Angelrose's Journey

We think snow is cool! We'll get a sprinkling every decade or so. There's a local "mountain" that's at around 3800' & it gets snow most winters. We can see it from our back deck. It's cold here now so I'll have to look in the AM to see if there's any up there.

My NY son is excited to take his 11 month old son out tomorrow to play in the snow. They live in a five-plex & they're the only year-round folks, so they'll have the grounds to themselves. Looking forward to the pictures!

Hang in there! What? 18 days (less?)!

You can have my share minniecarousel. LOL I got about a foot of snow yesterday. Thankfully my neighbor's son offered to shovel my driveway. He used to have a snowblower, but I guess it wouldn't work on this icy mess. He had a friend to help him. They started in the back and brushed the snow off my car and shoveled the whole back parking area. That was a big enough job. Then he asked he if could just do two places where the car's tires would go on my very loooooong driveway. His friend had gone home so it was just him. Of course I said yes and paid him. He was done around 2 from 10:30. I got out there this morning and did a bit of shoveling on my back porch. After they left, I went out and did a bit more on the steps and the sidewalk to the parking area. I'm just hoping for a lot of melting tomorrow.

I walked out to the mailbox and there is no way my car can make it down the driveway. The bottom won't clear that snow in the middle. Good thing I don't have to pick up the kids tomorrow. Chuck is working from home and the kids have the day off from school.

Wow, 12" of snow for you! Here in Chicago we have been very lucky.

In regards to your sunburn you mentioned up thread - some antibiotics can make your skin extra sensitive to sunlight, that may have been the case for you?

I had just gotten off of an antibiotic, so that could be why. I didn't know that, so I will be more careful in the future. Thanks for letting me know debknight.

I went out around 1 to get the mail and I stomped on the snow left in the driveway. It has been melting so I think my car will make it fine when I go out tomorrow.

16 days and counting!

We now have our plane reservations for our October trip. We leave October 3 and come back on the 8th. We hope to have our December reservations by next week.

14 days 18 hours to go!

Hi ladies! We got almost 30 inches of snow here in NY. Finally dug the car out yesterday. Tomorrow I'm heading to NJ, hope I can make
it up my driveway, if not we will have to trudge thru the snow and ice. Hope everyone is doing well - I haven't been posting here much because I'm always on Facebook. :wave2:

Hi snappyd. Good to see you again. I guess I'll stop complaining about my foot of snow. There has been a lot of melting so you may be able to luck out on your driveway.

Wow... I rarely come here, but was pointed to another thread by my wife. After reading it, I noticed this was a "watched thread" of mine for having commented on it 3½ years ago. I forgot what had happened, reread the first 20 pages, cried like a baby, moved to the most recent page, and now I'm elated - to see you're still here. Made my day. :)

PS. This happened about a month before my mom passed, and I'm happy to say I did get my dad back to Disney since then and it was great. I had a few lumps in my throat remembering times with the two of them together, but it was extremely gratifying to see him having a good time even without her there. We're pushing to get him down there again later this year, too. ;)

Welcome back 321.Duck. So glad you posted again. The first time back to Disney was very hard for me since it had only been 6 months. I wanted to cry all the time, but didn't want to spoil things for my grandson. I am so glad that my daughter in law wouldn't take "no" for an answer and just told me I was going. Now every time we go back I am comforted to know that he is watching over all of us and is happy we are there. He loved going to Disney World.

Aw, that's sweet 321.Duck. Without speaking for the other regulars here, it's been my privilege to be on this journey with Angelrose.

We have a lot of fun on this thread!

Oh thank you minniecarousel and 321.Duck. It has been a long journey and I don't know how I would have gotten through so many tough times without all of your support. I am so blessed.

Thinking of you and wishing you a wonderful trip w/loving family :lovestruc. Don't forget your northern friends :cold: while you're basking in the warm :sunny:!! :teeth:

When do you leave Angelrose? Wed or Thurs? How exciting!

I've been caring for a sick little boy. He's had a cold and upset tummy. I think it's been 30 years since a little one has thrown up on me! Yuck! I tried cleaning my recliner with vinegar & water. So now it smells like vinegar! I've dusted it with baking soda & will vacuum it in the AM. Tomorrow is my "day off" which is good because he took naps on me & I've gotten nothing done in the past couple of days. He's starting to feel better, thank heavens!

Thank you 4nana and minniecarousel. I leave tomorrow. The plane takes off at 6:25 pm and my cousin is picking me up at 4. That should get me there in plenty of time. We are going to get our red velvet pancakes tomorrow morning. I'm going to drop off my computer at Chuck's on the way.

I'm glad your grandson is starting to feel better. Nothing worse than a little one who is sick. Hope your recliner gets rid of the smell. Try Fabreeze maybe?

I made it! I am starting to write a trip report. It will be a while before it's finished. Our first day was at Disney Springs and we ate at Earl of Sandwich. Of course I got the Holiday sandwich and potato salad. I could eat that sandwich every day. Turkey, cranberry sauce and stuffing on a toasted roll. Heaven on earth!
