My family and I are going to be tagging along with DH for a conference in the area in July. We plan on adding 3 days so we can enjoy DLR while there. The conference hotel is the Anahiem Hilton. Has anyone stayed there? Pros and cons? The nightly rate is high, $289! I am assuming the conference will have a discounted rate (DH is a presenter and heard about the conference before details like that were announced). His work will cover costs during the conference but afterwards, I am hoping for a better rate. Do prices usually come down closer to the dates? If it stays that high I am considering moving to PPH after the conference is over, thoughts on changing hotels? Just trying to get a general idea of what to expect! Thanks!

Hilton's price going to remain pretty high. It's an upscale full-service hotel.
Usually reserved for business travellers and conference goers.

PPH would be a better option in the price range. Even DLH.

That is pretty high for the Anaheim Hilton. On sites like Trivago, Travelocity or Lastminutetravel.com for cheaper rates...typically under $150.00.

Since I used to work in a business hotel , those rates are normal when a convention is going on. However , almost always they will offer a convention or corporate rate to be booked but not always.
For example our rack rate was $289 - $309 but most our regular travelers would stay from $109-$159. I would highly suggest checking with the conference or hotel even as these rates are typically only for an allocated number of rooms and must be booked in advance.

With that said - if the rate is that high I would definitely think of moving. The DLH is my favorite though the only one I've personally stayed at.
July is a busy season for Disneyland so I would expect rates to be high as well with little to no discount so keep that in mind.

If you are fine with a motel type accomodation Fairfield Inn , HoJo Anaheim , Best Western Park Place Inn are all popular and within walking distance just across the street.

We almost always stay at the Hilton for our trips and it's never that high. I would assume it's high because of the conference and will return to normal after. I'm sure the conference rates will be lower also. It's a nice hotel, kids splash area by the pool, Starbucks in the lobby. The Toy Story parking lot is across the street so it's easy to catch the shuttle to the parks. The walk isn't long either, but we usually take the shuttle back at night when we're tired.

We stayed at the Hilton in August for $129 a night. There was no convention going on at that time. The hotel itself is fine, customer service is non existent. While checkin was quick, any interaction with employees after that (gift shop, bell desk, housekeeping) felt like we were bothering them.

Don't count on food places being open. We went to get Starbucks at 4 pm on the way back to the park and they were closed. We asked the next day because they are suppose to close at 7, and the worker said they close when they feel like it. Outrageous! Another day the pool bar was open and food looked good. So we planned on swimming and eating the next day. The pool bar was suppose to open at 11, we finally left the pool at 2 and it still wasn't open. The pool however is very fun for little ones.

Rooms are extremely small and the bathrooms only have a sliding door, nothing that can be locked.

We rode ART, which was very easy. We did walk back twice at night and it was just a little too long of walk for my then 5 & 8 year old.

Bottom line, if you can't get a cheap rate (like under $150) I would stay somewhere else.

I don't know your dates, but I put July 9th into lmtclub and got the Hilton for 117. It may even be lower if the extra days you are spending are weekdays. A couple years ago it was going for $85 for most of the year.

I've never seen normal rooms at Hilton at, or stay at, that rate. That's just silly. We were there this July, not 2 weeks after the official 60th anniversary, for 165/night.

The Hilton is a convention hotel, so if they raised it that high for every convention they would always be that high.

They do charge for parking, and the buffet breakfast, while really good, is VERY expensive, so be aware of that.

We usually get a rate between $99-159 ($159 for the Lanai level with breakfast.) Parking is in the neighborhood of $20 a night. (I think we usually pay $22 for valet, but self parking is $16.)

ETA - Just looked at our next trip there, it is $179 night, includes breakfast for 2.

We've never had a bad experience at the Hilton. Contrary to what was posted above, our interaction with staff has always been good to exceptional. When I lost something in the room, housekeeping found it, security kept it, and it was returned to me graciously and with big smiles. We've been upgraded to rooms with a view of the fireworks and WOC. The Starbucks employees have always been friendly. Yes, their hours are different, but we just ask in the morning so we know whether they'll be open when we return. OP should be able to find lower rates, as many posters have stated. And parking is expensive, so be sure to factor that in to the budget.

Same here. We have only had good experiences at the Hilton. I don't find parking outrageous either - it was $24 across the street at the Marriott and $22 at the Hyatt last time we stayed at those properties. So 16 is on the low side for this quality of hotel.

It's worth knowing, though. Especially if they are booking on a site other than Hilton, where they might have to scroll down or click on things to find out other costs.

We've had good service there, too. This last time was wild. DH, while DS and I were at the laundry room (which is open 24/7 although their info says there are actual hours), slipped and nearly fell out of the shower. There was no bathmat (the grippy things that help you not slip...I'm suddenly not sure I'm using the right word) in the tub, which he didn't toally realize, since the hotel we had been at for a week just before had a bathmat. (Hyatt Regency Long Beach for the record) So he called to ask if we could get a bathmat; while on that call he mentioned he fell, and there were instantly security, etc, people there. They were extremely concerned about him (and, of course, their own selves), and got us the bathmat AND insisted on a compensation that then allowed us to partake in the buffet each morning when that wasn't planned on at all. They would not take "no" for an answer to that compensation. They also called nearly every day, asking if he was OK. They were VERY responsive.

Bell Services was nice, someone was almost always there to open the doors for us, the starbucks was decent (though we only went there once). Our room was nice and big.

The walk was a bit much this July; it was SUPER hot and we were exhausted from a week of DS's dance convention just before. But other times it has been fine (we have actually stayed as far away as the Hilton Garden Inn and that walk was long but totally fine).

Thank you all! I really couldn't find a lot of information out there about this particular hotel. I'm still undecided about switching, but I am thinking I will dig deeper into the rates! The conference is July 13-17 and we are adding the 17-20.

Can I ask what lmtclub is? I have never seen that before?
