Angelrose's Journey

Oh my what a busy day. Busy and great! I got up at 6 so I decided to get the grocery shopping done before Karen picked me up at 8:30. I got home by 7:45 and had everything put away by 8. I read until she arrived.

It was cloudy and looked like rain any minute. I pushed Jesse in his stroller and Karen pushed Zoey. We were so early that most of the booths were still closed. We went over to my friends store and they got to make a fuss over both kids. I told Jesse he could get out of his stroller because I was going to buy him a present. He picked out a bright green motorcycle that went VRUUUUM. But it was a quiet VRUUUM and not as bad as the train or the truck. LOL We walked around some more and the lady who does the soft sculptures was open, so we talked to her for a few minutes. Jesse wanted to ride the carousel so grandmom took him.

I told Karen about the spicy pretzels and we went to that booth and she bought the same two flavors that I did. Chuck will love the hot pretzels.

I bought Zoey a cute little hot pink knitted hat with a big pink flower on it. heh heh heh I told Karen that she could blame it on me. Chuck is getting tired of pink for his little girl.

We walked around and saw all of the booths. Karen found a cute wooden reindeer for their outdoor decorations for Christmas. By that time we were starving. We stopped at the Greek booth and we both got the chicken souvlaki on pita. Oh my goodness was that good.

Just as we finished eating it started to rain in earnest. So we headed back to the car and she drove me home. When I got in the door, I got into my nighty and took a nap. I was exhausted. I got up two hours later only because the phone rang with a wrong number.

I got up and started to watch tv. The phone rang around 3. It was Chuck asking if I wanted to have dinner with them at Olive Garden. YIPPEEE! I get to see everyone again!

We had a nice time and a great dinner. Jesse got a little antsy towards the end but that is to be expected of an almost 3 year old. I thought he did very well, but Karen said that he was naughty and I couldn't give him his little cars. I think I was more disappointed than he was. He took it well and said that I could come to his house if I wanted. AWWWWWW I hated to tell him I had to go home. It was almost his bed time anyway.

I am so happy today. Ron would have loved to have gone to the craft fair with us. He loved to look at each and every booth.

Hi Angel! I love the story about the date! :lmao:

Where was the fair, if you don't mind me asking? That carousel looks like Fantasy Island on LBI? So glad you are getting out and having fun - the cousins dinner looked awesome!

Have a nice weekend! :)

Hi snappyd. The craft fair was in Smithville near Absecon. It's only about 5 minutes from my house.

The kids came over for a little visit this morning. They brought Zoey for me to hold. Karen fed her and then I got to hold her. She looked at me with such a serious look on her face. LOL So precious.

Then Karen got the idea to take a picture of Zoey with my Cabbage Patch dolls.

Which one is Zoey?

I forgot to add that after all these years, I STILL get mad at that guy. I'm Italian and Irish. We hold grudges. :rotfl:

How cute - Zoey and the CabbagePatch Kids! I'm so glad that you see your kids often.

We leave on Sunday morning for WDW with our younger son & daughter-in-law. Can't wait to do Food & Wine.

Oh mu gosh, how cute is Zoey with the Cabbage Patch Dolls? TOO CUTE!!

Julie - How exciting! Where are you staying this trip? The resort is half the fun for me. :) Will you all attend the Halloween party? Did not expect to like it, but loved MSSCHP - Wishes is spectacular!

Godspeed and know you will have a magical trip!!

Thank you Julie and Christine.

Julie you have to tell us all about your adventures at WDW with your family.

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, in a slump. Have a great weekend, I'll be back next week. Hug the babies!

Hope you're back to your usual happy self next week, snappd.

I have a had a not so great week. First I decided to take a walk in the mall since it was raining. I wanted to stop at Walmart and return a t shirt that was too small. I was one stoplight away when the light turned green, my car made an awful sound but seemed to run ok. I got to Walmart and returned to t shirt. Then I called Chuck to see if he could see what was wrong. He left work and came right over. He looked at the engine and under the car and told me it was my exhaust system. I went right to my local garage, but they couldn't take me. So the next morning, bright and early I got there and left the car and Chuck took me home.

