Angelrose's Journey

Hope you are enjoying the pool today AngelRose!

As for the hummingbirds, I just mix a cup of sugar in a quart of water and they seem happy with that :)

Looks like more rain in the forecast, think we'll take those vacation days next week.

Loved the new pics of the grandkids, hope to see more soon :)

Oh I had a great time in the pool this afternoon. It looks like my morning swims are over for this year. I swam for about 3 and half hours it was so nice. I'm putting the solar heaters to work now. The sun hits them right around noon so I have them on all afternoon until about 5.

It felt so good swimming this afternoon. It was in the mid 80's and low humidity and the water temp was around 78 and with the heaters on I got it up to 82.

Glad you liked the pictures of the grandkids. I was just there last weekend and I miss them already. I probably won't see them for a couple of weeks now. But I will keep busy.

Tomorrow is my weigh in. I don't think I lost anything at all this week. I have been bad. LOL We'll see.

Oh, Snappy - love your hummingbird video. Hummers were my Mom's favorite. She loved to sit at the kitchen table and watch them at the feeder. I've had ants all over the feeder lately, and we're moving next week, so I took it down.

Angelrose - I can't believe that Zoey is taking steps already! They really do grow up fast. Good for getting in the swimming.

The house we're moving into at the end of next week has had a rat problem under the house. The seller says he has no money to take care of the problem, so in order to go ahead and buy this house, looks like DH & I will pay for the clean-up & sanitation. We also found out today that he hasn't been paying the mortgage! Not sure how that affects our funding. Gee, I hope he's paid up on the taxes (he's not paid the HOA's that were due last month.) *sigh*

Thank you Julie. I can't believe our Miss Zoey is going to be one year old on the 31st. It seems like just yesterday we had just learned that the baby was going to be a girl. The first girl in many generations. She is such a happy baby. Even when she is teething and crying, she stops and is all smiles again.

I hope your house will have no more problems. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

Oh my, good luck with the house. Moving is so stressful to begin with, you don't need any added problems/expenses!

(to keep ants out of the hummingbird feeders, dip a pipe cleaner in a little vegetable oil and twist it around the hook that holds the feeder up - the ants won't cross the oil - worked for me!)

Angel, where are you? Hope you are ok, do you have to evacuate because of the hurriciane???

I've been wondering the same! Praying everyone is safe.

We are in central NC and safe, but have so many friends and family along the east coast all the way up to Maine.

Holding all our DIS friends very near in heartfelt prayer. Sending loads of PD!!

Mary I hope you are staying safe and dry! As always, I've been thinking about you. Sorry I don't get here more often.

Can't believe how big your babies are. They are so adorable!

Congrats on loosing so much weight! You are doing amazing. Love ya!

I did have to evacuate and spend Friday evening until Sunday morning with Chuck and his family.

Thank you snappyd, Christine and Michelle for your concern. I actually had a great time this weekend. Friday night we basically watched the weather all evening. I played with Jesse and read him the same three books MANY, MANY times all weekend. My little princess Zoey is now up to 7 steps all by herself. She is just so cute the way she tries to talk.

I watched my Netflix dvd Friday night and then went to bed. Saturday morning Jesse and I woke up at 6:30 and went downstairs. I let him watch the Little Einsteins while I read my book. Karen woke up next and the Zoey. We fed the kids and then ran to the grocery store. Karen wanted to pick up some veggies so she could make gumbo. MMMMMMMMMM It always turns out so good.

I picked up my groceries for the week too. We came home and I played with Jesse while Zoey napped. Karen asked me if I wanted to come with her to lunch with her friend Liz. It was Liz's birthday. We ate at Applebees. I thought it was so sweet of Karen to invite me to go along with them. After lunch Liz went home and Karen and I stopped at Kohls. She wanted to pick up a shirt for Chuck and I picked up some undies, a nightgown and a short fleecy robe, all on sale.

By the time we got home and got everything put away, the rain REALLY started to come down. When Jesse woke up I played with him and Zoey while the kids made gumbo. That Zoey is fast. I was running after her to keep her out of the kitchen. LOL Finally Karen put her in the high chair and gave her some dinner.

After that delicious gumbo we let Jesse play while we talked and watched the weather. I read him his books yet again and it was time for him to go to bed. We watched a movie called "Jumper". It was cute. Then the electricity started to flicker and they turned off the tv and went to bed. I stayed up a bit longer reading my book and then went to bed.

