An Unforgettable Finish- Oct 2011 TR **Happily Ever After (Completed 5/3)

I probably already told you this, but on your recommendation, I tried a chewy caramel bar on our last WDW trip. And then I tried another one the next day. And then a couple days later, I tried another. Oh. My. Goodness. Sooooo delicious. I don't know how you could resist.

It's a shame that the beef was so chewy. The description of that plate sounded delicious.

I don't blame Carter for being upset about the milk all over his clothes. That would drive me crazy too! It's so hard to give little kids drinks in restaurants without the proper containers!

The pictures of the boys with the drums are so good! I love the fact that you seize the moment of these little pieces of time! I wish I had done more of that when Jasmine was little:sad2:

When I started reading your post and you mentioned getting something from the South Korea booth, I kept thinking "not the kimchi, not the kimchi!!!!" I don't know if you like spicy food, but wooooo, oh my goodness was it hot. I thought I was going to die when I got a tiny sliver of it by accident. The boolgogi was really good though. Glad that you liked the lettuce wrap.

Poor Carter being upset when he spilled. According to my mom, I was the same way too. Hated spilling things and got really upset about it.

Glad you had such a great trip! And yay for an adult trip at AKL! :woohoo: What dates are you going? Brandon and I are going for our 2 year anniversary from May 5- May 9, a totally unexpected trip which I'm more excited for than the past 2 trips we took for some reason! :cool1:

We'll be there May 11-13, so we'll just miss you all. That's cool, that you all are going to go back in May, too. I always like to make the most of Annual Passes and fit in as many trips as possible. I'm a lot more excited about this trip than any other of ours recently, but I'm sure that's mostly due to it being a grown ups only trip.

The boys are so cute drumming away! :goodvibes

I can't believe you passed up your beloved Chewy Caramel Bar! :scared1:

Poor Carter being so upset about spilling his milk! Glad y'all were able to get the boys all fresh & clean! And hopefully, they took a nice, long nap after that....

My boys love drumming and they love stopping right there to play for awhile.

It's okay, we planned to come back for the Chewy Caramel Bar later. We thought it would be freshest that way.

I always feel bad for Carter when he gets upset over something like that. I don't know why it bothers him so much. He felt a lot better once he had on dry clothes again.

I'm glad they discovered that the Duffy's weren't loud enough.

Hahah I feel so dumb for even saying this, but that yogurt expired on my birthday. :cool2:

Ugh, having wet clothes is awful, even temporarily.

Carter and Landon felt it was a time for loud drumming and the Duffy's just weren't good enough! :rotfl:

One of the ways I mark time until a trip is watching for when our dairy products will expire during or after the trip. By the time the milk will expire after the trip, it's getting very close.

Carter would definitely agree about the wet clothes. I don't know if I see it, personally. It was a warm day, he would have dried out quickly.

I don't think you did tell me that, but I'm very happy to hear it! I always like to know that someone else appreciates the charms of the chewy caramel bar. I know of all the food at Disney World, the chewy caramel bar is hardest to resist.

I hope maybe we just got a bad piece...the taste of it was actually pretty good, just not easy to eat.

Most of the time, we manage pretty well in restaurants, but there's always a few places that are really hard. The worst is when a restaurant refuses to give the boys water cups with lids. I always like to let the boys handle their own drinks as much as possible, but sometimes, that strategy backfires.

The pictures of the boys with the drums are so good! I love the fact that you seize the moment of these little pieces of time! I wish I had done more of that when Jasmine was little:sad2:

Thanks! I love watching my boys play. I've learned that letting the boys out at little places like that is a good idea. They always have fun and it's nice for us to get to sit and watch them for a bit.

The spiciness of the kimchi really didn't bother us. I think Jeremy and I both like pretty spicy food, and it seemed very tasty. Maybe next year we'll try the boolgogi. That sounded really good, too. Or maybe we'll get both the boolgogi and the lettuce wrap!

I always have a hard time relating to Carter when he gets upset over spills. I'm much more like Landon when it comes to that sort of thing. As I've told Carter many times, no use crying over spilled milk. :confused3

No worries about how you felt about that afternoon. Jason had to do that a few times with Joaquin when we've taken the few trips with him. They just lose their mind sometimes, but I couldn't agree with you more. They need to understand that they're not the boss and it's not okay to run away from mommy and daddy. I did have this vision though of Carter sitting in his stroller and glaring at you like he's been majorly punished. Ah kiddos.

