Andreah and Brian - Dec 8th, 2009 (Reception Photos Posted)

That is WONDERFUL news! YAY for a clean bill of health! I just got all caught up on your PS TR and it looked like a great time- your hair is GORGEOUS and you got soooo many great pics with Misty- we have her booked for the wedding but now I'm thinking we should maybe do an engagement session with her when we go next April!

My newest DIY project has been making bridal party shirts with Swarovski crystal designs.

I found a place online that sells the transfer paper and the crystals for a really good price. But before I ordered, I wanted to do a trial run. So last week I went to Michaels and bought a toolkit that included one sheet of transfer paper and one teeny box of crystals (crystals at Michaels are super-expensive - $5 for 42 crystals) and made a "test shirt" - a little Mickey icon design in clear crystals and applied it to a black shirt. (42 crystals were just enough to make a 2 inch Mickey. It turned out really cute, so I went to that place online and ordered a bunch of supplies, which arrived on Thursday.

I just finished my first full design, although I haven't bought the shirts yet (they'll be black). I'm so excited!

614108338_w7HTx-S.jpg

I created the design in Photoshop and then reversed it before printing. I took the backing off the transfer paper and taped it to the printed design "sticky side up". Then I placed the crystals on the sticky paper face-down. When finished, I placed the backing back onto the transfer paper until I'm ready to iron it on to a shirt. I spent about 2 1/2 hours on the design. I've got 5 more shirts to make: Maid of Honor, Matron of Honor, Honorary Bridesmaid, Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom. It's pretty tedious work, so I'll probably do one each week.

ooo i like the shirts!! :thumbsup2 but seems time consuming. i dunno if i have that much patience. hee hee :rotfl:

Wow they look great! :lovestruc I definitely don't have the patience though. My girls will have to settle for iron ons if I can even manage the motivation for that! :lmao:

Thanks so much for posting that Andreah! I will have 2 bridesmaids and I LOVE LOVE the centrepieces you posted (the square rose ones) so I think our floral budget might be really similar to yours. It's really great to know that you can do the personal floral and more or less the whole decor for under $2,000 :)

We've just secured Napa & Sonoma, so I can't wait to see your wedding!

Thanks for sharing your BEO, I'm excited to see how it all turns out. Great idea to use a toss version for the BM, I'll have to remember that since I don't really like the $125 per bouquet they normally quote for BM bouquets.

wow! that was way less than i ever thought it would be. thanks for the help now i can show my DF, he got it in his head that a DFTW is way too much $$ and he has been looking into other locations. :sad1: but everything he looks at is way more than Disney. this will just help remind him. ;)

Thanks! :yay:

your floral sounds lovely!

I'm curious about the 10% discount, is that something that happens every now and then, or was it like a 1 off promo?

I'm so relieved! Some of you know that Brian was diagnosed with colon cancer about 13 months ago, had surgery, and underwent chemotherapy until April. Well, he's sort of "under a microscope" - for the next couple of years in particular - they'll have him undergo a series of tests and images every few months. And once a year, he'll had a colonoscopy, which is the best possible image and indicator they can get.

Well, yesterday was Brian's yearly colonoscopy, and we were both more nervous about it than we let on. But, all is well! They found one teeny little pollup and snatched it. They'll test it, but the doctor feels strongly that it is the "garden variety" benign type. If it were a recurrence of the cancer, it would be much more aggressive than that, so this is GREAT news!

Thanks for all the pixie dust . . . I know there are several of you who have kept him in your thoughts and prayers since reading our story. They are definitely helping! There are never any guarantees, but it looks like he's on the winning side of this!!

Now it's DISNEY OR BUST!!!!

Oh that's wonderful news!! Congrats to you and Brian both!!

I'll post my DFTW estimate here in a little bit . . . there were no surprises thanks to all of the helpful DisBrides that have been sharing their info.

Your BEO helped me! I didn't have anything on the guest book table or cake table!! Oops! But it really sounds lovely! :goodvibes I googled the rossini roses as I couldn't remember what they looked like (and was seemingly too lazy to skip back a couple of pages lol) and they're beautiful!! I can't wait to see all the pictures!

Speaking of pictures - your e-pics are gorgeous! You and Brian are uber photogenic and I think Misty really captured your relationship on film. :thumbsup2Just awesome!

So after the planning session, we went back to Pop Century and grabbed lunch in the food court. Nothing exciting . . . just chicken nuggets for me and a burger for my sweetie. I so rarely eat "junk food", it was a real treat for me :-)

Then it was scrubby-shower time . . . Patricia LeJeune was scheduled to arrive at 3pm. I put on a pajama top and some shorts. The pajama top was the only thing I had with a button-down front, which, I just figured would be the best thing to wear.

So, here's the "BEFORE" photo:

Patricia is sooooo AMAZING!!! She's such a sweet and kind lady and she absoultely ROCKS at what she does! I would HIGHLY recommend Patricia to any bride who is considering her.

I asked her about my maid of honor, who would like to have her makeup done, but is allergic to soooo many types of foundation. She's never tried MAC before, though, and I was asking Patricia about it. She offered to come over whenever we get into town, a few days before the wedding, to test some of her makeup on Sonja in a place that wouldn't be too visible, just to see if there's a reaction. I think we're actually going to see if we can get a MAC sample at the mall before we go to Florida. (If there's going to be an issue we'd like to know waaaaayyy in advance). But I just thought it was so sweet for Patricia to offer the test. She said "Just call me, I'll be in the area, I'm sure".

Patricia is awesome!! And you look absolutely gorgeous, amazing and stunning! (One adjective is not enough!!!) :goodvibes

your BEO is great! The roses sound beautiful! Can't wait to see pictures!

Yay for the clean bill of health! I'm sure that is a huge relief to you!

Thanks for the comments and complements! You guys are too sweet!

As promised, here is our initial budget for DFTW:

(NOTE: There was a special promotion that came out right as we were about to switch from Escape to Wishes for anyone that signed a contract before the end of June, I think, for a wedding before Dec 16th. They were offering a 10% special discount on all food & beverage, floral, photography, and entertainment - excluding cake, alcoholic beverages, character appearances, etc. Also, if you used Disney for all photography, videography and floral, then the food and beverage discount would be increased to 15%. We're using Misty for photography, so our discounts are 10%)

great job at getting it RIGHT AT your minimum! WOO HOO!!

Thanks! I don't necessarily expect it to stay that way . . . :rotfl:

Great job, ooooh what is a "special enhanced Mickey bar"? That sounds awesome!

The Mickey Bar :thumbsup2 . . . at our planning session we told Karen that we'd really like to have Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars served to our guests as a surprise when we serve the wedding cake. Brian LOVES them! But, we want them to make a nice creation with the ice cream bars . . . sort of "elevate" them to the level of a California Grill dessert. Maybe serve them over a drizzle of caramel with a dollop of whipped cream and a mint leaf?

The fun part is that we don't really know how they're going to turn out or how they'll be presented. It'll be a complete surprise to us, our guests AND Karen, the wedding planner. I'm super-excited!

So, we had a conference call with Karen today. It was super-quick since they'd done a great job on our estimates and everything so far. We had a few teeny little revisions, and that was it. So, yeah, we're totally on track and good to go!

Just noticed our appetizer was censored . . . :lmao: . . . oops!

Appetizer - Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli with Sun-dried Tomato Nectar, ****ake Mushrooms and Basil

WOW...that is impressive...you stayed close to the minimum!!!! I bet you are happy about that!