The wind wasn't really bad that night although it sure did rain hard. In the morning Jesse and I got up around the same time again. I played with him until Karen got up. We had a nice bacon and eggs breakfast and then I played with Jesse a while and then got dressed and got all my things together to go home. Chuck drove me home.

I was kind of scared at what I might find. But I was lucky. No trees down on my 10 acres. Just tons of leaves and small branches. My pool was still standing but with water over the top. There was enough leaves in the pool to make a whole new tree. But, my basement was dry. YIPPEE! Chuck left and I put everything away and had my lunch. I laid down in my own bed, just to get comfy for a while and then watched tv for a while since it had started to rain again. I wanted to get in the pool and clean it up.

Around 2:30 it stopped and I got in. It took me a half hour just to get the big leaves up. It took me another hour and a half to get the big dirt and bits of leaves off the bottom. The wind was blowing so hard that it was blowing more dirt and leaves in. But I got the worst of it. Tomorrow I will get in and vacuum up the rest of what blew in. Probably looking at another hour of vacuuming that. But I am a happy person that everything was fine here.

DizFan101, thank you for your prayers.

Gald to hear you were safe and sound through the nasty weather. Very excited to hear your basement was dry! I was praying you wouldn't have any problems.

Thanks Michelle. I was so relieved to see that it was all dry. But this morning when I went out to get the paper, I noticed that one tree was down off to the side. Then in the front a tree broke off about half way down and was just hanging there. Neither one is a problem. I will ask my neighbor if he wants the wood. Otherwise it will just stay there and rot. It's not blocking anything so It's all good. It must have happened yesterday with all the heavy winds.

Karen called and asked if I would watch Zoey on Saturday morning while they get ready for her birthday party. GEEEEEEEEEE that would be SUCH a hardship. :lmao: So I will be there from around 8 or 9 until around 7 at night. Then on Sunday I will be watching both of them in the afternoon and evening so the kids can celebrate their anniversary. I think Sunday night I will be going to bed REALLLLLLLLLY early. Those kids can wear me out. But I do have such fun.

So happy to hear you made it through the storm! Sounds like a fun weekend coming up!

:cool1:

We just don't get any summer rain out here, so I'm always fascinated by the East Coast storms. Sounds like a lot of work to clean up after one passes through.

Enjoy your weekend, Mary. I imagine there's nothing sweeter than spending time with the grands!

We've moved into the new house (which sounds wierd to me, since it's older than the old house!) We should have it in our name today or tomorrow. Kinda scary moving in without owning it. Can't wait to get started on the remodeling. We'll need to see how much of our budget needs to go for the under-the-house mess.

Here's hoping you will have MANY happy years in your new home, Julie.

I went out to dinner tonight to celebrate Zoey's birthday. We went to Olive Garden and I ate like a little piggy! We all shared some fried ravioli for an appetizer, Karen and I both had the grilled chicken with spinach, grape tomatoes and black olives over cavatelli? (Thin spaghetti.) LOL With asiago cheese on top. OMG it was so good. I have enough left over for dinner tomorrow night. Karen and I shared the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Oh that is just sinful. I could have eaten the whole thing by myself. Like I said, I was a little piggy.

We got home around 7, the kids went right to bed and I came home.

I will be able to watch Zoey get her picture taken on Friday with her "smash" cake. My hairdresser can't take me this week. So I will have too long, green hair for the family party. LOL Since I'm not going to be on tv, I don't think I care that much. I will be having too much fun with my angels.

I HAVE SURVIVED!

Friday I watched Zoey get her pictures taken. She didn't smash her cake. She kept trying to pick it up and when daddy said it was OK she just upended it. :lmao: Then she got icing on her feet and every time she tried to get up she went SPLAT. I helped get her cleaned up. Then they treated me to lunch at Johnny Rockets. I can't even imagine how many points that lunch was.

Saturday I got there right before 7am, still in my Mickey jammies. No way was I going to get dressed that early in the morning. The kids were glad to see me. They had so much to do before the party. I played with the kids all morning while Chuck and Karen set up tents, and tables and chairs out in the back yard. The bought a helium tank and blew up around 50 balloons and put them all around the back yard. It really looked great.

I kept the kids occupied until lunch time. I fed the kids while Chuck and Karen went out to pick up the food and cake.

I put them down for their naps and they slept for a good long time. So did I until someone knocked on the door. I thought it was a tad early for people to arrive for the party. Nope! It was Jehovah's Witness. I politely declined and shut the door. Zoey woke up really crying hard. I think she must have had a nightmare. She didn't want me to pick her up. I spoke quietly to her and rubbed her back and she finally let me pick her up.

