Android App to talk to iPhones in parks

So I just found out the rates for using text in the US, and my son and husband have iPhones and I have an android. Does anyone know of any messaging apps that can be used over WIFI so as to not get charged for Texting?

What's app is a good one, also you could try facebook messenger. In addition to being able to use it on your phone you can use it on a computer too.

With free WiFi in the parks now and BBM being available on all platforms that would be your best bet.

No problem and it is available for phones and tablets now also. It I believe is also on the iPod and iPad if you have those we are an apple free house lol. BBM would be your best bet What's App pulls from your contacts in your phone and gives out your phone number where BBM is based on a device specific PIN and you add and delete contacts as needed.

We all used BBM- mixture of devices/phones for our last trip. Worked great-I like that with BBM it tells you if the message was received by the person so you know they got your message.

This year I plan on unlocking my phone (and my sons) and using roam mobility so that we can be in contact with our teens This will give them a little more freedom down there and give us some peace of mind.

Once your phone is unlocked you can get a plan from roam (or others) for about $4 a day including talk text and some data.

I have unlocked all of the Blackberry phones in our family about 15 of us and we set them up with AT&T but my friends on other platforms all use BBM now to communicate with one another. It is a free app and no unlocking necessary.

Exactly love the delivered and read notifications rather than wondering if they actually got or read the message. Also love the picture and video sharing of BBM which is also now getting BBM voice and BBM video updates on the other platforms. It is also getting a filesize increase for sending and recieving files of all sorts.

I don't like that it pulls from your address book and then tells everyone it finds in there with it that you have the app. I like having to add a contact via a specific pin via BBM and the security of BBM is of great importance to me.

I think I'm going to pay a small fee to add a US plan for my phone so that I don't need to rely on Disney's wifi and will be available on buses, monorails, etc. Normally it doesn't matter too much but we're traveling with 3 other families this trip and will be meeting up at a variety of times and locations.

Wifi and or data for BBM What's app etc all need either data or wifi to work. AT&T just did a complete overhaul of the network for cellular and wifi in and around Disney apparently there are very few issues in the parks for wifi now.

Your best bet all around is BBM.

I'm with you here. Google Hangouts 100% all the way. Granted we also have US Mobiles so we can text as well, but we'll use hangouts with each other plus others as we would with everyday use at home.
