with us. Got our free hot donuts (does anybody ever say No thanks to a free hot donut when they ask?), and three dozen to take to school.

Ran errands.
Now I have to turn around and pick up DS from kindergarten!

Congrats on 3000 posts.
I'm pushing 500 soon! Woo Hoo. I might catch up someday!;)

have a good day!
At least the sun is out!!:sunny:
That is something we rarely see in Pittsburgh!

I was productive this morning - went to step class and then shoveled the driveway. A lot of the snow is packed down, but hopefully the sun will melt most of it.

Last year for her birthday, we got Leah the Little House series of books. (BTW MP, I saw on your website how you visited the different locations in the books - what a great idea!) She likes to read them before she goes to sleep. Last night, she came out and asked me "What does 'Jack went to the great hunting land in the sky' mean?" (Jack is the dog) I told her it meant the dog passed away, and she said that is what she thought it meant. She had a sad look on her face so I asked her if she was ok. She said yes and went to bed. Minutes later, you could hear this sobbing in her room. I had to go in and comfort her for a long time - she was so upset. :( Poor kid. I swear I have two of the most emotional kids on the planet.

Aw LK. That is sweet. I grew up obsessed with all things Laura. My mom got a second set of the books, so that my brother and I could each have a set when we moved out. So my kids were listening to Little House books before they could read. That was a dream vacation for me! We had such a great time and saw lots of cool things along the way. I'm just a few hours from the Little House on the Prairie. Come and see me and we'll head up there!

I have to tell you guys a story. In one of her books, Laura describes a bread plate that she saves from the fire that destroyed their house when she was a newlywed. There is a drawing of it in the book. My mom used to have an antique shop, so we did lots of antiquing when I was a kid. I was always looking for a bread plate like Laura's. A couple of years ago, I looked on ebay and guess what? I not only found it, but I won it too. I'm so proud of that plate. :teeth: It's my favorite ebay find.

That's a great story about the bread plate, MP! Just curious - when you did the touring, did you go by yourself or was it a group led tour? I would enjoy taking Leah with me on a tour like that.

We did it on our own. Allen had given me a book of all the sites and what to see while you are there. We sat down at the computer and mapped out a route that would allow us to see both of the summer plays. Then we added in other items of interest, like the zoo in Omaha, Homestead National Monument, the Amana Colonies, Branson, etc. I'd be glad to share our route if you ever decide to do it on your own.

Aww, LK that is so sweet.
Kaitlin won't watch Bambi because she hates that Bambi's mother dies.
She can't seem to get into the Little House books. I keep trying to get her to read them because I loved them. She likes American Girl Doll books though!

Her new books that she is reading now are the Trixie Belden series. I read all of them when I was young and she is really enjoying them. ( I have to confess I am rereading them at night when she is asleep)

MP: I would love to do that tour some day. It sounds like fun!

 O.k who disconnected my computer after I just got done typing???

LK - do you think Leah would have the same response if something happened to Ariel, or is it just the characters in a book?

MP - great trip you planned out. My DD is only 4 so she is not into LHOTP yet. I must say though that I didn't like to read much of those kinds of books, just enjoyed watching the show. Could explain why I only like watching stuff on TV or at the movies instead of reading a book about it first.

Picked up a BIG chocolate chip cookie w/ Happy Birthday on it for DS. We are having cake on Sunday, so I thought this would be better for tonight.

Lorraine, save some of that chocolate cookie for me!

The thought of anyone or anything dying upsets my two a lot. A few months ago, my FIL told Logan that their cottage would belong to Logan and the other grandkids one day when Pappy and Grandma weren't here anymore. He dissolved into tears thinking that his beloved Pap Pap would die some day.

Donna - tell Kaitlin to start reading those books so we can take a road trip together! ::yes::

Hiya All :)

LK - Bless your children! I'm still exactly like that (Lion King without fail makes me cry for example, and many books do LOL)

Brendan - HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Kaitlin - HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO!

Wow, I'm jealous of all the birthday people, I like birthdays :)

With regards LHOTP, I've never watched it particularly (and never heard of a book series) but my Grandma loved it and said she thought I was named after the Melissa in that (not true but never mind :))

LK - Congrats on your 3,000th post!

I'm currently at home alone, he's left me for the night again... ah well (we don't need men around do we angels?! ;))

So, you'll probably see me on here quite a bit this evening, and I'm on AIM if you wanna chat!

Listening to JJ72 right now, did they ever make it to the States?

Cya,
Gaspode

Oops... we have dropped to page 2, guess I best start talking to myself to keep this thread in its rightful place at the top o' page 1

LOL....

I've been shopping for Amy all afternoon. She needed some spring things for the cruise. I got her the cutest black capris with cherries on them the other day. Today I got a shirt to go with them and found a matching cherry necklace when I passed Claires. Got her several dresses and a few tops too.

Melissa, the real Laura Ingalls wrote the series of books about her childhood. They are really nice stories! We were amazed at the number of people from foreign countries that signed the guest books at the different sites! Sorry I missed chatting with you. Maybe later?

I love giant cookies! Yum. Have fun tonight.

Amy liked the American Girl books. She still likes the dolls, but is getting a little old for the books. I think we have 3 dolls plus Bitty Baby. She doesn't really play with them anymore, but loves to dress them up and pose them in her room. :p

I read all the Trixie Belden books when I was little! Are they publishing them again? They were hard to find for a while.

I cry at the drop of a hat, too. Sad movies get me every time and I love tearjerker books.

I've never heard of Trixie Belden. I also liked to read all of the Nancy Drew books when I was younger.

MP - Leah wants me to ask you if "The Little House on the Prairie" is still standing?