I brought her downstairs and sat her on the couch with me. I put my arms around her and kept telling her she was alright and kissing her head. She finally stopped crying, looked up at me, gave a couple of big yawns and went right back to sleep in my arms. AWWWWWWWWW

Chuck and Karen came back with the food and cake and got Jesse up. I went upstairs to get dressed. We talked for a few minutes and then people started to come.

The party was a great success. All the kids had a great time. They had set up this little turtle pool with ice cold water since it was a hot and humid day. The pool is big enough for one. At one point there was FOUR kids in there. :rotfl: Jesse had a bad fall down one step. He cut his lip and got a small brush burn on his chest. Oh how he cried. I was so upset. Chuck picked him right up and Karen took him inside. I had to find out how he was so I followed right in.

She was putting ice on his lip. Poor baby has a fat lip. My cousin Joan followed me in to see how he was and gave him two cars from "Cars 2" she had gotten him for his "unbirthday" present. It took his mind off his hurt lip and stopped crying. He even managed to say thank you to her.

In a few minutes he was back outside and playing again. I was busy pushing Zoey on the swing when Jesse's friend called "grandmom will you push me too". LOL So I was pushing both kids. My arms will never be the same. Then Jesse wanted me to push him on the swing. Zoey loves the swing too. She wants me to push her high too! She laughed so hard every time she went high.

The food was wonderful. I had too much of everything. Then I got in line for the cake. OMG it was so yummy. It had raspberry jam on one side and Bavarian cream on the other. I had a piece with the jam. Then I heard Karen asked if everyone had gotten a slice. (insert evil laugh here) I went up with my empty plate and told her I didn't get a piece. She said "MOM, you LIE". But I got my piece with the cream filling. It was delicious too but I preferred the jam.

It was time for Zoey to open her presents. She unwrapped one with mommy's help and then lost interest. Jesse was grabbing the presents so he could unwrap them. Here is the conversation the Karen had with him.

"Now, Jesse, whose birthday is it?"

"Zoey's".

"And whose presents are these?"

"Zoey's"

"Now who should open them?"

"Me."

Well, I couldn't help myself. I laughed out loud. So did my cousin Joan and Karen had to hide her face in her shirt. It was the way he said it. He sounded so logical. He wound up helping her unwrap the rest of her presents. After that I gave him my "unbirthday" present. It was a monster truck. Oh he loved that.

All the guests started to leave so I helped clean up a bit. Chuck's friend helped take down the tables and tents and Chuck hauled them all back down in the basement. I know how exhausted they both were. So I stayed a bit longer to keep the kids occupied playing until the got all the food put away.

Jesse ran up to get his jammies on and then ran down so I could kiss him goodnight. I was more than tired myself. But Chuck and Karen both thanked me about a thousand times all day. I had fun all day! I got home a little after 8, put on my night gown and sat in front of the tv for a couple of hours and went to bed around 10.

Sunday, I did my grocery shopping and went over to watch the kids while Chuck and Karen had their anniversary dinner. They were both asleep when I got there and both took a nice long nap for me. Zoey kept looking out the back door and crying for mommy and daddy. When I woke Jesse up she calmed down a bit and I gave them both a snack and then took them down the basement to play.

Jesse got hungry so we went back upstairs and I gave them both dinner. Then it was back downstairs to play. LOL I certainly did get my exercise this weekend. Chuck and Karen came back around 6 and we talked for a while about our Disney vacation. (Only 150 more days to go!)

I left a little after 7 and vegged the whole night.

So that is my survival story. Now that I have had a day to rest up, I'm looking forward to the next time I "have" to babysit.

What a wonderful couple of days you had! It's great that you are such a help with your grands, and it must be wonderful to see them often. Sounds like a terrific birthday party for Miss Zoey!

We are knee-deep in unpacking and lining up work to be done at the new house. It is tough moving from a 15 year old house to a 29 year old house! This guy deferred so much routine maintenance. It'll cost a small fortune to cut away all the over-growth on 3 sides of the property. We're afraid the fence will fall down as they cut back things!

My younger son and daughter-in-law are in New York for the week. DDIL's mother is getting married next weekend. Unfortunately, it looks like Southhampton is going to have lousy weather all week. No beach or boat time for them. They work so hard, it's a shame their vacation will be lacking some of the usual fun they have there. I'm overnighting daughter-in-laws' dress for the wedding tomorrow as my son forgot to pick it up from the dry cleaners on Saturday!
