So I have to ask...do we have any gamers in the group?

Between Disney, video games, and movies, a psychiatrist would say I have issues with escapism.... :lmao:

I have actually been looking at upgrading my computer, since a lot of the newer games I want to get won't play on my state-of-the-art-5-years-ago machine...

Does my PS2 count? I hope to have some time to get back into Kingdom Hearts 2 again soon.

Totally addicted to Roller Coaster Tycoon!

Been playing version 3 for about a month now.

I love Disney , Movies and sometimes games. Video game playing comes in waves for me sometimes I'll go months where the lawn don't get mowed or the driveway don't get shoveled cause I'm in front of the tv or computer playing games , then I'll go months without picking up a joystick ( you know from a game console <G> )

My favorite is playing Tony Hawk on PS2 on the big screen while networked to play others across the country.

My guy is always shaved with Tat's doing narly tricks <G>

Console systems absolutley count! I'm a Nintendo Fanboy myself, but I also like Playstation (1, 2, and 3). I dont own any PS systems, as I'm saving up for the Wii.

Did someone call?

I'm currently playing The Battle For Wesnoth, an open-source turn-based fantasy strategy game. You don't get any geekier than that.

Or wait... do you? Having kicked a six-month World of Warcraft habit earlier this year, I've gone through Galactic Civilizations II, Civilization III, Starcraft and Fallout phases. Mostly due to the ancient laptop that's all I have to play around on at work.

But I just got a new laptop yesterday, and the first thing I did is install Diablo II.

You want geekier? I run a D&D campaign every Saturday night.

Many may be as geeky as I, but few are geekier.

No, I havent pre-ordered my Wii yet. I'll wait until it's been out a few months (or go for Wal-Mart Christmas sales).

I tried WoW and City of Heroes on free trials, they were both decent. My true addiction is EverQuest. I've been playing it since '01.

Well, Mr Visible, I think you win the geek contest (running a weekly D&D put you over the top!).

My games of choice are the sim games. I've had every version of Civilization (just got IV when I FINALLY bought a laptop last month) and have enjoyed Railroad Tycoon, Colonization, SimCity and others over the years. However, I've lost weeks of my life to Civ (with no regrets).

Mr Visible, you may win the individual event, but I think husbear & I win the team medal. We went to the Oregon Coast last month (we have a 1-week condo in Rockaway Beach). I FINALLY bought a laptop and Civ IV on the way down (no sales tax) and my routine most mornings was get up, Civ for a couple hours while husbear was still asleep, fix breakfast around 10, then civ some more while husbear would read his SF/fantasy paperbacks (all the time leaving the patio door open so we could hear the ocean surf and see the kites flying). Fix lunch around 1, civ/read for a couple more hours and then figure out what we wanted to do for the rest of the day. It was the most relaxing vacation I've have had in I don't know how long!! Usually I'm a commando vacationer (much to husbear's dismay) but that week was really enjoyable!!

I've been of CoH since the game launch, and I regularly play DDO as well. Love many computer games!

CivIV, Heroes of Might & Magic V, Zoo Tycoon 2.

Also I love my Nintendo DS and can't wait for the Wii!

Long time RPGr, CCGr, etc. Although most of those have trailed off over the years.

I go thru long spurts of playing and not playing. A few years ago I really wanted an Xbox so I could put my computer science skills to good use and modify it. :goodvibes Anyway, now I have an Xbox that has a bigger hard drive than my computer but pretty much has nothing on it. :confused3

Anyway, at that point in time I was Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic... I played it both light and dark side... then it was on to Dance Dance Revolution (might have to break that about out again now that I'm thinking about it)... I'd play for a few months then not touch it for a year...

I used to be a big MUD gamer (mostly godWars code). And though I didn't do the D&D games each week, I did something similar. 1-2 times a week my older brother and I would travel for hours out-of-town to play in LARP (Live Action Role Playing) games based on White Wolf's World of Darkness (vampires, werewolves, etc..). It was fun times but I moved away 6 years ago and have only been back a couple of times. It was a great escape from reality and actually my brother still plays.

Ok... back to reality... I have schoolwork to do! :rotfl2:

I only play console games. I just don't find it comfy sitting at a desk and playing a game, but prefer plopping in my comfy chair and playing. Nothing more relaxing than a couple of hours of slashing.

I loved God of War (can a game character be hot?)

And if you love Disney, you should check out the Kingdom Hearts series.

I used to be a storyteller for Werewolf: the Apocolypse LOL

In my family at least, this tendency seems to mostly manifest in those carrying the Y chromosome. Seriously, I believe the house could come down around my boys' ears when they're playing and the'd never notice a thing. Their new fave (last coupla months anyway) is online Nintendo DS. The current household cry of victory and global domination is "WOOT!!!!!! I OWN you like a KIPPER!!!!!" (picked up from chatting with some nascent UK geek)

I DO like Civilization even though I totally suck. It's kinda interesting in a sick sorta way to see exactly how I'm gonna get taken down.

I suspect there's a Wii looming on our holiday horizon as well.

Heh, when I played I played a Ratkin, just to be different. A friend created a Bastet and the ongoing joke was that the mouse beat the cat at everything...

haha, we had some of those running around too... couple of the "werebears" too...

BTW... I actually pulled out the DDR mat today and started playing that again... THANKS! Of course after about 10 minutes I realized why I stopped... I'm not very good at it... :confused3 I blame it on the mat moving around on the floor. :goodvibes :rolleyes1
