26 hours with no power stuck in a hot sticky house, 48hrs of wind beating against your house as parts of it fly off and there is nothing you can do about it.

You listen to the news and all they want to do is tell you to hunker down, cause there is more to come.

But hey we are alive, power is back, the sky is blue, and I got tiles to fix my roof before Ivan hits.

Those of you that are coming down to the event that want to know what its like to be in a hurricane may get the chance. :b

Thanks for all the calls and concern as for now the Oteros are back on the air.

Glad to hear you and Donna are okay.

:Pinkbounc :bounce: :hyper: :wave2: :goodvibes :jumping1: :jumping2: :jumping4: :love1: :cheer2: :rockband: :thewave:

WOOOHOOO!!!!

Soooo glad you guys are OK...

I've never been so glued to the weather channel in my whole entire life... phew...

See you guys sometime soon!!! :teeth:

That during the top part of the storm..he was up on the roof hammering down the roof tiles to stop them from blowing away...I was out on the balcony deck holding the ladder, and it was all I could to not to be blown away, not to mention the palm frons from next door wacking me in the head...did I mention we were soaked...and then our neighbors on both sides heard the hammering and came to see if they could help, and Eddie pointed out their roofs, so then there were three...all hammering on their roofs....

We still lost a ton..and have a huge leak in our bedroom, but Ed was the first one in line at Lowes to get some more....this should be an interesting day...

It is still rainy, and very very windy...still getting bands from Frances as she regroups over the gulf....Who knows..she may still be for the pin event too..w/ Ivan...:(

Thanks for the phone calls and messages....

I thought relief would never show up!

I'm here . . . all by myself . . . tyring to entertain the DIS boards with comedy and humor . . . but I'm doin' a solo! I got no Ed, no Donna (Ed's "straight" girl), no Jeff (and what's HIS excuse, could you tell me???? Like there's a hurricane in flippin' ARIZONA!), and just a hint of Manny now and then. Sheesh!

You guys are "on" for a bit. I have to finish packing, or we won't get there :moped: in time for the Family Pingathering, now co-starring Ivan! :earseek: :scared1: :umbrella:

You DON'T want Ivan as a guest at this event....and what is Jeff's excuse....out haveing a rip roaring labor day week end???? Doesn't he realize that we needed moral support down here???? What is with that?????

Our cell phones wouldn't answer...and everything went to voicemail...which we are getting most of this morning....

We now have a large tornado looming over us w/ a 130 mph shear just by Ponce Inlet, and one by Haines City...

They call it a rotating storm, that culd drop down at any time...

Sooooooo is everyone ready to come and party???? And they just said that Disney is open today....??? I don't know what areas are open....they are dismissing the ride out group at 4PM..and told them to be ready for next week end.... by the way this is a self portrait of me right now....

For about 100 $10.00 pins I installed a 9550 Watt continuous 13,000 Watt spike generator (portable) and a Pro-Trans Manual switch panel wired into my house breaker panel. Decided to buy and install it mid last week.
My entire house is running on generator power.
Well worth the $1000 investment
11am Monday 9/06
Power still out in Dade City.
we are still getting 40-50 MPH gusts and heavy rains still.

Ed & Donna, we sure are glad to see you back online. You all have been in our thoughts & prayers. We've been watching the various news sources for hurricane news throughout the weekend. Just be VERY careful up on the ladder & the roof.

I'm really glad to hear everyone is in one piece down there. Everyone in Florida has been in our thoughts and prayers. Donna, don't tell Matthew that Ed was at Lowes and not at Home Depot, you know how he gets.

Sorry I wasn't around Robyn, you don't even want to hear my excuse. Seems the State of Arizona requires one to have a special endorsement on their driver's license before you are allowed to drive a motorcycle on their roads. Who knew? And who knew that they would require someone to take a driving test? So while you were holding down the boards, I was out running down DMV personnel with a Harley-Davidson like some kind of crazed bowler. I wonder if I was the first person to get my test results back through a chain link fence? I am not sure what was up with that.

So one question as I start to pack, is it going to rain down there in Florida?

Jeff

Is it going to rain here????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Probably...:D

Of course right now we are still getting up to 70 mph gust w/ a possible tornado cell in it.... and there will be more 'cause those feeder bands are still covering the state coming in from the gulf......where ever Ed got a sunny day in post is beyond me....I think he spent toooo much time on the roof in that wind last night....and he is getting ready to do it again....the neighbors are getting together..

