And They Lived Happily Ever After - A June '11 Disneymoon TR! THE END - NEW PTR!

I have to say, after your ending, I too am worried that Miguel will be missing when you get to your next installment! lol!

I love the pp pics in front of MK, the colors do really pop with your clothing, the sign and the 2011 border. I didn't see any Photo Pass out in front of the train station in May either!

I'm sorry that you didn't like the Tonga Toast. I've only ever had it from Kona, so I wonder if you're right and that makes a difference.

How cool that you got extra fastpasses for Space Mountain by "splitting" up. I've never heard of that happening before.

I'M BACK!!!!! :)

To catch up:: I've yet to eat at SAI, but I'm glad to know the food is good there atleast :)
I'm sad you got a bad Tonga Toast! My DH LOVES that, but we always end up getting it at Kona Cafe.... next time definitely try it again at Kona Cafe~
I am not a big fan of the heat either. This recent trip (just got back tonight! LOL) was HOT HOT HOT!!!! I was sweaty everyday!
My feet didn't hurt on this trip! I bought these fitness flip flops and they worked so well! My feet never ached the whole trip!

I can not wait to hear more about your trip! :)

We are trying the Tonga toast at Captain Cooks when we go and now I am nervous, I hope I get a good piece!! I can see what you mean about the brown banana in there and I think that would gross me out

I can somewhat relate with the Tonga Toast. I had it one morning at Kona, and even though I like bananas, I just didn't like them in the middle of the toast. I think it would be prefect if they would make a version without them, but then I guess it wouldn't be the same. If I could just have the toast without the bananas with some of the strawberry topping and syrup I would be great!

Sorry you didn't make it to rope drop. It took us a few times before we actually made it as well!

Hi! I am new to posting (just getting the courage up :goodvibes) but I have been lurking on your TR for awhile. I have really enjoyed reading it! You made a beautiful bride!

Sorry you didn't like the Tonga toast...I like bananas but I am funny about brown ones too:lmao:

I can't wait to read more!

/
I completely agree with you on the Tonga Toast. Before I went on my last trip, I read a ton of reports that praised the toast, but when I tried it, I thought it was too sweet and very doughy. We're just one of those rare DISboards people that prefer something else.

I think you should try the Tonga Toast at Kona before ruling it out forever. Its delicious there.

Ohh man I hope Miguel feels better!!

Funny about the Tonga Toast, I have ALWAYS wanted to try it, but after reading your report, I'm okay to let it pass (I LOVE bananas, but they have to be the perfect ripeness)!

What a fun morning-- Space Mountain was definitely kinder to you guys than it was to us! Those extra FastPasses were a great perk!

great update!!!
i can totally relate to how miguel is feeling in the heat!
Glad you were handling it well!!!

I clearly watch waaaay too much today because with that ending, I completely thought that Miguel was going to be missing when you got back with his water :rotfl2:

I never get the appeal of Tonga Toast either. Or Dole Whips. And yet with both, I like all the ingredients in them.

Love the PP pics at the beginning. You are right, the color does make them. Do you know that in all our trips to MK on this trip, we didn't see PP photographers out in front of the train station ONCE? It was really weird. I thought they had gotten rid of them until i saw your pics.

I wasn't crazy about the Dole Whips, either. I didn't dislike it, but I only had one the whole time.

How strange that the PP photographers weren't out front! You would think that would be a prime spot because of the new banner. :confused3

I'm sorry you didn't like Tonga Toast. If you didn't like it at Captain Cooks, I don't think you'll like it at Kona either. The bananas do get a little brown, because they are cooked, and they are usually pretty mushy. I've had the Tonga Toast both places and they are virtually identical. Well the good thing is that now when you go back to Kona for breakfast, you won't have to worry about deciding between the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes and the Tonga toast.

I love the picture you took of the BTMRR with the cactus. It is very artistic!

I hope that Miguel feels OK!

