...and a happy New Year! 12/30/2010

First of all :welcome: it's always nice to meet new people!
So far I think we have pulled at least 10-12 families into Cat 12 on this cruise, so at least some of us might be sailing in lower categories when December rolls around. ;)

When I called DCL they told me that they ususally only open around 12 rooms for Cat 12. I wonder if that means they are almost out of the cheap rooms?
Something else I was thinking about with the magic being a double dip and both their CC days on either side of our CC day what do you think the chances are that they will do the CC picture with all 3 ships on our sailing? I had heard rumor that they will do it on the repo trip for the Wonder when we get off, but then I was trying to figure out how that would work since the Wonder and the Magic won't even be in the same area on that sailing. But they will be on ours...... hhhmmmm

We sailed for Christmas 2008 on the Magic, and it was an awesome sight to see the Wonder pull up alongside Castaway Cay. It was just a "drive (sail)-by", but it was definitely cool!!

never mind about the photo op rumor that I just started.... I just checked the web site and the Magic has their at sea day on the 7th and the Wonder will be and CC on the 7th so I'm pretty sure they'll do it then.

Terri - I might have been someone to help spur the "rumor" about the 3 ships together. When I was on the 10 night magic.. the schedule was that both the Magic and the Wonder were to be at St Thomas together on the same day and then while Wonder was at CC on the PC cruise on the 7th, the Magic was leaving Nassah at 2pm and there was speculation that the Dream would be crossing at the same time. It was going to be the last time all 3 could be photo op together.

Since the 10 night was changed and I moved to this cruise, I stopped wishing for this Rumor for my sake.

Hi
We just booked this New Years cruise! The price was too good to pass up.
We booked a cat 12, (my husband and I ). We did the Christmas Magic 2009 cruise also. So, I'm really excited to get to do the New Years this year.
I would like to join the FE exchange!
Kiki

I noticed there were a few q's about checking/shipping FE gifts. We shipped ours to the port last Christmas and it was no problem. Here's my previous post:

________________________
I shipped a box of FE gifts for our Dec cruise. I followed the instructions in the DCL FAQ sticky thread at the top of the forum

I shipped mine in a flat rate USPS (large box), for $14.50 postage.

The box is 12x12x 5.5 , I was able to fit all my gifts inside with no problem. The P.O. specifies 2 days shipping in most cases, but I shipped mine a week ahead just to make sure it got there in time. The box was waiting in our cabin.
So easy!

Welcome Kiki!:cheer2:

Thanks for the information on shipping a box to port!

Terri - I think they only have 12 or 13 Cat 12 rooms, but they will over sell these to help fill the ship and then start moving people to other categories. I would say for all those that post on this board, there are probably at least 5 more that no nothing about the DIS and so I would assume if we have 10 families that have booked Cat 12 than there might be 50 that have booked. Just a wild guestimate.

On our Christmas cruise last year, we had a number of people on the boards (at least 12 cabins) that booked Cat 12; almost everyone was offered upgrades, although some of them were paid upgrades (we were offered a cat 9 for $300, which we took!
Check the main boards for upgrade info, it will give you some ideas.- how many upgrades are offered and the approximate date DCL starts offering them.

Kiki - We were on a cruise last October for a 7 night. - We booked Cat 12, received cat 9 at about 45 days out and then we upgraded at the port to a cat 6 for $600. We had a choice of several cat 5 and 1 cat 6 at port.

When we had a may cruise 7 night cat 12, we got a Cat 11 assignment. We had to cancel that cruise.

Welcome, KikiMouse and alikat99.
I have added both of you to the list, so let the fun planning begin!!! :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

Hi Everybody,
I was just wondering have we started a Facebook page for our cruise?? If not do we want to start one? I know that one of my cruise we went on we had a facebook page and it was a great way to get to know each other. :goodvibes

Does everybody have a Facebook account? I don't have a problem with doing that, if everyone else wants to. Otherwise we will double up our efforts here.

To our new cruising friends, please fill out the getting to know you post on page 4.

Nothing has been started yet. I would be game on using it.. since I use Facebook and DIS. What I like is you can keep it private. If someone is willing to set it up, I will join

I know my other cruise has a webpage, but doesn't allow for communications and not private. Our last cruise we tried to use Yahoogroups, but it didn't get much action, but we did get to share pictures and knew what we looked like before getting to the cruise.

I'm game for a private Facebook page, since I'm already on Facebook all the time!!

If I can look at it without an account I'll do that, but I'll NEVER sign up for a facebook account again. I downloaded a virus from them a few months ago and had to have my whole computer erased and start over from scratch. I'm still trying to figure out some of the things I'm missing.

Hi Guys,
No, I'm not on facebook. Some of my friends have had negative experiences and ended up deleting their accounts-
I know they are used a lot for the cruise meets, but I just prefer to use the boards. Thanks!

My whole family (with the exception of DH) have facebook, but I know a lot of people have issues and as with everything else, you have to be carefull since a virus or malware can lurk in even the most innocent looking places. I don't have a problem with the facebook link, but I feel it would leave those that do not have one out and on my other cruise, we all got to know each other very well here on the DIS. Ok, that is my 2 cents worth.

Remember to let me know if you want to be included in the FE and if you have not done the getting to know you post, please do so we can . . . get to know you!!! :dance3:

Can you believe it is only 5 1/2 month til the cruise and also til the end of this year. Time really flies!

Yup... 168 days until we sail :dance3:

Anyone interested in a DIS meet on the ship?

I saw on another website, Cruise TT maybe, that the Magic and Wonder are both supposed to be in St. Thomas at the same time for our cruise? Has this changed?