You will all be happy to know that not once did Disney loose their power....So even if Ivan hits while you are hear....you will be in a good place... this time we may be there w/ you :p

And Jeff...did I say Lowes???? MG that mus have been a slip of the tongue.....of course I meant Home Depot.....:teeth:

See you guys soon...the airport is open as of now...if you are driving down 95...there have been a couple of lanes closed in the Daytona area w/ sinkholes..so check w/ AAA before you leave on road conditions...for both 1-4 and 95

I think we've been driving my mom nuts - every opportunity we have, we're watching the Weather Channel, and worrying about all of our Florida friends. Been saying a lot of prayers for y'all, too... hopefully, it was some help!

Actually, I feel sort of guilty - I want to be down there so bad, helping with clean-up and all, but there's no way Brian and I could come down there without the girls (my Dad's not in that good of physical condition to put up with their antics with us absent) - and I doubt we'd be able to get them excused from school.... especially with Ivan bearing down, as well! (My mom would say we're nuts anyway, if we took the girls down there with another hurricane waiting in the wings!)

Please let us know if we can do something from up here! (That feels so shallow...) :(

Keep safe, keep as dry as possible, and keep sane! We're sending you tons and tons of Prayers and Pixie Dust!

lots of love,
Sandy (and Brian, Bonnie & Kellie, too)

ps - and Donna... Ed's got my Push-to-talk number... if Nextel is up and operational, don't hesitate to use it if you want! ::yes::

You all seem like a great group of people. As long as we can get in Friday (since our trip was cancelled last week) we will be waiting for Ivan. I hope all is well. Thanks for posting so much valuable information.

Well if you are going to be around on Saturday September 11 at 8:00 PM, you can join all of us at Pop Century food court where we'll probably be hunkered down trading pins and eating dry cereal.

Jeff

Well I am sure glad to hear that you all made it through and Frances was the loser in this round.
She is going after my sister in Fort Walton Beach as we speak. Kathie's phone lines are down because I can't get through to her. She is supposed to be my nurse for the next few months so she better be hiding inside somewhere.

We all need to make plans now for Ivan. Where can we all meet on Friday so we can all be locked in somewhere together? I will be at WL and I don't think I want the continuous loop of Monsters Inc and Lilo and Stitch for 24 hours when I can be locked somewhere with all of you.
If they plan on locking down WDW again I guess we can all go to Ed's house, or maybe take over a food court somewhere and trade while Ivan blows. Don't forget, we have Chef Mickey's and it's all you can eat. They can't throw us out if we are still eating can they?
Hope to see all of you pin traders and not Ivan next weekend. Peggie

Saw on the news from their helicopter:
Some idiot on top of his roof in the winds repairing the roof. Could it have been...?

I'm glad that you guys came through it more or less ok. I have been reading, watching, and praying for you and all the other Florida folks.

Unfortunately, Gabby's sister, Launda and her husband Tom have had their home destroyed by flooding. They live in the boonies in Deland. Their home is waist deep in water that has been contaminated with septic system waste and of course their well is now polluted too. Launda's new truck is also flooded. Tom's car is stuck in the driveway and it died too. They have lost almost everything they own, including all of Launda's textbooks. Their cats are staying with Gabby's mother. They are staying with a friend and have their dogs with them.

Because Volusia county has not been declared a Federal Disaster Area and because their home owner's insurance doesn't cover flood damage, they have no assistance right now. I feel so sorry for Launda. She is a really great lady. Tom has some health problems and she basically makes things work out on her own. They have been married over 20 years, and let's just say that the majority of people that I know would have bailed on Tom years ago, but Launda has the patience of a saint and a true sense of what commitment is supposed to be all about.

So, when you get down on your knees tonight, don't forget to pray for all those folks in Florida tonight dealing with the wrath of the hurricanes. Maggie

so sad to hear about your friend's plight! Hopefully there will be further assessments of the areas affected and they will qualify for some aid. All those affected will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Im just glad we all made it thru Charley & Frances ok...not 2 mention so GLAD that Ivan isnt gona hit us...!!! Not sure if we could take a storm that big hittin'...!!!

I miss u guys...take care every1...!!!

Buggin'
Amber
