Angelrose's Journey

Hello my friends. I have kept myself very busy these last few weeks. This is kind of a hard time for me, but I'm determined not to be sad. Ron loved all the decorations so much and I'm sure he is still enjoying them.

I have been baking batches of pumpkin oat bread, making cinnamon almonds, making 5 minute fudge wreaths and making "turtles". Those are really easy. You just got those mini pretzels, stick a Rolo on top, throw it in a 350 oven for 3 minutes (or less) and then take it out and squish a pecan on top so that it looks like a turtle. They taste really good. Sweet and salty all in one bite.

I have also kept busy with the grandkids. I've been going to their swim team practices on Monday so that Karen can swim too. That is fun and they are both doing really well.

Tomorrow we are taking the kids to Storybook Land to see all the lights. I enjoy that too.

Friday is my son's birthday. I can't believe he's going to be 42! Where does the time go? I got him his usual present, a Hess Truck. He saves them all.

We had our Christmas pictures taken and made into cards this year. Karen posted them on Facebook and also posted them online, so I feel safe to post a couple of them here.

We had fun that day.

Hello Angelrose :flower3:

What wonderful pictures..they made me smile. So lovely and we've seen your grandbabies grow up along with you it seems. Beautiful family.

Christmas is often the hardest time of year, we miss those that are not with us any longer and remember the wonderful Christmas's of days gone by with them. Sad times...but forever in our hearts where the love remains and warm memories reside for always.

Your holiday baking sounds delicious! Best part of the holidays sometimes, those smells from the kitchen!

I read along all too often..want you to know I think of you and your beloved Ron always.

Have a lovely Christmas and I wish you peace and good health in the year ahead...

Anglerose and dear friends, I want to take a moment to wish you all a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones....treasure every moment :flower3:. AR, love the family photos! Dearheart, you are blessed with such a beautiful family and I know Ron is smiling upon and guiding you all from above. :lovestruc

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support . My dear sweet Moma continues to baffle the Hospice drs in her last days of her earthly journey. Altho the cancer has taken over and she mostly sleeps, thankfully meds help control pain. Her Dr. thought she wouldn't be here for Thanksgiving, but amazingly she was and had tastes of her fave foods! Then dr said, probably not for my BD the first week in Dec. - so sis and I decided to spend the day/night w/her. Miraculously, she woke up fully alert, enjoyed BD dinner w/us, and an evening chatting w/a room full of company :goodvibes! This week dr said, she probably would not talk to us again and go peacefully in her sleep. Well, let me say, Drs are not God! On my visit yesterday, I arrived very heavyhearted expecting the worst. I softly called her name, once again to our surprise she woke up and told me 'she was delighted to see me and how much she loved me'! Ditto!!!!!! :lovestruc

I can't praise the Hospice nurses enough, we've all grown attached and they call Moma their little 'miracle lady'. The Dr shakes her head at her strong will and spirit. Altho sadly we realize this can't continue, only she and God know when she'll be called home to soar with the angels . Meanwhile I am soaking up all the time I can with this lovely lady, I have been so blessed to have as my mother.

Again, Merry Chirstmas everyone! Count your blessings, as you and loved ones make lots of special holiday memories! :santa:

Godspeed Angelrose ^j^ ~ I know Ron is smiling at all those goodies you made and decorations you worked so hard putting up. :littleangel:

Blessings to you and your Moma 4nana..we indeed must treasure every day, every moment for tomorrow is promised to no one.

She sounds a very special soul..bless her heart.

Hugs...wishing you a beautiful Christmas and peace in your life.

Thank you minnie56. I'm glad you liked the pictures. And thank you for the kind wishes. I wish you all the same.

4nana, thank you. I was hoping and praying that your mom would improve, but I guess God has different plans. Sending you hugs and prayers. I know you enjoy every minute you can spend with your dear mom.

I have had a busy 3 days. We took the kids to Storybook Land and we all had a wonderful time. Friday was Chuck's birthday, so we all went out to breakfast at IHOP. We had so much fun and so many laughs. Mostly at Chuck's expense. :lmao: After we left, they went to do some grocery shopping and Santa had to make a last minute stop at Build A Bear. It seems Jesse told Santa that he wanted Rudolph and no one else. He mentioned that he was going to get Rudolph while we were at Storybook Land. So I got Rudolph and Clarice for Zoey. I also picked up a gray mouse for me. I know, there is no hope for me at all.

After I got home I relaxed for a couple of hours and then went back to babysit while Chuck and Karen went out to dinner and a movie. Jesse was very well behaved and went to bed without a problem. On the other hand, Zoey was a problem. She started crying as soon as I said it was time for bed. I got her into her jammies, brushed her teeth and gave her a vitamin all the while she was crying. After getting her to calm down for a few minutes I tucked her in, hugged her and told her to go to sleep and no more crying.

