Our first DL trip is fast approaching (June) and we are booked at the Anaheim Hilton for our first 2 nights. Can anyone tell me how close the hotel is to the entrance to the parks?

We stayed there for a convention in Nov and I would not say it is close. I would say at least a 15 minute walk to the entrance, depending on how you walk. We just took ART which has a stop right outside.

It's not close.
We've stayed there a few times (using Hilton Honors points) and use the ART bus.

We just stayed there for the first day of our trip, and while it is not close, my kids walk to the Toy Story lot and take the bus from there. Otherwise, it is about a 12-15 mins walk.

For us, it is close enough. We walk to the crosswalk by the Convention Center on Katella or all the way to Disneyland Dr., then cross and walk to the GCH, and enter through the hotel to DCA or DtD. Takes us about 15 minutes (no strollers, wheelchairs, or injuries). We enjoy the walk.

We stay there all the time. We usually walk to DL in the morning and then take the Toy Story shuttle back at night. It's a decent walk, but I wouldn't say it's far.

We are staying at the end of May. It's been years. We plan on walking to the parks. We will be there for the 24 hour event, so hoping the walk isn't terrible.

As everyone has said already, it's not a comfortable walk away. I've stayed there a few times and loved it. It's a gorgeous hotel, and the customer service is great.

I agree. For us it's fine.

Heck, we stayed all the way down near Buca di Beppo in July and walked back and forth each day except for one late-night cab ride. THAT's a long walk. The Hilton, to us, not so much.

It wasn't bad. You go out of the front of the hotel and head twords Harbor. As you get to the corner of the hotel, there is a side road that goes to Katella. that is 1 city block. From there you make a right and go to harbor and Katella, the distance of the new hotel (Sheraton I think) they are building there. Then you have your long city block from Katella to the bus entrance. After that light is about a half city block to the entrance to the walkway between the 2 parks, the security check, then the ticket entrance.

With my 4 year old and I, it took us less than 15 minutes to walk it, although I carried her between Katella and the bus entrance.

Going back we did the same walk, which is more tiring after a long day in the parks.

ALSO!, The hotel will flag a taxi for you if you want. on the way to the park, the taxi actually has to pass the entrance and turn around to go to the drop off point. On the return, the taxi wouldn't let us out until we were at the front door. beware on the return, there is a security line and only 1 car is allowed through at a time, so there could be a wait. On most occasions it was about 10 bucks to take a taxi. There was one occasion where, when at the hotel, we were going to have to wait about 10 minutes to get through the car security line, so we just got out at the curb. the taxi driver was none to pleased with us, be we tossed him a 10 and saved 3 bucks of just sitting and waiting.

I wish I could pull up the route on Google Maps, but I can't because it's not programmed to recognize the plaza in front of the Anaheim Convention Center as a valid footpath (I've seen many footpaths that it would include in routes). This is close:

It's not short, but I'd say it's reasonable. There's a crosswalk across Katella mid block, and that helps. From that point it's smooth walking all the way.

Certainly when we visit, my wife prefers the Hilton. The rates are excellent when there's no major convention. Often the motels closer to the main entrance have higher rates as the rates at the Hilton dip. Their beds are really comfortable, the ameneties are nice, and customer service is excellent. It is a big hotel though with possible waits to check in and/or check out. They also charge for everything, although I have my ways of getting around some of that. They charge for parking, but so did the Courtyard when we stayed there. If you've got an AT&T internet account (I've have a username on my parents' account) you can access the WiFi for free or you can go down to Starbucks in the lobby.

Thank you for that link, bcla! We just booked the Hilton for September, and everywhere I've looked, I see a different response to how far the walk is. 15 minutes isn't bad at all!
