And the Rain, Rain, Rain Came Down, Down Down - or Oy, Fay! Updated 10/1. The End.

I am loving your report! We got there right as your trip was ending, and we kept thinking that we were happy to have missed all of the rain. But reading your report makes me realize that we would have had a good time, no matter what! At least the rain kept the crowds down.....it was PACKED for our trip!!

Can't wait to read more!

We talked about letting Jo know we were abandoning TL, and we were all off for AK.
Pity I didn't get the mesage till we got home that afternoon :rolleyes1 It's OK though as we bailed too :rotfl2:

A guy at the next machine commented that he’d entered the gates right behind me, but I beat him there so badly – so what a fast walker I must be! :confused3
It must be those long legs of yours :thumbsup2

You can quite clearly see the pouring rain in a lot of these!
Great photos, the rain really shows in the elephant ones!

but the one problem with my nice roomy necked ponchos is that water can really get in around the neck area.
Sorry but :rotfl2:

He wanted to look in the dump shop – gee, all the dinosaur stuff – and I more or less told him that if he didn’t go on the ride, he couldn’t look at the store. :guilty: Nice, no? Dang it. Not so proud of myself there. :
Not bad at all

After a little discussion, we thought we’d try the Yak & Yeti counter service – we’d had enough fries for a bit.
I wanted to go there but all the seating was outside and at the time it was just way too hot, that didn't last did it :rotfl2:

did you find T????
Oooooooh I know now :yay: :yay: :yay:

Carrie answered correctly. ;)

No worries. I think we all know I'll be late for something, sometime during the trip, right?! :rotfl:

:rolleyes1 ;)

2 updates!! :cool1: I love the picture D took of you guys in front of that hat! What kind of camera does he have?

It's a Canon S5 IS - it's bulkier than a point-and-shoot and you can either use it as a p-n-s or change all the settings, flash levels, etc., etc., - but it doesn't have the interchangable lenses like a true SLR. He bought it for our anniversary last year. We love it. :thumbsup2

And sitting out on the balcony ,just the 2 of you with some wine..:cloud9: ahhhh

Yep, that covers it! :goodvibes

but,,he loved the ride!! its now his favorite!!

At least you did get him on. ;)

I figured it out Dawn,, "btrim" (dis screen name) posted a few posts before us. she loves giraffes. and she is Dr Belles Mom (CEs best friend) :teacher:

::yes:: Very good! She's my "other mother" - you know, the best friend's mom who takes care of you like you're hers. :goodvibes

Thanks so much for reading! Yes, it was actually, dare I say, kind of nice! No heat, no crowds!

Pity I didn't get the mesage till we got home that afternoon :rolleyes1 It's OK though as we bailed too :rotfl2:

I didn't know that! We were thinking of you, I promise.

Not bad at all

Thank you.

I wanted to go there but all the seating was outside and at the time it was just way too hot, that didn't last did it :rotfl2:

Nope, we were scared of getting poured on mid-meal, though. ;)

Hiya! I've not had a chance to catch up on everything yet but I wanted to let you know that I finally had a chance to start reading. :thumbsup2

WALDO!!!

Yep, sure enough, there was T’s handsome dad and lovely mama. Looking, I may say, fairly lost. ;)

I didn’t call out, because I couldn’t remember their real names, and yelling “Waldo!” just seemed wrong somehow. :rotfl:

But I did text T: “Do I get a prize? I found Waldo!” (I honestly figured she knew where he was…)

She responded, and really did think he was at Flame Tree. Nope. So I may have helped a little in the Waldo round up. :goodvibes

But now I felt bad about not speaking to them, because I could have helped get them to the right spot. :headache: They were long gone, though.

We finished up our lunches (well, the food wasn’t all gone, but we were full…) and we had the EE FP’s burning holes in our pockets. Both boys at this point refused to go again. We tried, but it was no dice.

So, D took the boys and sent me to EE with the FPs. I was able to go twice, no waits in the FP line at all. No rain at this point, either! :yay:

Apparently, they did Kali twice, with no FPs, in the same amount of time.

