Everyone seems to brag about how great fast pass is at Disney. It's not so great when it runs out at 11:00 AM. Personally I'd love to go back to the day of no fast pass (at Disney) and no express (at Universal) except for onsite hotel guests.

I hate the express pass system at Universal.

(Depending on the ride) at both Disney and Universal, the standby wait can get way longer than anticipated if a crowd of FastPassers/Expressers come through. Some CM's/TM's will let in people at about the ratio of 10:1. However, the worst experience I had of this was at the Dinosaur ride in Animal Kingdom when the ride broke down and built up a huge queue and only Fastpassers were let in for a good 20 minutes or half an hour.

Also the fastpass doesn't actually mean you get on to the ride quicker anyway. You might get an entry about four or five hours later, when you might be able to go through a 20 minute stand-by queue. It's just Disney's way of getting more of your $$. I'd rather stand in-line and appreciate the themeing and the story of the ride, than be tempted by eating or shopping.

When I first moved to Orlando in 2004, Universal still had the free Express machines and since I usually went alone, rarely used. I remember when ROTM opened and the EP's were all gone by 9:30am sometimes. I rarely use the FP's at Disney for the simple reason I usually go alone so it never bothered me one way or the other. I can see why people don't like the Express system since you have to pay for it but I certainly don't believe the FastPass system is that much better...as we can see from the sign on the other thread.

I've been going to Disney since 1975 and I well remember the days before there WAS any kind of FP system in place so I don't worry about it too much.

I love Universal's express! My opinion is that its much better than Disney's Fastpass.

IMO, the worse handling of Fastpass is at Space Mountain. When we were there several years ago, the sign outside said Standyby was 60 minutes, but it was closer to 100 minutes because the castmember would make the standby side wait, even when the fastpass side was empty. We learned our lesson well and now will only ride Space Mountain with fastpasses.

Universal's Express Pass Rocks!!
Even on The Simpsons this summer, the longest we waited was about 1 minutes

You should have seen the que for the regular line! Insane!