Yeah, that lasted about 3 seconds. I went back in and she wanted her mommy. I told her for the third time that mommy and daddy went out to dinner and a movie and would tuck her in when they got back. Hugged her again and went downstairs.

Aaaaaaaaaand two minutes later I hear her crying again. Back up the stairs. She hurt her chin. :confused3 I told her if she would lay down and close her eyes she wouldn't hurt her chin. LOL Back downstairs.

I actually got to read two pages before the crying started again. Back upstairs, (I really got my exercise in). She wanted her mommy and for the fourth time I told her mommy and daddy would tuck her in when they came back. I also told her that the next time I came up she would get a spanking. (Like that would happen) She finally settled down and went to sleep. AHHHHHHHHH peace and quiet.

Chuck and Karen came home around 10:30. We talked for a while and I got home in time to watch the 11 news and fall into bed.

Today I got my hair done and came back home and didn't move for the rest of the day.

I like being busy, but I think I could use some relaxing time tomorrow.

Angelrose,
I can't believe how big the "grands" are getting. I love the pics of Jesse and Zoey together, so much love between brother and sister. They look like a bundle of joy to be around and maybe some occasional mischief ;) You are truly blessed to have such a supportive, caring son and daughter-in-law. I envy you.
Have a wonderful Christmas!

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas. Great pix of the family, Angelrose.
4nana, this is such a hard time for you. Prayers for you & your family.

Thank you rapriebe. I am very blessed to have such a wonderful family.

minniecarousel, thank you and the very same to you.

snappyd, I hope you are enjoying the beach along with Bear.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY DEAR DIS FRIENDS.

No one? :confused3

Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year!!  :wizard:

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY DIS FRIENDS!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have had a rotten cold and fever.

I had a wonderful Christmas holiday. On Christmas eve, I went over around 8:30 so I could see the kids reaction to the presents from Santa. I brought over scones for breakfast as an excuse. Karen came down and the kids were SOOO excited that Dweezel (the elf on the shelf) had brought them two presents. Jesse had already shoke the boxes and knew they were ornaments. LOL Karen told him he couldn't touch the presents or Dweezel or the magic would stop. So she carefully took the letter and the presents over to the living room. Karen being the sweet woman she is let me read the letter. You should have seen their faces as I read what Santa had written about each of them. It's a wonderful memory that I will keep the rest of my life. Then they opened their gifts and saw that they were the bells from Santa's sleigh. Oh my goodness what joy on their faces as they got the first gifts of Christmas from Santa this year. Karen asked them if they knew what that meant. Jesse said, "Santa is REAL". Karen said, "yes and because you BELIEVE". Oh they were so excited and were ringing those bells. Can you hear it Grandmom?? as they held it up to my ear. Of course I can hear it. I will hear it all day and night. LOL Then they did the same to Karen and Chuck. It was so cute.

Then I said I was leaving and Jesse got very upset. He wanted to know why I was leaving because I just got there. I told him I had just come to bring the scones and Karen told him I would be back for dinner.

So I came back for dinner and we watched Frosty and Frosty Returns. Karen read them the Night Before Christmas and then it was time for them to go to bed. I stayed and we watched a movie and then I went home. I knew they had a lot of work to do before they could go to bed.

Christmas morning I was there around 9. I barely got in the door and the kids were ganging up on me tell me that Santa had come. They showed me all their gifts and then I told them that the strangest thing had happened. There were two presents under my tree that I didn't put there so it must be from Santa. It was the two reindeer. That was a big hit with both of them.

Then they got to open my presents and they loved them all. But Jesse got a little confused and asked me where my presents were. I told him that Santa had only brought the the reindeer and the rest were from me. LOL

Karen and Chuck each got new cameras and Chuck had gotten Karen and beautiful stained glass flamingo to hang in her sewing room. She collects flamingos.

I got two sets of dvd's from a series called Midsomer Murders. It's British and I have all 22 years of them. I also got a Disney gift card from them that I didn't expect. It is for the Vera Bradley purse I want to get at Disney.

We had a lovely dinner of hibachi. Steak and chicken and veggies, white rice and Yum Yum sauce. Oh that was sooo good. Then we watched a movie and then had our dessert. Pumpkin pie and those wonderful mint chocolate mousse cupcakes.

After the kids went to bed we played rummykube. Now I have never played that or any game for that matter. But that was so much fun. Of course I lost spectacularly, but there was a lot of laughs. Usually at my expense. Especially after Karen had her turn and played a lot of her tiles and then it was my turn and I did some tiles and they were both laughing at me. WHAT??? UHHHHHHH mom, Karen already won. oh. Well, I wasn't looking at her tray. :lmao:

We played 4 games and then I wanted to get home. It had been a long day. A wonderful day.