I'm sad to hear Kona's Tonga Toast is pretty much the same as CC's, although I figured that might be the case. I would love to try the macadamia nut pancakes, though! They sound so yummy! :thumbsup2

Great update! While I love Tonga Toast, I can totally see why it doesn't appeal to everyone. Definitely give it a try at Kona someday, though!

Congrats on managing well with the heat. I find myself getting quite miserable when it gets too hot...I just have to keep reminding myself that it's better to be hot at Disney than hot at home : )

I hate to be hot, too, but I think I was too distracted by everything around me to notice. It is definitely better to be hot at Disney than at home!

That Tonga Toast looks amazing..haha I never had it. Love Space mountain. It is my all time favorite ride. I am not a huge fan of the racing cars either and will only go on them if there is a very short line. It is always packed for some reason and I don't waste any time waiting on line for that ride.

For me it definitely looked better than it tasted. :sad2:

I didn't realize I was creating such a cliffhanger! :lmao: I thought the bright colors might look good with the new theme!

I'm sorry that you didn't like the Tonga Toast. I've only ever had it from Kona, so I wonder if you're right and that makes a difference.

How cool that you got extra fastpasses for Space Mountain by "splitting" up. I've never heard of that happening before.

That was our first time getting a special FP, too. I wish it happened more often!

I think if you're funny about your bananas, then you might not like the Tonga Toast, either. I am super picky about the texture of my food. I hope your piece ends up being better than mine was! :goodvibes

Super cute that Miguel got so excited for the Tomorrowland Speedway. :cutie:

He was super excited! It was pretty cute.

Your version of Tonga Toast sounds really good! I think I would like it without the bananas, too.

We've been trying to make rope drop for over 3 years and we've yet to do it. :lmao: The closest we've come is hearing the tail end of the music (at the AK, so we didn't actually see anything).

:welcome: Thanks so much for joining in and for saying hello! I hope you will stick around. :goodvibes

I think brown bananas are so gross! :lmao:

I think you should try the Tonga Toast at Kona before ruling it out forever. Its delicious there.

I think I will give it just one more shot. I really want to like it!

Funny about the Tonga Toast, I have ALWAYS wanted to try it, but after reading your report, I'm okay to let it pass (I LOVE bananas, but they have to be the perfect ripeness)!

I am very picky about bananas, too. Thankfully Kona has some other things I would like to try. :thumbsup2

What a fun morning-- Space Mountain was definitely kinder to you guys than it was to us! Those extra FastPasses were a great perk!

We were really excited to get the special FPs! :goodvibes

great update!!!

Glad you were handling it well!!!

Thank you! I was pretty impressed with my ability to tolerate the heat. That is very unusual for me!

Hi everyone! I was fully intending to get up another update before now (like I do every week) but, like every week, it didn’t happen. With only 4 months left until our next trip to Disney, I am aching to get a PTR started, but I really, really want to get this TR taken care of before I start another report. So, I think I am going to post 2 updates today and hopefully this week I’ll manage to update before the weekend! Day 5 part 2 will be on this post, and part 3 will be immediately following.

DAY 5 – Pt. 2

After securing our BTMRR FPs, I went off to find Miguel since I had left him there to recouperate a bit since the heat was really getting to him! Thankfully, he was right where I left him. I think he was far too tired to wander off anywhere! He very much enjoyed the bottle of water that I had picked up for him at the Briar Patch, and with a bit of a renewed energy, we were ready to explore some more of AdventureLand!

By this point, it was about 11:00, and both of us were feeling kind of hungry. Me since I only picked at my Tonga Toast and Miguel since he hadn’t eaten anything at all! We still had about 2 hours until our lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern, so while I didn’t want to ruin our meal, I didn’t think we could make it to 1:00 without a small snack.

I had remembered reading about the egg roll carts in AdventureLand, so I went to get a couple of those for Miguel and I.
5cf99102.jpg

These were very tasty and were the perfect snack. We both still had our appetites for LTT, but we also weren’t going to starve before we made it there.

