Angel Question (possible spoilers)

I missed the first 10-15 minutes of Angel, when I started watching Angel and Spike were saying something about Buffy dating someone, I missed who, is it someone I would know.

And I just saw Fred, and she looks normal, did I miss something there, or do we not know?

Buffy was dating someone named "The Immortal". They never showed his face.

Illyria altered her appearance to look like Fred becasue her parents showed up unexpectedly.
