Typically it is like pulling teeth to get everyone up bright and early to hit the parks. But today it was just me who had to get her lazy butt out of bed. I had a wake-up call for 6:45 and I was out of bed by 7:00. I showered, got dressed, had a very healthy breakfast:
and I made it out the door by 8:00 and at the entrance of Epcot by 8:30!!! I thought it was funny that while I was on the bus, I heard a grandpa say MK is a red day today when he noticed how long their bus line was. I also had a nice chat with a man on the bus about little things. He asked me how to get to the beach from WDW and I am embarrassed to say that I had no idea! Oh well, I know how to get to the beach from my house.
My first stop was SOARIN!! I grabbed a FP and then got in the standby line. I just love this ride. Its one of those rides you just cant help but smile on IMO. At the end, everyone in the theater clapped still the only attraction Ive been on where guests consistently clap at the end. While waiting for my FP to be active, I rode the Seas ride Im so glad that they decided to do something with the ride here. I has missed the original ride. I cant remember in what order I actually did things next and my notes are not very clear but either way, this was my morning:
I was craving my usual iced latte bad! I grabbed one at the small coffee cart on my way to Future World East (universe of energy/mission:space side). Not too bad. Your basic coffee, skim milk and a few splendas. It did the trick though. I had a mission. And not to take on outer space. To check out the flower and garden festival marketplace in the former Wonders of Life pavilion.
See for a very long time, I had wanted to work at Disney World. Then I learned of the WDW college program. There was no way I could do it while still in school because it would have delayed my graduation with taking time off and all. And my mom (aka the tuition payer) was not having any of that. Plus I wanted to stay and graduate with all my friends. But then I found out that I could still do the program after I finished school as long as I interview while still a college student. Score! I interviewed in March of my senior year and got accepted for the Summer Advantage 2002. I began working at the very end of May 2002 and left shortly after New Years 2003. Why am I rambling about this? Because I was assigned to work attractions in the Wonders of Life. For those of you that remember The Making of Me and Cranium Command that is where I worked! I did the whole no video or flash photography, eating, drinking, etc. spiel. Take a look:
Well the experience itself was amazing. I was in a total funk when I left for weeks because I missed it and all the friends I made so badly. The actual job was a little lacking but my former cast members/friends made it a lot of fun. Shortly thereafter the pavilion closed and then began opening seasonally only. Of course it was never open while I was visiting so I never got to see Cranium Command or The Making of Me again (which I could probably recite verbatim for you). And then I heard it closed for good, except for special events and such. To make a long story even longer, I was VERY excited to get into Dome, as we called it.
I took a lot of pictures walking in. I'll add some dialogue here and there where necessary:
Ok, the picture is not too clear, but this is the mobile that used to actual work in the WoL. The significance of it to me is that one of the hanging things(?) used to hit the top of the Making of Me theater. My friends and I actually had notebooks and watched it from wherever we were stationed trying to find a pattern of when it would hit. We never did though. See - I told you we got a little bored. I promise we did our jobs though and tried to spread magic to all 30 people that would come into the pavilion during the day
Some topiaries inside:
The bench where we had our morning meetings...