Later that afternoon Chuck called to tell me that my local garage couldn't fix it. It was the catalytic converter and the whole exhaust pipe. So he was going to come over and pick me up around 4 to pick up the car and I could see Jesse. Great!

I was sitting in my recliner when Chuck came in to get me. I turned of the tv and my ankle hurt so bad I couldn't walk on it. I tried to get to the kitchen and Chuck ran to get my cane and a chair. I have no idea what happened all of a sudden like that. I tried to walk it off, but I just couldn't do it.

Chuck said to just rest and he would take care of everything. A little while later he and Karen went to the garage and picked up my car. He drove it here and Karen drove their car. I was so surprised to see them all.

I got to visit with Jesse and see Zoey. By then my ankle was a bit better and I could walk better with my cane. Jesse was so cute. He loves to walk from room to room with a flashlight. All too soon they had to leave to feed Miss Zoey. But I was so glad for the visit.

That night was hellish. I had to take an Aleve. I'm not supposed to take that or Advil because I had a stomach bleeding problem before. But that was the only thing that was going to take care of the pain.

Around 4am, the pain stopped and I could walk fairly normally.

By the next morning I was able to take my 30 minute walk. I only made two rounds of Smithville instead of my usual 2 1/2. But at least I was walking.

In case you didn't know, about 25 years ago I broke my left ankle in 3 places. I was operated on and they put in screws and a plate. A year later they took all the hardware out. It took me a year after the break to walk without limping.

I can remember Ron pushing me in a wheelchair on the boardwalk. I would get out of the chair and walk from one casino to the next one and I would be wiped out. Little by little I could make it to two, then three casinos. Pretty soon I didn't need the wheelchair. Just my crutches. Finally I could do without the crutches. To strengthen my ankle, I would walk on the beach. My ankle would turn over every few steps, but I persevered.

By the next summer I was walking normally. The dr told me within 10 years I would have arthritis in that ankle. But I was lucky and I got almost 15.

Then the problems started and I let it go. By the time I finally went to the orthopedist there was very little cartiledge (sp) left. I took cortizone shots for a while and finally my ankle didn't hurt anymore. But I did need a cane to walk around. So that is where I am today. Some days are better than others.

I did get to hold my little princess today when I stopped over the kids house to pick up my Netflix. She is just so cute.

I will be going with them on Tuesday to the pumpkin patch with Jesse's daycare. Monday or Wednesday Karen and I are going shopping for clothes for our family Christmas pictures. It will be a good week.

What a strange day I had. This afternoon I had to get out of the house because the noise from the shooting range was REALLY LOUD. I went to Smithville for a little peace and quiet. Now I never go there on the weekends because of the crowds, but I needed some quiet.

I get there and it's a madhouse. It's the Corvette car show. That wasn't too bad, but they had all these loud speakers turned up to a million decibels.

I had just started my walk when I hear a little voice calling Mary. I turned around and it was my friend Pat. Now what are the chances of us finding each other in that crowd? I was so glad to see her and her husband. We walked around for about an hour. I was very done walking by that time. We were headed out to the parking area when a man tapped me and asked if I was Mary Bown. I said yes and he introduced himself. It was one of Ron's most promising apprentices at work. He told me he hadn't heard about Ron's passing until long after the funeral. He gave me his condolences and told me how much he liked and admired Ron. Ron was very proud of him. He always told me that Rick would do well in anything he did.

Now what are the odds that first I would meet Pat in that crowd and then that I would meet Rick? Talking to Rick made me feel good inside. I know that Ron isn't forgotten.

The angels were giving me two gifts today.

I love how Ron always finds a way to contact you. Hope your ankle doesn't bother you too much this week, does the weather affect it?

I just need to tell you that you and Ron did such a wonderful job raising your son; there are not too many men his age who would worry so much about their Mom. He is a wonderful person, and I know who is responsible

Angelrose - it sounds like you had a wonderful Sunday! I agree...strange, but wonderful. And that Ron is never far from you!