After our snack, we decided to try out the Jungle Cruise, since the wait time was only 20 minutes.

fe1e4159.jpg

Even though we had been on the JC before, this was kind of a new experience for us, because our last (and only) ride had been at night, and I felt like going during the day might show us even more of the attraction.

We did end up waiting the full 20 minutes, but once again, the wait was actually sort of refreshing because it was cooler in the queue then it was out in the park. Before long, our boat was ready to take us on our cruise!

We got a seat right next to the “captain” who immediately noticed our just married buttons. She made the whole boat clap for us and scolded Miguel because, “when your wife asked to go on a cruise for your honeymoon, I DON’T think this is what she meant”. It was pretty funny, but Miguel and I are both so shy so we were kind of embarrassed at the same time! Thankfully about half of the boat was from Brazil and I could tell that they didn’t understand what she was saying! LOL.

I really like the Jungle Cruise – I think all of the jokes are so funny! Miguel isn’t quite as big a fan, but this has definitely become a must do for us now.

Next up, we decided to go through the Swiss Family Robinson tree house. This was a new experience for us, so we were excited! I think Miguel thought that there was a little more to it than it really was, but I enjoyed it!

All of the themeing is so detailed. I really felt as though I was seeing a real family’s home.
94349002.jpg

The best part, though, was the amazing views of the park!

After we climbed back down the tree, we decided to venture back to Liberty Square to do the Haunted Mansion.

Since we had already seen the new interactive features in the queue, we took the direct route to the foyer! I really like that there is a choice.
da7258e8.jpg

The HM was fun as always, and we loved getting out of the heat and off of our feet for a while!

Finally, it was time to check in for our ADR at Liberty Tree, which was good because our egg rolls had pretty much worn off.
229129ae.jpg

The waiting area was pretty crowded, and I could just tell that there were lots of people trying for walk up reservations.

fff03dc0.jpg

We waited about 10 minutes or so before our name was finally called and we were led to our table, which was decorated with confetti!
196e09b9.jpg

I was planning to order some of the tavern fried cheese since I have read so many positive reviews of it, but the toffee cake also sounded really good, and I just didn’t think I could manage a three course meal, so I decided to skip the cheese and we went right in for our entrees. Miguel ordered the chicken pasta, and I choose the roast beef sandwich.

6fd1e089.jpg

Miguel’s pasta was really good. He really enjoyed it and I had to have a few bites, too! My sandwich, on the other hand, was not so good. This was another dish that I had read really positive review of, but the flavors just didn’t work for me. I think the main thing I disliked was the bread. It was too thick and the seeds on top of it didn’t really “go” with the rest of the sandwich. The fries, were really good, though. If we go to LTT again, I will just get a burger and hope that that is better than the roast beef!

The only good thing about my sandwich being not so great was that I had plenty of room for desert, so I was able to order the toffee cake just like I had planned.
6a1031f0.jpg

This was really good! A little too sweet for me to eat too much of it, but I did enjoy it. I am glad that at least part of our meal at LTT lived up to the hype. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here, and we would probably return, but it won’t be a must-do either.

After our lunch, we were both feeling pretty tired and were ready to get back to the Poly, but we also wanted to use at least one set of our FPs before we left the park. We had lots to choose from!
ba4288a4.jpg

So what did we end up choosing?
de0f273e.jpg

Splash of course! Since we were getting ready to leave the park, we had no problem getting a little wet.

We decided to take a different mode of transportation back to the Poly and hopped on the resort launch! I was really excited about getting to take the boat to and from the MK, and we hadn’t even done so yet!

e9522407.jpg

It was a really peaceful ride, and we found ourselves docking at the Poly marina in no time.
381997bd.jpg

We made it back to our room, it was not long before we heard a knock at our door. I figured it was just room service, but was surprised to find a CM holding two gifts when I opened the door. In honor of our one-week anniversary (they actually delivered it a day early), my father sent Miguel and I a really cute flower arrangement that was displayed in a Minnie Mouse mug, and a gift basket that was full of lots of goodies.
ae6d98eb.jpg

The basket was in the shape of a Mickey head, and it had a bottle of Champagne, chocolates, cookies, two Champagne flutes with etched Mickey heads, and a matted picture of Mickey and Minnie that was signed by them. It was a great surprise!

