Hello there everyone!

Long-time comber (more like lurker) of the DISboards for the enormous wealth of knowledge to help assemble my Opus of a Spreadsheet to analyze & over analyze the decision of when/where to jump into this crazy world of the DVC!

Well today it all fell into place and we have a signed contract, escrow secured and now off to ROFR!

Buyer’s remorse is a regular battle against my frugal nature but this purchase feels good and the joyful moments it will provide the kiddos and our whole family over the years far outweigh any negatives.

I hemmed and hawed over direct or resale but resale won out when a small point total contract came up which gives us the opportunity to dip our toes into Disney life before starting the inevitable fight against involuntary DVC Point Accumulation! If my suspicions are correct, the AP discounts will probably have our family looking at a direct purchase sooner than later (hopefully before the minimum doubles!).

Hoping to be an active participant here and to learn a few more tricks from the seasoned pro-ams on the boards!

Can’t wait to have points in an account and some trips on the books so the grey Midwest winter days which are on the way will have some Florida sunshine to compete with.

Any extra luck laying around (& who doesn’t have too much to spare in a year like this anyways?!) would be greatly appreciated so ROFR is cleared and the closing goes smoothly.

Have a great night & start of the week everyone and stay safe & healthy out there!

Congratulations! If you do end up with buyers remorse then know it's totally normal. We got a great deal on our first contract and I still worried for weeks if I did it right because my offer was accepted and I thought "could I have offered less and still gotten this?!"

You know, time is value. I wished I gotten into DVC sooner, and had many more years of enjoyment instead of keeping on analyzing costs and value, that prevented me from jumping in in 2015/2016. If there's one thing I learn about timeshares, the purchase is long forgotten, once the precious memories keeps on rolling in from the family vacations taken.

So, congrats, and may you have many happy years of DVC vacations.

Great3

Life is short ... waiting for the “just the right time” for all of these types of choices leaves too many of the moments that matter on a perpetual waitlist.

Congratulations and Welcome Home! Your frugal nature makes us kindred spirits and I appreciate the monster spreadsheet as I have one of my own. After several years of wanting to buy in coupled with several months of massive COVID related analysis (cause I had the time to spare), I bought resale as well. Still considering adding on Direct for AP Discounts, but I just can't bring myself to rush to that decision based on the fear of the minimum purchase for perks going up. I admit fully that I have a trip booked in early November (not on my DVC points) and am totally worried that I'll cave and buy my Direct points while on property. For now, enjoy....you got a great deal!

You got a SCREAMING deal too! I bet Mickey will be eyeing that one...

“Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...” 😬

I'm just hoping it's looked at on a Friday close to quitting time and they're feeling generous... Any lost $$$ I'm sure they'll more than make up for when I inevitably have to pry out my wallet for balloons and Dole Whips!
