I wanted to share with you guys the results of a BIG project we've been working on this weekend and, in my opinion, it's our absolute COOLEST WEDDING PROJECT EVER!!!!
As I mentioned in a previous post, we have opted NOT to do welcome bags for our guests when they arrive at the resort. We have guests arriving before we do and, logistically, it would just be a nightmare. Instead, we are sending our "Pre-Arrival Boxes" to our guests 3 weeks before the wedding to arrive about 2 1/2 weeks before they leave. When our guests receive these boxes, we hope their excitement will multiply times a hundred . . . and the best part is, they won't have to wait too long because their trips will be starting so very soon!
So without further ado, here are the results (This will require several posts because there are LOTS of photos):
So, this is what the outside of the box looks like:
We purchased the boxes from Office Depot. They're great! They're a "tuck tab" style white box that is just big enough to hold a ream of paper.
The picture on the front was created in PhotoShop and printed on full-sheet labels.
We took them to the post office and found out that each box will cost about $5 apiece to mail.
When the guests open the box, this is what they see:
But, almost more important than what they SEE, is what they HEAR when the open the box.
I can't BELIEVE he did this, but Brian managed to track down the guy they call the "Voice of Disney". He's the person whose voice you hear on the monorail ("Please stand clear of the doors"), on the Disney transport buses ("Watch your head and step") as well as on the Magical Express buses - among other places. So, Brian managed to hire this guy to record a special greeting from us to our guests - that PLAYS when they open the box!!!! We had the message recorded on light-activated sound modules, similar to the ones used in greeting cards. Unfortunately, I'm not really able to post any more details about the message itself due to the arrangement that was made with the voice talent. We assured him that it would be strictly non-broadcast.
But this is where the sound module sits. See that balloon made out of vellum? That's covering the light sensor, and it allows enough light to shine through to activate the sound. The balloon string is obviously an electrical wire for the module.
So, here is a closer look at the "goodies" contained in the box:
Everyone will receive a plush Mickey . . .
And celebration buttons (the generic "I'm celebrating" buttons AND special buttons for birthdays, anniversaries and 1st visit if they're celebrating other special occasions in December) . . .
DVD with a Disney Holiday special . . .
Park maps that we picked up on our planning session trip . . .
. . . and a personalized "passport" with essential information about their trip!

How amazing that your DF was able to track down the official voice of Disney! Love the passports and I think they will be so helpful for your guests. Everything looks just wonderful.