We just got back from WDW last night - and here I am, back at my little half-time job, less than 12 hours later!

We had a terrific time. Food & Wine was awesome. Did the Segway Tour Around the World and the Halloween Party (I think it's been 42-43 years since I last "trick-or-treated"!! The 4 of us got to be the "actors" in the backlot scene at the Studios. We saw La Nouba...those are just the highlights!

I hope you have a good day today, and that your ankle behaves itself!

snappyd thank you for the compliment for my son. He is very good to me and I thank God every day for him and Karen.

Ron seems to know when I need a little extra boost. I am very blessed.

My ankle is better and yes the weather does affect it. Mostly when the barometric pressure changes a lot. But I still am able to get around.

minniecarousel, I hope you will do a trip report. I want to know all the details.

Yesterday Karen picked me up to go to the pumpkin patch with Jesse and his daycare. It was showering until we got there and then it magically stopped. I thought that the pumpkin fields would be right there. I was wrong. We had to get into a couple of carts being pulled by a tractor. Now I want you all to envision me climbing up into a hay filled cart. :rotfl: Someone grabbed my cane for me and I was able to pull myself up but it was something to behold.

We traveled along a nice rutty, muddy road for about 10 minutes. It felt longer. Then I had to get down off the cart. Yeah that was fun too. But all the kids were so excited to get to pick their very own pumpkin. The pumpkins were all small. Just the right size for preschoolers. Jesse picked his favorite and then, you guess it, climb back in the cart. We got back to the parking area and I thought we would be going. Oh nooooooooo. First we had to go through the corn maze. UHHHHHHHHHHH Karen, I get lost in a closet. I hope you know the way. Sure, mom. UHOH

This is the maze

We walked and walked and then we walked some more. Finally one of the teachers figured out we were lost. Oh Goody. By this time I was beyond tired. The teacher gave Karen the map because she couldn't figure out where we were. We saw a sign that told us where we were and Karen did get us out.

When we got back, the other mothers wanted to know why it took us so long. They had been back for a long time. I so wanted to stick my tongue out at them. :lmao: Jesse was so tired that Karen had to carry him the rest of the way out while I pushed Zoey in the stroller.

I was never so glad to get back in the van. I think Jesse wanted to go home, but he had to go back to school for lunch and a nap which I'm sure they all needed.

Karen took me home and I was so tired I just had a rice cake and a piece of bologna and took my own nap.

Now my usual nap is for an hour and a half. When I woke up I had slept for three and a half hours!

But you know it was all worth it to see Jesse having so much fun.

Mary Zoey is so beautiful! Congratulations!!! I'm so glad that she and Karen did great. You all have been in my thoughts and prayers!

Sorry I haven't been around in so long. I think about you even though I'm not on here. Hopefully I can check in more often now.

You're very welcome. I'm going to make a point to get on here more often.

I think I just got a little claustrophic looking at that maze!

Yes it was a bit close quarters in there. I'm so glad I don't have to do it for another year! :lmao:

Sorry I haven't been here in a while. My ankle has been giving me problems, and I haven't felt very sociable.

I finally went to the orthopedist. It was pretty much what I expected. I have no joint really. Just bone on bone when I walk. But he told me they have perfected the ankle replacement now. He gave me the name of a dr that he said is the pioneer in this operation. The trouble is, he is in Delaware and if he can do the operation for me, I would have to go to Baltimore, Maryland where he does it.

I have no idea if my insurance would even cover it. And with the kids both starting new jobs, I certainly can't ask them to take time off to take me to Delaware to see this dr. I guess I'm going to have to talk to them about it.

It would be wonderful if he can do this operation on my ankle. It would mean no more pain, no more walking with a cane. I would be walking normally again! Sounds like a miracle to me.

I'm going to the kids house this Saturday for Jesse's 3rd birthday party. Maybe I can ask them to find a time that we can all talk about it next week some time. I still have to get the dr's name and information from my orthopedist.

It's always something!
