The following is from CNN:

"There may be hope for resurrection. Although nothing is finalized yet, Whedon is talking with the network about possible "Angel" TV movies next year to tie up any loose ends in the story. "

"A lot depends on whether Whedon and 20th Century Fox Television, which produces the show, will succeed in shopping a sixth season of "Angel" to another network, such as TNT, which carries reruns of the show, or UPN, which previously picked up "Buffy" after it left the WB"

Hmmm.... I would be suprised if another network wants it with the ratings it has, but you never know. In either case, a few TV movies would be better than nothing.

Whedon has pretty much said he hoped everyone was too busy by then.

I guess I can always hold out hope that someone else will pick it up - but I guess I should just face facts now :(

My DH sad that this is just as hard as when they cancelled Buffy, but I disagree. Everybody knew that SMG wasn't interested in continuing, so people pretty much knew before season 7 started that it was the last season. But I really didn't see Angel's cancellation coming. I thought for SURE another year.

Yup, I'm having trouble coming to grips on this. First Ed, now this!!

I think when JW started the 7th season of Buffy that he knew it was the last season...he wrote it to be the last season. The problem is, no one knew this would be the last season for Angel. This season hasn't been written to be the last season. There aren't that many episodes left, and I'm sure they'll have to re-write and possiblely re-shoot the last few episodes. I keep looking at this week's episode. Angel's a puppet. What kind of crap is that??? That's not the kind of stuff you show when there's only going to be a few more episodes left. I think the least the WB could have done was given them one more season to wrap things up.

As for the ratings, I think the reason the ratings have been so bad is because they've never given new fans a chance to see it. I know people who have told me they watched a few episodes but then it wasn't on anymore. This is due to the fact that for a few weeks Angel would be on Tuesdays, then they would change it to Sunday, then it was on Mondays and now it's on Wednesday. New fans couldn't keep up with it because it was always moving around the week. The WB has a major problem with that. They can never keep a show on the same day. I really do hope another network will pick it up. It really has a lot of potential. Maybe the Sci-Fi channel could pick it up???

From interviews I've read, it sounds like JW already planned to end S5 as if it were the last season, just in case Ats didn't get renewed.

LOL. I'm sure it will be an Emmy worthy performance.

Okay, I just wanted to mention this puppet episode. I thought it was going to be the dumbest thing ever. I actually really liked it. I found it to be hillarious! Angel as a puppet was will be one of those highly memorable moments. Anyone else have thoughts about it?
