An "upgrade fee" from lays to cheetos. Seriously?!

We just bought a corndog at the corndog cart and we were given lays for our meal deal. Advertised showing you can have lays, cheetos, or doritos. We paid and was given 2 lays chips. I walked right back and asked for a cheetos to trade for a lays. They said ok just go stand back in line and pay for the upgrade. Are you serious? Anybody else think that is absolutely insane.

How much is the upgrade?

That's ridiculous that you have to pay to upgrade one kind of chip to another unless the bag is significantly bigger.

That's so absurd it actually made me LOL. I've never eaten from the corn dog cart so I don't know if this is the standard policy, but I hope you just got an "off" CM and there really isn't a Cheetos upgrade fee. Talk about nickel and diming. That's like if Subway labeled each of their chip varieties with different prices based on their levels of powdered flavoring.

I know at coke corner they sell a larger bag a la carte, which is maybe what the CM misunderstood you wanted, but otherwise that is crazy. Maybe the ad you saw was just for the a la carte chips. I just buy the corn dog or hot dog without the chips to save the $1.xx for the overpriced chips.

I just buy the corn dog too. I don't particularly like chips and they are way overpriced. I kind of remember there being larger bags of chips at the cart. Anyone know for sure if the other chips there are larger than the ones that come with it?

The fee for complaints is $1.00 + tax. :)
(AP Discounts do not apply)

The best thing I've seen of late are the snack-sized chips being branded as "Large Bag of Chips for $3.29"

They have a 2billion dollar sink hole the company is trying to compensate for. Cut them some slack.

I'd go to Stage Door and get the fries instead of the chips with the corndog. The upgrade fee was probably a misunderstanding.

The upgrade fee exists because they provide you with sani-wipes. They know if you eat cheetos, you're gonna lick that cheese off your fingers...and then catch a cold. This is Disney keeping you healthy. For a fee, of course! :tilt:

I like salty snacks but I don't "have" to have them with my corndog. I order the corndog alone when I get one.

Have heard mixed results on this. I don't need more food with the Corn Dog, would love to just get the dog next time.

Can you do this at the Corn Dog Castle also? Yummmy Hot Links.

That's too funny man! Lol :faint:

OK, went and checked this out today. The Lays bags that come with the hot dog are 1 ounce bags. The "Big Bags", sold individually, are 1.75 ounces, not quite twice the size. (Still a small bag...)

Not sure about other places, but I am positive at the corndog cart and coke corner, you can order just the corn dog/hot dog for about $1.50 less. Default is the combo, but solo is an option if you specify.

I am guessing they only have 1oz lays for the combo, and any other flavors are the 1.75oz "large bags" malcon10t mentioned, available a la carte and possibly for an upgrade fee with the combo. So this may not have been a mistake, but the fee is not just for flavor but size.

That makes sense. The chips that come with the meal are the small bag and likely are only Lays (used to house brand). The upgrade charge is because you get a larger bag.

I tried ordering jsut the dog at Corn Dog Castle and they wouldn't let me. That was probably sometime in the past year. I don't know if it has changed or not.

Corn Dog Castle does only do the combo, but The Red Wagon and the Stage Door does offer the option of just the dog, as does Coke Corner for a hot dog.
