I posted this on the CB also, but with many of Lisa's friends here on the Cooking, Crafting and Scrapping board, thought it good here too..........
Lisa, her ongoing fight with breast cancer a daily fight for several years now, has some updates, and pretty good ones too.
She, her daughter, Emily, and partner, Lynn, all were able to get to WDW early in the month of December for some well deserved relaxation and diversion. With much of her pain still present, she did need a scooter for most of the time she was there, but did do very well getting around and was able to enjoy the time there.
Upon their return home, Lisa needed to be hospitalized for tests and severe hip pain, much of which had necessitated the scooter at WDW. Her test results came back very good earlier this week. They could not find any cancer in her stomach, a very big concern this time with new tumors having shown up earlier. They are not sure what the tumors are, but after several tests could not find cancer cells. The first pathologist thought he saw "funny cells" but retested and sent the sample out and it turned up no cancer.
Lisa will begin chemo again this coming Monday. She says she will be taking gemzar and herceptin and it will be every other Monday, as before. She says that she usually feels flu-like for a day or so and then pretty good. Her hip pain is slowly getting better and, with physical therapy, feels it will improve in time.
So, overall, taking everything into consideration, a pretty good update.
Lisa said this picture was taken on December 12 at the American Showcase in Epcot just before they saw the Candlelight Processional. Lisa is on the left, Lynn is on the right and Emily is front center, cute as a button. And I guess we all know the guy with the beard and his wife. She said this was one of their best nights at Disney and Emily loved that they saw Santa while they were there. Very cool I think.
And lastly, Lisa gives her thanks again for all the support and prayers from the folks here on the DIS. She has a continuing tough road ahead, battling the Beast, but is determined to win. Lisa, I know you will.