I called and they were just finishing up, so we switched. D took off for EE and I asked the boys what they wanted to do. Yup, Kali AGAIN. So we went. I got soaked. No line, though. And still no rain!

We finished and no D, so I asked what now? Kali AGAIN. Oh, man. OK. The line was slightly longer, but it was still no more than 10 minutes standby. As we finished this ride up, it started pouring again. :sad2:

D had gotten caught in the outside part of EE on his second go in this downpour, so that was nice for him.

We all met up, and I flat out said I wasn’t doing Kali again. I like it, the lines were short, etc., but that was enough for me.

So we decided to do the Maharajah trail, just to see something different. The tigers were out! Woohoo! We’d missed them last year.

I had to sit down and tend to my feet. :scared: I don’t think I’ve mentioned this yet. Last year, I wound up wearing my Teva flip-flops the whole trip. I hadn’t intended to, but they were so comfy I never switched out to my Teva Pretty Ruggeds, which was my plan. So this year, I just bought a new pair of the flips right before the trip. I wasn’t really even planning on taking a second set of shoes at all, but something V said on our PTR made me throw the Pretty Ruggeds in.

Well, with Fay and the rain, and maybe the newness of the flips, after the first day, I had something like 6 blisters going on my feet. I think it was more the wetness than anything, but I was hobbling. So for DHS and now for AK, I was wearing the others. But they still hit the blister on my baby toes that the flips had formed. And of course in the rain, band-aids weren’t sticking so well. :sad2:

Sorry, just needed to throw that out there. And thanks, V, for whatever you said that made me put a second set of shoes in!

Anyway, whilst I was doing that, a nice CM gave D and the boys a lot of info about whatever deer and cattle and what not we were seeing. :thumbsup2

It was probably around 2:00 at this point – in fact, I know that’s true, because I was thinking about getting out of the park before the parade and the people that might leave afterwards.

The boys were wanting to swim before our ADR at Raglan Road. They were also excited to do some shopping at DTD. D & I did a “date night” last year, but the boys had never been to DTD – we left them at Simba’s Cubhouse there at AKL, which they loved.

But we were on our way out, and the boys expressed interest in ITTBaB. We hadn’t done that last year, either, because we’d been to Epcot the day before and Buzz had freaked out at HISTA.

So, we quickly jumped into the line – there was no one outside. I kind of wish we’d been able to go a little slower because I like looking at the carvings, but that’s fine. It was maybe a 5 minute wait before the show. We were all having fun laughing at each other with the bug glasses.

We were doing well, but indeed Buzz freaked when the grasshoppers came. He was flat out screaming/bawling. Oops. But I will say that when we left, he talked about how funny it was.

I needed the ladies room, and the kids were watching some birds, so I headed off, thinking they would wander my way. I stopped on the way back to get these:

Gotta get the tree shot:

What are these crazy ladies up to now?
IMG_3305.jpg

Whilst I was playing photographer, there was a Dream Team member blowing bubbles about. I smiled and we chatted a while. She helped me pick up a poncho that fell out of my bag when I got the camera out. But that was it. Dang! :upsidedow

I saw no sign of D & the boys, so I headed back toward the exit of ITTBaB. Slight miscommunication, as he was waiting for me to come back. Sigh.

We headed out to the bus stop and didn’t have to wait too long – maybe 10 minutes? – for a bus. We did joke a little, because when you’re at the AKL it seems like the AK buses come every 3 minutes, but of course not now… Still, it wasn’t long.

We went back to the room, got changed into swimwear and hit the pool. It was, of course, raining again, but the boys still had fun. D & I got an adult beverage and sat in the hot tub for a bit. :thumbsup2

We headed back in around 4:45 to get showered up. Our ADR at Raglan Road was for 6:30, so I wanted to be at the bus stop by 5:30, just in case we missed a bus. DTD does seem to be the worst as far as wait time at the AKL.

We made it downstairs on time, and our timing was pretty good. I think we arrived at the second DTD stop at around 6:15. We were seated right away. D & I ordered a Guinness and a Harp, respectively, and I tried to order the Crock o’ Pate. YUM. But it was the only thing on the menu that they didn’t have that night. Dang! :sad2:

We got calamari instead – the boys love it – and it was good. D ordered a fish, I think. I got the Shepherd’s Pie, Buzz & Woody both did burgers. We were all very happy with our food. Then, dessert. Ohhh… :lovestruc D had the crème brulee, I had the Dunbrody’s Kiss, and the boys both went with ice cream.

As we came out, it was once again pouring. We beelined for the World of Disney. D doesn’t love shopping, so he was feeling a little cranky, I think, because of the crowds (probably the largest crowd we’d seen all day was in that store…) and the sheer size. We wandered and the boys were starting to have problems with meltdowns over the decisions of what to get.

We wound up leaving with some Mickey pasta, and two little packs of Star Wars mini figures. So, I think I spent $14!!! I can’t believe I escaped with that total. :cool1:

We were pretty much done at this point, so we headed on out.

Side note: I knew a bunch of my friends were meeting at the Poly this night. I really did want to go, but I didn’t think I could in good conscience leave D to take the boys shopping, knowing how he loves it. I briefly debated asking him to get them back to the AKL on his own, and me heading to the Poly, but it was getting kind of late. Turns out I would have missed them, so I guess it’s good I didn’t try that. Still, I was sad to miss out on the meet. :sad1:

We had another 10 minute bus wait – not bad – and the boys fell asleep on the bus ride home. Thank goodness for our close room.

I feel fairly sure that D & I must have had wine on the balcony, because that’s what we did every night.

Sorry about the lack of pictures – this was indeed a very rainy day. I promise there's more for the next day...

Oops, I got these from our balcony, likely whilst we were changing for the pool, or maybe for DTD:

That ITTBAB...It's skeeeery!!! ::yes::

You don't realize it so much when you're a big people...but imagine being like 6 and having a poisonous bug squirt it's juice in your face. I'd probably cry too.

And too bad about not making it over to the Poly. You're pineapple must still be sitting there...full of Lapu juice.

Hmmmm...maybe if I say I'm CE, they'll give it to me!!! :hyper:

Yeah, you're right. He really loved the moving seat bit at the end, though, so it wasn't a total loss. ;)

Hmmmm...maybe if I say I'm CE, they'll give it to me!!! :hyper:

You should definitely try it. :thumbsup2

I had the same issue with new Teva flip flops in 08.

I didn’t call out, because I couldn’t remember their real names, and yelling “Waldo!” just seemed wrong somehow. :rotfl:
:lmao: You sooo should have! Mo did! :lmao:

But I did text T: “Do I get a prize? I found Waldo!” (I honestly figured she knew where he was…)
I still owe you that prize, don't I? ;)

So we decided to do the Maharajah trail, just to see something different. The tigers were out! Woohoo! We’d missed them last year.
Wow, you were everywhere we were - you'd think we'd have run into eachother at some point, KWIM? :confused3

I'm going to have to say it was probably the wetness. My CROCS, which have NEVER given me blisters, TFI, started to give me a couple of hot spots. OH and the only thing that held up as far as coverage was MoleSkin. :thumbsup2

Whilst I was playing photographer, there was a Dream Team member blowing bubbles about. I smiled and we chatted a while. She helped me pick up a poncho that fell out of my bag when I got the camera out. But that was it. Dang! :upsidedow
But did you catch a bubble? I have a theory on Dream Team bubble catching. Coming up soon! (Sorry for the plug! ;) )

I don't blame the boys one bit! Seriously, I was about to have a melt-down in that store! It was NUTS! :scared:

We wound up leaving with some Mickey pasta, and two little packs of Star Wars mini figures. So, I think I spent $14!!! I can’t believe I escaped with that total. :cool1:
WHAT? Can I have your kids??? :worship:

Still, I was sad to miss out on the meet. :sad1:
Dude, I missed you not being there!

