...and a happy New Year! 12/30/2010

We are not staying at AKL Kidani, but we are checking in this afternoon for a week long stay. Last time we stayed there we had a 2BR on the end by the pens where they examine all the animals each day, so we saw all the animals every day. What a great place to stay! Alex

We have stayed at Kidani for one night before(last minute night added to trip), but didnt really get to see much, we had a view of the main entrance...This time I made sure we had savannah view...can't wait!!!

Got our room assignment today, they bumped us up to 2544, a Cat. 9 Deluxe Oceanview room:cheer2:

Also we will be participating the the FE group, sorry we didn't post earlier, it's been a crazy week.

That is a great asssignment.

Congrats on the room, and glad you're joining us in the FE. The more the merrier.

I hope all the others waiting on room numbers get them soon.

I am about a third of the way finished with my fish extender and have the bulk of my gifts, but my mind is still working on more!!!

The time is flying by. It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just a couple of weeks away and then we really begin the countdown. :dance3:

You are so much better on the gifts... I have ideas. Waiting until the cut off before I start working on them, because it determines which ones I select.
I am thinking some thing from Arizona.

BTW... We got our room assignment 5522 !!!!! (which I believe is next to some our our DIS Neighbors and a secret porthole room) We are pretty excited to be up on deck 5.

Laura

Got ours too, 2070 Cat. 9b! :cheer2: So excited to get an upgrade, I was planning to upgrade when we got to the port but now I don't think I have to. Yea! I love that we're mid ship too. I wonder which side we're on as far as docking at CC? anyone know which side is facing the island?

Laura, If you have room 5522 does that mean that "firsttimers" have been reassigned? Alex indicated that he was 5522.

It really is getting closer to cruise time. Glad I have Thanksgiving behind me, and I only have to think about holiday parties and and packing for the cruise. It is going to be a little different packing since we are flying now. I need to be organized.

We had a very heavy frost last night - more like a layer of ice on the cars, and heavy fog this morning. Temperatures around 32.

YIKES... I didn't notice that... Alex did you get a new room assignment? Maybe you upgraded with the Florida rates!
Hopefully they didn't put us all in the same cabin. :confused3

We cooled down here in the desert, it was 45 this morning and only 65 yesterday. Finally feels like fall.

I will make note of the rooms and hopefully we will find out soon who is actually in 5522!!! :confused3

We have had rain for the last couple of days and have been in the high 60's and low 70's. Couple of thunderstorms expected today and then pretty for quite a few days, with temps in the high 50's and 60's. We never know what it is going to be until we get there.

On our May '09 cruise we were in 6080 (also midship) and I think that is the same side of the ship that your room is on and we faced the dock at CC. We sat on our verandah and watched the ship as we came into CC and watched them get the ropes attached to the dock and all that good stuff and when we left we were able to sit and watch the castmembers wave us off. :wave2:
At Port Canaveral we were looking out into the bay. We watched a Carnival ship across the bay leave before us. :sail::boat:
This time we are on the other side and will be facing the terminal. Then I will make the decision which side of the ship I like the best. :woohoo:

Yeah!...You are on the Port Side, If they back into CC, the Starboard side faces the island. FYI... we were on Starboard side and never really viewed CC from our room, as we were too busy spending time on the Island. When we pulled into CC, we were at TopSiders watching.

I am getting more and more excited for this trip!

Got our cabin too! We were slightly upgraded to a Cat 10 cabin #2603. We'll take it! :cool1:

I just got off of a Carnival 5 day out of Galveston with some girlfriends. Boy were my kids jealous! They STILL don't know about this cruise! Hoping we don't spill the beans as we get closer! It will make Christmas morning priceless.

Almost done with FE gifts, unless we have more join of course. Now, to design the FE. That should be fun!

Hi Guys, We got our cabin assignment, upgrade to cat 10 from cat 12. This is great!

Well I guess its time to get going on the FE and gifts, I don't have a clue abt what my FE is going to be, I may use the Christmas stocking that I used last year. (People keep their Christmas decorations up past New Years up, right?)

We'll see what I come up with. Maybe I'll order one from someone on ebay, I have seen some cute ones. I don't think I will be making one though, I have travel for most of Dec.

I was hoping they would call me for a paid upgrade to 9 like last year but I guess that's a no-go! I've had inside cabins which are fine and the split bathroom and extra room will be a nice treat! :)

Another busy afternoon of travel planning. My DD(21) has decided to join us on the cruise. This meant rebooking cruise, flights, hotels, dinner res., etc. All done. Good news is ... my DH and I have our own room. The kids are booked in a category 12 gty. This means my son saves some bucks on his cruise, and we get a room to ourselves - geez that is the second time I have noted that we get a room to ourselves - after 21 years, it will be nice to vacation with the kids but have our own privacy. Everyone wins. Not sure what this means to the FE. I will ask the kids if they want to join in. :cool1::cool1:

I was just able to figure out our room assignment. 2552. I THINK it may be an upgrade but I'm not sure how to tell? I can't seem to find any pics or info about it when I do a "search". :confused3

2552 is s a category 9 - search through the top dashboard. Click Staterooms then deck plan, you can see the location of your room.

Hooray! A cat 9, with a WINDOW! So excited!:cool1: I was hoping to find some actual pics of the room, but no luck. Does anyone know which side of the ship it is on?

You are on the starboard side. This means the same side as the dock at Port Canaveral, and the bay side of Cast Away Cay. Not as if you will be in your room a lot. There are pictures of all rooms on the disney cruise website.

Niki - here is some information on your cabin

But if you want pictures... All the cat 9 rooms are almost the same.

Here is a link about Deck 2 window views and a picture of a room that is mid ship on deck 2 Cat 9. (Check the 2nd page of comments)

Don't know about being better on the gifts, I am just one that always gets or makes extra. That way I have something to fall back on, plus I can always give the excess to the grandkids!!! :lmao:
