The other day I was watching a show on HGTV where they updated someone's bedroom and they did a lavender color scheme. I didn't like it. I just got my March Better Homes & Gardens, and the room on the cover is lavender, as are lots of the things inside.

Lavender seems so "old lady" to me. What do you think?

lavender is "in" for spring in makeup too.

lavender lipstick flatters NO ONE...
i'm not even a fan of lavender eyeshadow.

that the sickly sage greens are out? It does seem like things go in waves. Like all rooms on tv redecoration are the same colors........

Well, way back in the 70s, my mom painted her bedroom and medium lavender (wasn't pale) and we all found the room to be very restful. It is really a soothing color if it is the darker shade.

When I had my son, I painted his nursery a lighter shade of the same lavender and I also found it restful.

Now, I don't really care for it anywhere else in the house nor on my clothing, but it is a nice "bedroom" color.

I think that someone with very dark brown skin would look good in lavender eye shadow...perhaps even lipstick. Pasty white women, don't even THINK about it!

Our guestroom is done in a very light lavender--I believe the color is called "Water Lily." Everything else in the room is white--tons of white pillows, white down comforter, distressed white wood furniture and white sheers in the windows. I'll bring in several bouquets of fresh flowers if we have people staying in it for a little accent color. It's a really feminine look, and also very calming and peaceful. It's actually one of my favorite rooms in the house. :)

There is nothing wrong with Lavender. I just painted my bedroom this summer a bright lavender color. It looks really good. Now my bedding and curtians aren't all lavender though.

Actually depending on your skin tone and hair/eye color, lavender eyeshadow can look good. I have very pale skin with rosey undertones, strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. I am supposed to be wearing lavender, light blues, and light greens. But I do agree, lavender lipstick looks good on no one.

When I worked at a cosmetic store I saw some of the strangest colors in makeup. I saw eyeshadow that was bright orange. And the best ever was the lipstick that was even brighter than this smilie :Pinkbounc .

I  lavender. But not so much for decorating, unless it was just accent pieces. And definitely not for lipstick.

It wouldn't be my choice (too "feminine" for me); however, I stayed in a lovely home where the master bedroom and bath were done in lavender, and (IMHO) it worked. The bedroom furniture was dark, and IIRC there were deeper purple, mulberry and cream accents, but the most prominent color was lavender (e.g. walls, towels).