Phew! I'm finally caught up!!

Okay, hold everything - time for carification... V was NOT late! I was with T the whole time, meaning that I made AIS time :thumbsup2

I may or may not have been late later in the trip... :rolleyes1

Yes, I can vouch for V, she did make AIS time, even if we changed AIS time 3 times! :lmao:

I can vouch for her too...I was there as well...:thumbsup2

WALDO!!!

Yep, sure enough, there was T’s handsome dad and lovely mama. Looking, I may say, fairly lost. ;)

Too funny!! That was text was one of the funnier moments I think I heard about!!:lmao:

But he made it through the show though...that shows guts!:thumbsup2 Way to go Buzz!!

I was really hoping you'd surprise us!

But I did text T: “Do I get a prize? I found Waldo!”
Hands' down, one of the funniest moments of my trip! Really, I think I choked on my sandwich I was lughing so hard!

As we finished this ride up, it started pouring again. :sad2:
LOL, another surreal moment... I remember exactly where I was at that moment!

And thanks, V, for whatever you said that made me put a second set of shoes in!
Happy to be of service! And I'm always in favor of bringing more shoes rather than less. ;)

Whilst I was playing photographer, there was a Dream Team member blowing bubbles about. I smiled and we chatted a while. She helped me pick up a poncho that fell out of my bag when I got the camera out. But that was it.
Helpful - yes. Magical? Not so much. :sad2:

Still, I was sad to miss out on the meet. :sad1:
Next time CE, next time!

Too funny!! That was text was one of the funnier moments I think I heard about!!:lmao:

Thanks, I think I was "on" that day! :rotfl:

I was really hoping you'd surprise us!

Me, too.

Hands' down, one of the funniest moments of my trip! Really, I think I choked on my sandwich I was lughing so hard!

I didn't mean to endanger anyone. ;)

LOL, another surreal moment... I remember exactly where I was at that moment!

::yes:: it's funny how that's happening as I read everyone's reports.

Helpful - yes. Magical? Not so much. :sad2:

That's what I thought. :rotfl:

Next time CE, next time!

Yes, ma'am! :thumbsup2

I'm sorry!:guilty: Didn't want to call too early!
It's OK, we'd gathered it was cancelled!

I didn't know that! We were thinking of you, I promise.
Honestly it was fine :goodvibes

But I did text T: “Do I get a prize? I found Waldo!”
Oh CE that is hilarious :rotfl2:

Ouch, did the blisters get better? It was so hard to know what footwear to wear wasn't it!

We were doing well, but indeed Buzz freaked when the grasshoppers came. He was flat out screaming/bawling. Oops. But I will say that when we left, he talked about how funny it was.
My girls still won't go on it!

Whilst I was playing photographer, there was a Dream Team member blowing bubbles about. I smiled and we chatted a while. She helped me pick up a poncho that fell out of my bag when I got the camera out. But that was it. Dang!
We didn't even get that :rotfl2:

We missed you too

WALDO!!!

Yep, sure enough, there was T’s handsome dad and lovely mama. Looking, I may say, fairly lost. ;)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Hey T, you could start hiring people to find Waldo for you:thumbsup2

We finished up our lunches (well, the food wasn’t all gone, but we were full…) and we had the EE FP’s burning holes in our pockets. Both boys at this point refused to go again. We tried, but it was no dice.

At least you got the boys on it. Jimmy wouldn't even consider it:sad2:

We were doing well, but indeed Buzz freaked when the grasshoppers came. He was flat out screaming/bawling. Oops. But I will say that when we left, he talked about how funny it was.

Jimmy HATED this. Didn't cry or scream, but wouldn't put his glasses on and sat on Jim's lap the whole time. No biggie...I hate it too:laughing:

We wound up leaving with some Mickey pasta, and two little packs of Star Wars mini figures. So, I think I spent $14!!! I can’t believe I escaped with that total. :cool1:

I wish I could say the same:sad2:
