Anyone stay at this hotel? We had to recently cancel our cruise due to a medical emergency and we really cannot rebook anytime soon, so we are now thinking of just doing a week at Disneyland instead!

Thoughts on this hotel? I can get a decent package that includes this. How far from the park? Better to walk or take the Anaheim Resort Transit? Last time I was at Disney we were walking distance from the park.

The room we are looking at is the kids suite. Easy enough to just eat some meals at the hotel? Thinking of going to a store and buying some microwave friendly meals......

We stayed there in Sept 2009 and have it booked for this December. It's about a 10+ minute walk to the gates. It's right on the corner of Harbor and Katella. We really liked it, the walk felt a little far at night but not far enough to pay for ART and deal with the shuttle. If you do decide to use ART it picks up right in front of the hotel. We really liked the kids suite. The kids (and my mom) slept in the kids room which also has a TV, the mini fridge and microwave and table. We made some quick meals in the room. The fridge wasn't too small, and the freezer in it actually froze our water bottles like we hoped. The bathroom is on the grown up side. There is a mini-mart right on the way to the park so we would stop and grab some fruit or extra water bottles if we needed too. We used promo code WAW for our December trip and got the kids suite for $104/night.

thanks for the promo, I just booked portofino kids suite for this dec. I got a rate of $111, not bad!

Any comments on the walking distance to the Portafino vs. HoJo's? It looks about equal. How do the two compare in terms of space? HoJo's seems to have the nicer pool, any other major differences?

BTW - Costco has a package deal that includes the Kid Suite at Portofino that seems like a slightly better deal. Cost is almost the same but it includes the Costco extras.

Any current photo for portofino suites? I would love to see updated photos and info. I have read reviews that the website photos might be old?

Portofino is slightly further than HOJOs. Maybe a couple of minutes more.

Differences: Portofino's kid suite has a pull out couch instead of chair. It only has one bathroom, though (not sure if HOJOs kids suite has 2 or not). We didn't use the pool at either hotel so I can't compare the two.

Which do you prefer between the two? I have not stayed at HOJO's so I have no exp. With them.

Hojo kids suite has 2 bathrooms.

I've always been a little curious about the Portofino, and you seem to like it. Does it have interior corridors? How was it for cleanliness, noise, parking? Did you use the pool?

I go with the best deal. We stayed in a standard room at HOJOs with the retro rate once. It was fine, convenient, though my double stroller had to be collapsed to get through the hotel room door. I would only stay at HOJOs with the retro rate since we need 2 rooms and the kids suites seem to book fast, and with the new cancellation policy only if I was absolutely positive I wouldn't need to cancel. Portofino is fine too, the kids suite is really convenient with 4 kids.

Wondering the same about Portofino and Carousel. I'm not a fan of exterior hallways, especially with a three year old who likes to unlock things. The Kids Suites at Carousel seem really cute too, and closer. But of course cost is more like the HoJo Kids Suite non-retro rate.

Those seem to be the 3 closest with true Kids suites, at least of what's available during my dates.

Looks like you posted when I was posting, so I totally missed it.

Yes it has interior corridors.
We had zero problems with noise, we faced the pool/parking lot.
It was very clean, lobby is nice.
We didn't use the pool. We had 3 non-swimmers including an infant so it was just easier to enjoy just the parks.

I will be staying at this hotel May 31-June 4. We booked a kid's suite 3 months ago and we got a great deal. I'll be sure to post a review!