Then on Friday we all went into Atlantic City. Karen and I went shopping on the Walk and Chuck went for a walk on the boardwalk. It was a beautiful warm day too. I bought three pair of Sketchers. Two pair of sneakers and a pair of slippers. Karen told me I had to get them because they were soooooooo me. I couldn't resist.

We had lunch at Applebees and I was very good and had one of their Weight Watcher meals. It was a wonderful steak, potatoes and stuffed mushroom meal.

We stopped at the Disney store and I found a Duffy beanie sized. Of course I had to have that.

We left and I got home around 2.

Saturday I went to IHOP and Walmart and came home. I felt fine.

Around 2 I started sneezing and coughing. Yeah I had been fighting it for two weeks and it finally got me. I have been feeling miserable as only a had cold can make you feel. I had a fever of 100 this morning so I went to the drug store and got some Dayquil. Hopefully that will take care of the fever and the congestion. I do feel better tonight.

On a bright note, it's down to 30 days until my trip to DW. I am so excited.

Love those slippers! Sounds like a wonderful Christmas Angel! I love reading about your family, it reminds me of mine when I was young. Ah, the good old days!

Have a happy and healthy New Year!

Thanks snappyd. I am now starting to put away all my decorations. This is the part that I hate. I usually leave them out until at least the second week in January, but this year we are going away. 29 days and counting!

One thing I forgot to tell you about the letter from Santa. When Jesse got ever the sheer joy of the present and the letter, he got very serious and said, "but this means no other kids will get a letter". He was so worried about that. Karen had to reassure him that Santa writes letters to lots of kids. I thought that was so cute of him.

Hi everyone! Hope you all made it through the Polar Vortex last week. :lmao: I can't wait for winter to be over, I'm starting to understand why people move to Florida when they retire! Disney would be an added bonus after the warmer weather.

I made it through, but wasn't happy about it. I hibernated through most of it.

I have all my Christmas decorations put away and all my Valentine decorations put up. I don't have that many of those so it was easy.

It was a relief to finally be able to clean and vacuum thoroughly.

I have all my clothes packed up and am working on my big suitcase. Only 17 more days to go.

I bought another pair of slip on Sketchers in navy. They are so comfortable I know walking all day will be no problem.

We have our tickets and all reservations are made. I have both car services reserved. Now all I have to do is wait 17 more days.

Wow, seems like we just heard about this trip and it's almost here! Have a wonderful time, you are so organized you put me to shame. We are planning to go to Disney in May (fingers crossed). We have a deposit on a room but haven't bought plane tickets yet. We are last minute kind of people, lol!

Have a great day everyone!! :)

14 days to go! I am so excited right now. We have our tickets. I want to go NOW!

Enjoy your trip in May.

COLD! And snow! But not too bad here. We only have about 2 inches so far and it will stop around 2am. Thankfully it is cold enough that it is the fluffy stuff and no ice like last time.

I am all done packing except for some last minute things. The house is all ready. I just have to stop the mail and paper next week.

My neighbor will look out for my house. Her husband will probably plow the snow off my driveway tomorrow. I can brush most of it off my back porch and car.

I don't know if Jesse will have school tomorrow or not. Last night they waited until 10:30 to let Karen know there would be early dismissal.

It didn't start to snow here until around 11:15. Now I never wait until the last minute to get my groceries, but I just needed a few more veggies that I ran out of sooner than expected.

So at 9am I went out. The temperature was 33 when I left the house. Of course the grocery store was a mad house. But I only needed a few things and I was out of there in half an hour. The temperature had gone up to 41. By the time I got home (about 7 minutes later) the temperature had gone back done to 31. So I was happy there would be that layer of ice under the snow.

I did a bit more cooking and relaxed the rest of the day. Florida has been chilly and wet this last week. I'm just hoping it will turn warmer and dry by the end of next week.

Please pray that there will be no more snow next Friday. I fly out on the 31st.

7 days and counting. Well they finally got around to plowing my street at noon today. There are so many icy spots and side streets are horrible. Chuck and Karen don't want me to drive at all. Me neither. Karen picked me up for WW tonight and Chuck will drive me to my hair dresser on Saturday and then Karen will pick me up. Then she will take my luggage and come and get me for swim practice on Sunday. I don't know how they are going to work getting Jesse off the bus next week.

I feel bad about not being there for them, but it would be awful if I had an accident. So I will be good and not drive until the spring thaw. Next week is going to be frigid too.

I am so ready for Florida. I need some warmer weather.