After I had called to thank my father for the gift, Miguel and I both settled in for an afternoon nap. A storm was approaching and it was the perfect weather to fall asleep in!

DAY 5 – Pt. 3

When we woke up from our naps, I was a little concerned because the skies still looked a little ominous. The rain had pretty much stopped, but I was worried that the rain would start up again, which wouldn’t be good because we had the dessert party planned that night.

We wanted to give ourselves plenty of time to get to the park and to find some dinner somewhere before the party started at 9:00, so around 7:00 we headed out for the Magic Kingdom. Sadly, I made a bit of a mistake and completely forgot about our ponchos! When we got to the park it was pouring, so we had to rush into the little store that is right at the entrance area and pick up two more ponchos. I was kicking myself for not bringing them!
05cb0ead.jpg

Once we were poncho-ed up, we decided to brave the rain in search of some food! Our first choice was Cosmic Rays since it was the closet CS place, and we had never eaten there. Unfortunately, everyone seemed to have the same idea we did, because the restaurant was packed! There were people actually eating on the floor, and we decided that we would be better off going somewhere else instead of risking not having a seat to sit down and enjoy our meal.

So back out into the rain we went in search of some food. After a bit of a debate, we finally decided on our MK stand-by – Pecos Bills!
876d479a.jpg

Pecos Bills had become a haven for people escaping the rain, too, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as Cosmic Rays had been. We ordered our food, visited the fixins bar, and thankfully found a seat with no problem.

For his dinner, Miguel chose the BBQ sandwich, which is what he always gets when we go to Pecos Bills. I did take a picture, but the quality was really bad so you can’t even make out what it is. Sorry! I went with the deluxe cheeseburger, accidentally actually, and ended up with a burger with BBQ sauce and an onion ring. I took the onion ring off, and thankfully most of the BBQ sauce went along with it.
9cc18a71.jpg

My burger was similar to the one that I had gotten from Captain Cooks earlier in the week in that it kind of tasted like it had been cooked in the microwave. Thankfully I had the “fixins” to cover up some of the taste, but it was still a little disappointing. The fries were yummy, though, and it was nice to get out of the rain!

Once we finished up our meal, we had about an hour before the dessert party began, and I had planned on getting in line at about 8:45. The rain had stopped at that point, so we just casually walked through Frontierland, then Liberty Square and then we made it to the hub where we stopped to take some PP pictures. Sadly, our photographer that night was not very good, so the pictures aren’t even worth sharing. They were all really blurry and there was a huge cluster of balloons covering our faces for most of them.

By that point, it was close to party time, so we made our way to Tommorland to the Tommorrowland Terrace where the party is held. We walked by the entrance to the party area and I stopped to ask one of the CMs there how we went about checking in. He didn’t even answer me – just pointed me to the back of the line, which wasn’t even visible from where we were standing. Luckily, he was the only rude CM that we came across that week.

We wandered back to the back of the line, which was wrapped all the way around the back of the terrace area. I couldn’t believe how long the line was already, even though we had made it to the line by about 8:40. I was worried that a lot of our party time would be taken up getting checked in, but thankfully we were all checked in by 9:00. I would recommend getting there at least 30 minutes early, if not more if you go to the party though, just so you can get checked in early and get to your seat.

Once we made it in, we were led to our table, which was right up front!
423581af.jpg

We found out that the two-seater tables got the best views, so we were very happy about that! We didn’t waste any time getting up to the buffet, where we loaded up on tons of yummy desserts. I will not even begin to try to remember what they all were, but here is what they looked like!

df1387c6.jpg

I was pretty impressed with the quality of the desserts, since I had read that some people didn’t find them to be too great, but we enjoyed them. I was also really impressed with the variety. There were, I believe, 4 different buffets set up that all had different treats on them, plus the drink station which had milk, water, lemonade and coffee.

I was also happy to see a PP photographer there, so we were able to gets some shots with the castle in the distance!
74e849f9.jpg

We finished up our desserts just in time for the new Magic, Memories and You show, which I was really excited about.
66f14493.jpg

3527f311.jpg

Amazing is really all I need to say about this show. I was so, so impressed by it, and I definitely got a little teary-eyed! I couldn’t believe how they transformed the castle with the lights and pictures – I imagine it is even better when watching it at a closer distance!

Finally, it was time for Wishes to begin! The majority of the reports on the dessert party that I read said that most people got up and went to the railings once the fireworks began. I was really, really hoping that our group would stay seated, because being able to watch the show comfortably in a chair was the main reason I booked the dessert party! I am happy to report that that is exactly what happened! There was one little girl and her mother that went up to the railing, but they were far off to the side, so they didn’t obstruct any one else’s view. I was so thankful that people stayed seated!

I decided not to take any pictures, and to just sit back and enjoy the show. Wow! What an amazing view! I felt like I got to see Wishes from so many different perspectives on this trip, but there is nothing like having it right in front of you like that!

Overall, we really enjoyed the dessert party. I know some people are slightly disappointed in it, and I can see how that would be the case if your table wasn’t the best or it a lot of people crowded the railings. In some ways, I guess it’s just the luck of the draw, but we were definitely dealt an amazing hand that night! The only complaint I have is with the rude CM and how no one really gives you instruction, you just have to figure out the check in process yourself. Other than that, it was an incredible experience and I am so glad that we did it.

The Magic Kingdom was having EMH that night, so we decided to hang around the park for a while and use up some of the FPs that we hadn’t gotten to earlier. Since we were already in Tomorrowland, we headed over to Space Mountain.
6cdc7952.jpg

After that, we tried out the People Mover (or the TTA, which is it, now?)
11130c2c.jpg

Once we got done with the attractions that we wanted to do, we noticed that there was a dance party going on at Stitch’s club, so we stopped to watch that for a while and we had so much fun! Goofy, Stitch and Pluto were all out and were dancing with the park-goers.
3c29a3c8.jpg

9d136aaf.jpg

We probably stood there for a good 30 minutes before I finally drug Miguel away and over to Fantasyland! We normally don’t spend too much time in Fantasyland during the day, but I figured this was the best time to do some of the attractions that are always to busy for us to do. We were going to do Dumbo, but the wait there was a good 40 minutes, so we went over to the Winnie the Pooh ride instead. We loved this! The new queue area is really neat and the ride was so cute. We giggled the whole way!
2e19894b.jpg

Next up, we went over to Peter Pan’s Flight. The wait time was 25 minutes, but I was dying to do it so we went ahead and got in line. We definitely waited the full 25 minutes (if not more), but I’m glad we took the time to do it! This was Miguel’s first time on this attraction and my first time in a long time, and we both really enjoyed it.
7621c750.jpg

By that point, it was nearing midnight. There was still another hour of EMH, and we had tons of FPs, but we were exhausted, so we decided to go ahead and head back to the Poly.

I just love how Main Street looks at night!
677c50fb.jpg

b92d5399.jpg

We decided to take the resort launch back, which is even better at night!
433a4199.jpg

It was so peaceful and romantic, and was the perfect way to end what had been an amazing MK day and night.

Wow, you had a large amount of fastpasses for sure! I was very impressed with that number in your hand.

I'm glad you enjoyed the Dessert Party. I've enjoyed it the two times that we've gone. I do agree that going with a duo gets you the best seat. And the view is great.

Wow, so much to comment on! That Jungle Cruise skipper was funny! Way to put you on the spot, though!!
When we went to the dessert party, we checked in 15 minutes before and were maybe the fourth party in the line. However, everyone stood up at thethe rail 20 minutrs early and was super pushy at the buffet.
