Andy and Rae's 50th Birthday Celebration - 2005

I did pose a question to DCL about a group DISCOUNT rate, but haven't heard back from anyone as of yet, and that my deary, is "NOT" SPECULATION!!! LOL!!!

And think, if they go West through the Panama Canal in mid May, then they will have to go East through it in late August!!!

Rae - you're brilliant! I hadn't even thought of that! (Duh, Sandy, what do you think they do - fly the ship back? :earseek: )

We have so wanted to do a Panama Canal cruise and what better way to do it than on DCL? Since I'm sure the itineraries will be out by the time we cruise in August, I hope there are onboard savings.

Btw, I'll still be in my 50th year (born 11/54), so does that count if I go?

Do any cruise lines do regular Panama Canal cruises in June - Sept? Is the weather just plain too hot / humid / buggy to have an enjoyable cruise then?

Well its official.
If there IS a repositioning cruise going east during the school holidays (August) we'll be on it.

(Oh the offical word came from my wife who gave me permission to say we could go.) ;)

Cheers,
Grumbo

gometros - "Brilliant"? I don't think so, but okay, I'll accept that!!!!! Thank you!

Hey, Sandy, you are still young enough to be with us!!!!

Grumbo - I already like your wife!

I think Andy needs to start posting on the thread - haven't heard from him since about 2 hours ago in a PM.

By the way, Mom had her foot surgery today 7AM - home now and I've put on my Nurse Kratchet uniform and made her go take a nap while I cook supper! Never let it be said that I shirked my duties as Daughter and RN!

Rae

You know, folks, it's really hard to plan the party when we don't know where the party room will be. Is this like shooting a moving target? Maybe it's a new quiz game - Guess where the Magic will be when it's party time?

Andy, when you talked to Disney about a group rate, did you make them understand that you and Rae are really trying to get the planning done soon?

Yes, I did. I even sent them a link to this thread just to let them know how seriuos we are, but, I haven't heard a thing back from them. Do you think we have them running scared??? LOL!!!

I call it as I see it.

RIght now I don't feel so young. You know the old saying - if you're over 40 and you wake up in the morning feeling no aches or pain? Slowly, carefully, get back into bed 'cause you're dead and just don't know it yet.

GLad to hear she's doing well, Rae. Hey, were you an officer or did you work for a living in the service? From the sounds of it, you were the former and a tough one at that :)

Oh Sandy - you do make me laugh!!! Yes, I was active duty - and you will never guess what I did~!!!

I think you already know that I am an RN, but not working right now because I am writing plays for the local theaters and homeschooling Michael - but before that.....I worked a narcotic detector dog/sentry dog in the military. In fact, I was one of the very first woman ever to be selected to work a military working dog in the USAF!! I love it! Lots of great friends, funny stories and dogs that will forever be in my heart and mind.....

No offense to any "officers", but the toughest military member is the "Drill Sergeant" - and does that fit me???? You said it, "I call them as I see them!" My Dad, ex cop, once told me, "Honey, if I ever got into a fight. You're the only backup I'd ever need or want!" Yup! I may be height challenged but there's more than meets the eye!!!!

I was going to buy a shirt once that said, "Don't #%%$^@ with me! You will NOT win!" But the language just wasn't appropriate even if the sentiment was!!!!

I would go to hell and back for a friend, but if you hurt someone I love or cross me twice, you will regret it for the rest of your life.

Oh great, now I've scared everybody off.....

Rae

Rae,

Sorry, you have not scared me off. I will still be going on the 50th birthday bash. After all, it will be my BIG one also!

Hope your mom is doing okay, I wish her a speedy recovery from her foot surgery.

I can see it now - laps on deck 4 at 0600 hours :)

That's fine with me, as long as they are "WALKING" laps!!!

Hey, Rae, I want you on my side! Give our love to your mum for a speedy recovery.

The final minutes are drawing near, and I got my stateroom host to talk a bit when I handed him his tip envelope. He said that one of the ships is supposed to go north. I asked him to clarify north, and he said you know, LA and San Fransisco. He is very excited about this possible change, as his wife is back in the Phillipines, and it is very expensive to call her from Florida. He always calls from St. Thomas. But he says he can hardly wait to go "north" (the West Coast) as it will be alot cheaper for him to call home. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Time to go pack,
Robin

I would definitely hop onboard this ship if the timing is correct! I would also like to try and get my parents to go wtih, as they will both be turning 50 in 2005 and I will be 30! on May 31st!
Sounds like fun fun fun!

Mum-How about if we just ask dad for permission to go when he's not listening! That way he can't disagree!

Failing that, we'll just find someone's suitcase to hide in.

You had me at "hello" - Jerry Maguire

Karen, this would be the trip of a lifetime - and so educational for the kids. That's how you have to work on Mark. And if that doesn't work, remind him of the short, fat witch from the Halloween cruise.....that should do the trick!!!!

Hugs,
Rae
