Good morning everyone! Got back from running some errands for me and something Luis wanted me to do for him. Tired today... I slept about 9 hours straight last night, and still feel like I could sleep all day long.

Merry, I'll have to remember that the next time Luis is gone. I do hope your dog's boil goes away soon. Sounds painful for her. Enjoy the market and Summerfest :)

Lorraine, not much longer now!!

Cat just plopped down on me... I love her but she makes it hard to type ;)

I'm doing some searching for scrapbook layout ideas. Guess I better get going and head to the market before everything is gone. :p

The sun is shining and DS mowed the grass. The day is looking promising. :sunny: Have a great Saturday everyone!

Since Cleo interrupted me by sitting on me, I didn't really finish what I was going to say ;)

Lars, have fun shopping!!! Very cool that Dylan enjoys it so much!

Carol, I hope all went well your last day at the fair!

Enjoy your sunshine Merry... I haven't seen it since I hit KY/Ohio yesterday morning.

My dad sent me an interesting article http://www.dailystandard.com/date/2003/01/20/news/headline1.htm
This lady is from the same town I lived in as a kid. My dad claims that it was the water in Minster that caused me to be such a Disney freak :p

Phew - I've had trouble getting onto the boards all morning. :(

Hope everyone heading off on vacation has a wonderful time!!!!

Hope everyone staying home doesn't work too hard!

I also have a link to post. Next Sunday we're heading to Maine for an overnight stay, using Starwood points we earned at the Dolphin. I want to go to LLBean in Freeport and we're also planning to head up the Maine coast for a drive. We're staying here!

Here is how rural my area is. I went out this morning to do some shopping. About 1-2 miles from home, the cars coming toward me were flashing their headlights so I slowed down. This is a road that is 1 lane in each direction, about 35mph, and no shoulders, just trees along the edge of the road. As I come around the curve, I see 2 bulls (or maybe they were cows, I didn't check their equipment) right along the side of the road. I certainly wouldn't want to hit them.

Gail, looks nice.

We live very close to several farms. We had just moved to NJ and I was on a similar road like you described. All of a sudden a farm hand comes out in the road and stops traffic. I'm sitting there saying to myself, what is going on here? Just then he proceeded to cross all of the cows from the farm across the road to the field for grazing. Now cows are not the fastest animals if you get my drift.

Having grown up in NYC I have been stuck in all kinds of traffic but never before had I sat waiting 10 minutes for cows to cross a road!

When I was about 19 I worked about 25 miles form my house......I drove freeway most of the way & it went through a very urban area on the outskirts of Detroit.........one day I was on my way home & got stopped in a traffic jam-no cars were moving at all-I heard on the radio that a truck carrying a bunch of cows had had a problem & there were cows roaming all over the freeway a few miles up from where I was:hyper: I sat in that traffic jam for a looooong time before they got those cows under control & back in their truck:rotfl: :rotfl: Driving through Deroit you just don't expect to be held up by cows!

~sigh~ you folks really don't have the time for all my cowcapades as a teen. Our favorite Friday night sport used to be cow-tipping......sheesh....seems awfully cruel now...but they never got hurt :o can't believe I just admitted that.

DH and I have decided to spend the day in different parts of the house, if you catch my drift...

Gail..I used to stay in Portland about once a month when I was working for my former employer....it's a nice property, you'll like it....it's the ROUND hotel!

Pretty Gail. I've never been to Maine, or much of anywhere on the east coast actually. I have been to DC a couple of times. I keep thinking we need to make a trip up that direction and see some angels in the process. ;) Who knows, maybe next year?

Gail, that place looks gorgeous! I am sure you will have a great time there!!

Love all the cow stories. I currently live about 1 block from corn fields and 2 blocks or less from a cow pasture. My grandparents on both sides owned farms, and on my Dad's side, they owned one until a year or so after my grandpa died (about 6 or 7 years ago). Cow tipping was definitely the thing to do around there (although I was too young when I moved to do it).

My favorite rural area to visit though, was in Germany... the town we stayed in would shut down the main street 2 times a day... once to get the cows out to pasture and once when they returned home. Not something I think I'd ever find here...

I live just over a block (as the crow flies) from a pasture with cows. We sometimes hear them mooing. There are lots more horse farms in my area though.

ok, wine is chilling, slip & slide is ready, tent is up, table and chairs are ready, and the house is clean. Now all I need is the guests.

MP...what kind of layout ideas do you need? try scrapjazz.com or lifetimemoments.com

Cows...when we were kids we spent the summers at Grandma's in Mass. Her brother still lived in the old family farm house, just across the dirt road. The family at the bottom of the dirt road raised dairy cows and rented my great-uncles land for grazing. We used to go out in the feilds, sit in the crab apple trees and toss the apples at the cows. When Grandma passed away I got one of the old cow-bells we had found in the feild. It's a neat reminded of the fun we had every summer.

OK, going to pour myself some wine...I figure if I am buzzed before anyone gets here I wont be too crabby, LOL

Bethany, I sorted almost a year of photos this week. I've stacked them on pieces of cardboard in a box. Now I'm adding papers and die cuts and page ideas to each layout set. This is my usual method for organized scrapping. If I have the sets ready, I can pull out one or two and put them together in nothing flat. I'm just trying to find the right idea and title for each layout. Thanks for the sites. I haven't been to lifetimemoments.

Amy was way too slow this morning. We were late to the market and most everyone was packed up. Guess I'll be going back on Wednesday. I did get a watermelon and a few tomatoes (but the tomatoes were from Texas and they're never as good when they're picked early).

Whew..

I've been a lawn mowin, weed-eatin, limb cuttin, errand runnin', bathroom cleanin machine......

Whodathunk that I would be the city boy around here? :teeth:

My folks should be arriving in about an hour. They are going to stay overnight in a hotel and we are taking the girls over to swim tonight.

Y'all have a great day.

Okay I am not a scrapper, but on the Ya Ya thread, Pam suggested http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/ to a few... not sure what it has there for ideas, but Pam seemed to like it.

Merry, sorry you missed out on most of the market.

Alan, you are putting me to shame today... I've just um... well... done pretty much nothing besides my errands this morning.

Gotta run... need to get dressed and ready for Dawn's tonight. Have to decide what to bring to cook out. Luis is home now though and we decided that ice cream was a great idea today (it's the last day of Ice Cream month so we have to celebrate, you know ;))

I hope you all have a wonderful day :wave2:

Somehow, I don't think this is going to work as well as they would like.

Alan, have fun visiting with your folks. Don't all kids love swimming at a hotel? Sounds like a great evening. If you are on a roll, you are welcome to come to Oklahoma and do all of the same things here. I could really use your help. :teeth:

I'm trying to talk myself into folding clothes and cleaning up. I'm not motivated. The wall quilt in the dining room just jumped off the wall! DH says he will investigate what caused that to happen. Hope it's nothing major. After the kitchen, I'm tired of remodeling and fixing things.

Gail - that hotel looked really nice. was that your purse and shoes in the picture:confused: ;)

Bethany - hope the party goes well! drink up!

No cow stories here.

Got all my shopping done and have all my clothes laid out on the bed. Kids clothes are packed. I'm sure I'll forget something, but as I always say, "What you don't have, just go buy!"
