Hi All:

Just back from the doctor. Kaitlin's throat culture was positive for strept so now she is on Amoxicillin and will be better tomorrow!:p (LK: I hope we didnt spread the love around to all the kids!) She is happy on the couch with her movies and her popsicles............so I am going for a nap soon!

Lorraine: congrats to your family on the new baby! I would have went for Cole also.

Lars: the scrapbook sounds like a really nice memento for your inlaws....I am sure they will really appreciate it! Is the evil SIL doing a page too?;)

MP: hope it is cooler for you there today.

Alan and Lou:   y'all are too funny! (How did I do, Alan?)

Now Alan, I speak the language too. I just try to contain it on the boards where people don't share my lingo. I'll try to remember to throw in a few y'alls for you once in a while if it means that much to you.

Well I'm not one to get above my raisin' or put on airs but if you feel you need to....:teeth:

I'm kidding..I'm kidding..put down that....well, whatever it is y'all hit people with in Oklahoma.

I just thought it was extra cute coming from a Brit, because I knew she was really trying.

Donna, thanks for the shot, but somehow it's just not right from my PA Angels, lol. I enjoy hearing a "you guys" or "youse" (Jersey, I assume) or some other stuff from y'all as much as you do my colloquialisms.

Alan.......a lot of Pittsburghers say "yinz" ( from you ones....I think).......but you will NEVER EVER hear that from me!
I am guilty of saying you guys though!:p

from "you ones"

Don't ever make fun of anything I say then...:p

If I said Yinz, it would have to be an abbreviation for Young'uns

Lou, Young'uns refers to children and not middle aged men's fantasies btw.

No Alan, we certainly would NOT want to do that!;)

colloquialisms.

 Did it take you all morning to look up the spelling of that word??? ;)

I do not say yinz either. I remember a few years ago at work when I talked with a man from the south. In the slowest drawl imaginable, he told me "Boy, y'all sure do talk funny up there!" :p

Believe it or not, that one was off the cuff so no one is more surprised that it was spelled correctly then I am!

And your point is

Donna, let's try not to read between the lines shall we? :p

Donna - I hope Kaitlin will recover fast.

Lars - the scrapbook sounds like a great idea. i might have to use that idea.

Donna~The E-SIL iis the one who started the scrapbook:D
Glad that Kaitlin seems to be on the road to recovery:D

Alan~I understand you're way of talking cause I was raised by a Southern Daddy......youngins, ya'll....etc....all part of my daily conversation:D

I was once told by someone in our Atlanta office that I talk funny.

But for those of yinz, y'all, youse or anyone else who needs some help: Try Clicking Here

Thanks Lou.

I had looked about the 'Net and discovered there were transaltions for several different areas of Pennsylvania! I wasn't sure which Cranberry fell into or if it had its only special slang.

:o Glad my efforts were appreciated ;)

Anyways, any of 'yinz' (;)) notice anything different about me?!

Cya,
Gaspode

My dad is originally from Scranton area in PA and I enjoy listening to some of these translations when I'm there

they say enna(sp?) for isn't it or aint' it as in
"It's hot out today enna"

The o in coffee is said like you're saying ah at the doctors

The o in bold is said like the o sound in pool .......

Just their version of "Pahk the Cah in Hahvahd Yahd" ......

Of course all people in Connecticut speak normally ...;)

Besides your accent or word choice going horribly awry?

In the case of post count, Congratulations! Now stick around with us more regularly and it will go quicker. ;)

Congrats, Melissa on 1004 posts.

I am south of the Mason-Dixon line, just barely. I have always said y'all, which is of course plural for you. Baltimore has it's own accent. Water=wooder, fire=far, sink=zink. There are lots of them.

Good afternoon everyone!!:wave2:

E- I hope you are having a wonderful day , have been sending special reserve pixie dust (svpd) your way all morning.;)

I am gald to hear the little angle is on the mend (mmmmm popsicles)will send some SVPD to Kaitlin too

I just had someone come ring the bell and ask to see the house, of course I wouldn't be ready for it! :headache: I don't think he was that interested anyway so i'm going to try not to worry about it.

I decided to take my first foray into stamping, I'm sending the kids pictures from g's birthday party. I bought a cute little Micky Mouse stamp (just the head) and a few others with words. I had decided to get some of those brush stamp pens instead of ink pads and they seem to work pretty good on my test stamps so far. I have a question for the crafty ones......what do you clean the stamps with, or do you??

It's a perfectly sultry overcast day here so i'm gald to have a project and hang out in the AC!!

Ya'll have a great day now, ya hear? (how's that for texan?!)

omg I'm already at 500 posts :o I must have a lot to say!! LOL

I'll be back later to check on you.......be good!!
or at least be good at it!:p
