And your thoughts?

My thoughts?

Sorry, I don't think. I operate on cheese.

I certainly take most of her comments with a grain of salt...

First, she faults M. Eisner for Small World being closed, like it has to do with a budget cut back. It is going through a full make-over and rehab, including new sound system, some new animatronics, re-pair and redress of doll costumes, complete cleaning...how is this a bad thing?

20K Leagues...I miss this attraction...but the fact is, it did NOT move a lot of people through the queue in a timely fashion, it was NOT the least bit handi-accessible, and people could fall down those stairways. I hope they replace it with something better...although it HAS been a long time in the making.

Replacing fountains with plants...this is nothing new for Disney, one of the worst exaples of this was in Tomorrowland at Disneyland, those former fountains outside of what was the circlevision theater were changed to planters 20 years ago. It saves both energy and water and is much more environmentally friendly...I'll agree the fountain is nicer, but the planters are OK.

The bus issue...we have all over the years, had a bus issue at one time or another. Remember, Disney is still short handed to a certain extent, because of Hurricane Charlie. And no on e is more miserable than folks waiting in the rain. In general, I've noticed great improvements in bus service onmy last several trips.

Food prices...been to a movie theater lately? $3.50 for the same bottle of Coke that Disney charges $2.50 for.

Garbage "carts"...who hasn't seen one of those carts that holds trash bins being wheeled through a park...they've been doing that for years and years, how else do you service the bins throughout the parks...would she rather they be emptied just once per day...imagine the mess then.

Dinorama...and actually, while I don't particularly care for the carnival games, they are very popular at some parks. Personally I do enjoy the spinning coaster, and it is one of the few roller coasters my Mom will ride.

Ride operators at Splash Mountain...did she even think that perhaps the ride stopped to load or unload a wheelchair person. or perhaps to take a log off track in case someone was ill, or to bring more logs on line to handle a busy crowd?

Chlorine in the pools...hello, it is summer...they have to be heavily chlorinated because some young child may have an "accident"...and they need to keep the mosquitoes down after that hurricane.

Mirrors on Universe of Energy...they just had a hurricane, maybe they were struck by something?

Gertie's Ice Cream closed...again..short on CMs due to hurricane.

Ok, where is Gertie's Ice Cream please? (I really don't know)

It's the dinosaur next to the lake across from the Indiana Jones stunt show in MGM. It has an ice cream shop window and is often closed from what I recall.

It was open this past June and July when we went. We got ice cream there both times.

I too have seen a huge decline in the quality and magic of the Disney parks. I started to noticed the quality going down hill in the mid 90's. We always planned our family renuions around the Jolly Holliday Christmas dinner show - it was our favorite family tradition until Disney pulled the plug on it. Then Disney removed my favorite family rides at Epcot like Horizons and World of Motion. Then for the first time I started to see lots of trash on the grounds and floating Coke cups around the swawns in front of the castle (yikes!!:scared1: ) Going to California Adventure was a nightmare. I never dreamed Disney would sink that low. You can tell the imagineers had their hands tied and this park was built on a shoestring budget. I hate this trend of going for thrill rides with no imagination and leaving most of the family out.

The bottom line is it's Michael Ei$ner's fault. Firing imagineers and trying to cut more deals with Walmart has destroyed this once great company. It's very sad. Michael has no clue about making magic. Michael Ei$ner is killing Disney.

Ok, posting one more time since my first post was eaten...

I'm just a newbie here but felt like jumping in. I agree with Chuck's post, first of all.

Trash and yucky bathrooms aren't entirely the Cms' fault. I don't know about anyone else, but over the years at DL, I've seen many guests who were too lazy to walk 10 feet to a nearby trashcan. As for overflowing cans, that's another story. It has to be hard to clean up after thousands of guests on a day where the park is filled to capacity. IMHO, I'd rather see the carts rolling by all day than to see trash spilling out of every can. As for the bathrooms, I've noticed more poopy toilets than dirty floors. If a couple of stalls are clogged up, I can understand where a plunger would be needed. With 6 or 7, I'd have to say that some people have forgotten how to flush. Oh yeah, that must be the CM's job! NOT.

Lines will be long when the place is full. It's a given.

To food is too expensive? Honey, it ain't 1974 anymore. Another given., You're in an AMUSEMENT PARK and they can charge whatever they want to. You'll pay up if you're starving.

It takes more than a sprinkling of pixie dust to refurbish a ride or other attraction. If it only took a few minutes, they'd do it every chance they got.

Sure, people have high expectations of Disney, but that letter bordered on the ridiculous. Did that lady have anything good to say? If she did, I don't remember reading it.

Yes, things are different. Yes, there have been some pretty lame decisions made. Yes, some changes need to be made. However, if you can't find one good thing to say about your experience, why go back? What's the freaking point? There must be *something* that drives people to keep visiting, whether it be nostalgia or the anticipation of new things, or keeping traditions. It's got to be hard, though, if you go with the mindset that it isn't going to be good.

BTW, my family visited a Six Flags park for the first time yesterday, and we all agree that while it's got the appeal of the thrill rides, the caliber of the park itself doesn't touch Disney's worst day. Chipping paint, general run-down type stuff. You'd think that in a park that's not open all year long it would be kept up a lot better.
