And this is why Diaper Genie is a big problem.,,

Am I the only one who thinks G+ is very similar to the old FP (pre 2014)? You had to be in the park and pull a paper ticket from a machine with a return time. The only difference is that now it's on your phone. People who don't want to rope drop are actually in a better position now because they have the opportunity to get a G+ before entering the park.
It is a similar concept, but I don’t miss having to be physically at a machine to get it. G+ is better than the old fast pass system and FP+ IMO. It has issues for sure. But people pre-decided to hate it because it’s a paid system replacing a free system.
I never said you have to stare at your phone all day. If you want to argue with hyperbole, at least quote the right person.

That said, if you don't care if you get to experience certain attractions, then of course you never have to refresh at all. But there are no "windows". Once the LLs are gone for an attraction its a free for all. Available times could pop up at any time.

The kind of refreshing needed to get these available times requires far more than "glancing down" at your phone here and there, so you are hardly one to be complaining about exaggeration.

But hey, if you spend a lot of time in the park alone, or don't care about the sights and sounds, sure spending time repeatedly swiping on your phone may be an enjoyable pastime. If so, enjoy.

As I said, if you're determined to get any available spot that pops up and "need" to get certain things, yeah it can be distracting. But that's not the only way to get value out of G+, so I stand by my statement its as distracting as you make it. I think it can be leveraged without diminishing the park experience. Apparently you disagree and that's fine, I respect everyone's right to be just as wrong as they want. Sorry it doesn't work for you.

Yup and if you had no idea Fastpass+ was a thing and went to the parks day of, you were too late in booking any of the E-tickets. My sister worked at MK when Fastpass+ was implemented and this was a complaint she heard from guests every single day.
I feel like this is still a problem with genie+… you show up to park opening and you are still going to struggle. And with park reservations can you even show up day of anymore?

There is def no perfect system…

Oh yeah I agree. It's at least a tiny bit more fair since you can have a chance of grabbing an E-ticket vs. everything except for Barnstormer being fully booked 2 months prior.

As I said before, I don't think Disney will ever have a system that pleases everyone.

No - we didn’t “pre-hate it” because it’s paid. It’s because you have to be up at 6:55am every morning to use it to full extent. Because you can’t choose any times. Because you can ride far fewer rides than the old system. That you can’t easily use it to plan a hopping park. That they exclude rides. That you can use it once per ride. The fact that we have to pay for all of those added inconveniences and reductions in product is just icing on the cake.

Now add the overnight 20-30% cost increase with more to come.

Your dismissive statements only prove your lack of critical thinking, at least when applied to this topic. I can only speculate about why this is and whether its a personality trait or a blind spot with this particular company. Regardless of which it is, try to remember, you are not Disney. Disney is not you. Criticisms of the company or its actions are not an attack on you, so no need to react as if they are.

Maybe just a bit of hyperbole there? 7 Dwarves booked up at 2 months, with Peter Pan and Space Mt following not too far behind. But otherwise everything at MK was available day of.

Of course not. But that's not an excuse for a system that clearly is liked by fewer and despised by more than the prior systems.

We know all that now, but there was plenty of pre-hate before anyone knew a single detail about how it work. I would disagree you can ride fewer rides with G+, but that depends on someone's particular touring style.

We knew the vast majority of that long before the system went live.

Thanks for the analysis, but my attitude was only a reaction to your condescension. Perfect example is the notion that I would have to have a blind spot or lack of critical thinking to disagree with you. I never said it's a perfect product, just that this particular criticism of it is exaggerated, which it is.

I do love the irony of calling my statements dismissive, literally in the same sentence where you dismiss my opinion since I apparently can't think critically. Then double down by dismissing me as some kind of Disney bootlicker taking all this personally. Can two intelligent people not just disagree? Me having a different opinion than yours is also not an attack, no need to react as if it is.

Saw a news article about the price increases and decided to pop in and see if the Genie+ LL was still as bad as it was in Feb. Sounds like it. Glad I decided to go with Universal Studios vs Disney for our annual trip next feb for the first time since we purchased DVC in 2004. Universal premium resort with skip the line included, and park to park tickets (with no specific reservations/hr restrictions)...hmmm. Disney needs to get their act together if they truly want repeat customers, rather than the money grab.

We are 100% a Universal family. We decided to do a week at Disney just Last week. My kids are 6, 8, and 12 and only the 6 year old liked disney better. My kids were spoiled with the Universal Express Passes (as was I) and hated how few rides we could do with Genie +. I had a great time, but Universal is definitely a yearly thing for us, but disney will be at least 4 years apart. Too much stress and planning.

Your words. No irony on my part, just the literal truth. Following it up with more of the same doesn't change anything, it only confirms what I said. My only mistake was wasting my time and not putting you on ignore after the first post.

I don't think you know what irony means, and I don't feel like explaining it. I tried to just agree to disagree, admittedly with a bit of snark, but you wouldn't let it go. Feel free to have the last word.

The desert party is over at the Magic Kingdom and it will take at least an hour to walk to the monorail, take to monorails to the Magic Kingdom, tap into MK and walk up a crowded Main Street to Tomorrowland terrace.
it took us about 35 min to get from Remy to be in position for MK fireworks via walking and monorails. Nowhere near an hour and certainly not "at least an hour" -- this was without rushing.

That is pretty decent time. I don't know about OP, but traveling with 3 kids, a stroller, diaper bag, everything takes longer. Add to the mix an older member of the party, any kind of transportation disruption, and I personally wouldn't want to give myself less than the hour window.

Shhh, don’t tell everyone

To get to MK from Remy I would walk out of the IG entrance and take a bus from Beach Club. It would probably be faster than walking all the way to the front of the park and taking two monorails.

Reenforces my point even more. The OP exaggerating that iit takes “at least an hour” is just not accurate