I know exactly how you felt when Landon ran away. On his 1st Disney trip, Reid decided to run away from us at Mickey's Backyard BBQ - out of the pavilion into the dark. :scared1: It makes you scared, mad & embarrassed all at the same time. And goodness knows, it happens to all parents (whether at Disney or not) but for some reason it makes you feel embarrassed like your kid is the only one who's ever done that.

Glad y'all were able to overpower the boys & get them in the stroller! :lmao: Sounds like y'all were trying out some tasty bites. Especially the pork slider & the shrimp! :thumbsup2

I totally understand how you felt. Even though you know that all parents have been through it, wouldn't it be nice if one or two gave you an understanding smile or nod?

Love that the lobster was a hit! I'm wondering if I'll regret letting DD try those types of things later. She already eats half of my filet when we have steak. :lmao: Sounds like your kids will have expensive taste too.

Hope that your afternoon improved!

:hug:you're right, it has happened to all of us and it doesn't make you feel any better at the moment! I have found, with experience, the only people who give you those "stares" are people who have never had children. No one who has children can ever say their child has never done that...cause they'd be lying:rolleyes1

I think you handled the situation perfectly:thumbsup2 Now, let's discuss the lobster.....where did you get it, what was it exactly cause you know I have to try some on our next trip:woohoo:

Now I'm no parent, but I think you handled the situation well. I can't blame you for being embarrassed though, I'm sure I would have been too, in a similar situation.

The food looks good though!

Mmmm.. That shrimp is making me hungry. :)

Don't be embarrassed, but I know it's tough not to feel that way in these moments. All kids do it at some point or another and running away like that is the worst! I'm glad he was able to nap once you had the little guy buckled in, but I can just imagine Carter's grumpy face. Hope he decides to nap soon, but you're making me wonder.. "The Beginning of the Bad Afternoon" isn't sounding good!

Boys will be boys...even at Disney! You're right about how it feels when a child runs away and doesn't stop when called...scared and infuriated! But it sounds like you handled it, and hopefully "Carter Cruelty" :rotfl: will make him think twice the next time!

The slider and the shrimp looked really yummy...we'll be at WDW for food and wine thins year, so I'm taking notes on your choices and reviews...thanks!

The afternoon was going great and then all of a sudden, it was just like they'd both went crazy! I guess all the excitement was just too much for them. I wish it hadn't have happened, but I guess it goes with being a parent. They can't run from me. Carter really didn't think it was fair, but he should have just gone right to sleep and then he wouldn't have minded.

That's horrible! I absolutely hate it when they run from me like that. Into the dark would have been really scary. I know it happens to everyone, but it's always so unpleasant. And at the time, it seems like everyone there is looking at us. Oh well.

You wouldn't think it would take two of us to get Landon in the stroller, but he is incredible strong for someone his size. :rotfl: The pork slider and the shrimp were both delicious.

I'm sure all the other parents there were just really really glad it wasn't them that time! I'm not sure if there were many other parents there at the time, actually. It would have been nice, though.

They probably will have expensive taste, at least Landon will. I don't want to raise kids who are picky eaters, though, so I'll manage to put up with it. When they get older, I bet the dining plan will be a good option for us.

:rotfl: You know, before I had kids, I was sure I would never let my kids act the way I saw other kids acting in public. It's all very different after you have kids. It's really a lot harder than it looks!

Thanks! Lobster...we got it at Hops & Barley, the American F&W booth. We got both the lobster roll and the lobster claw, because, it was lobster and it seemed like the right thing to do. Both were really good and I'm sure we'll get both again next year. Is your next trip during the F&W festival?

Now I'm no parent, but I think you handled the situation well. I can't blame you for being embarrassed though, I'm sure I would have been too, in a similar situation.

The food looks good though!

Thanks! It wasn't the best situation in the world, but I guess at least none of those people knew us. On our last trip, there were no more running incidents, so hopefully that's over now.

The food was really good!

That shrimp was great! I wish I had some more of it right now!

I'll admit, I felt a little embarrassed just describing the whole thing in the last update! Even though all kids do it sometimes, it's still never any fun. I was really happy to see Landon go to sleep. I think he really needed that nap. For that matter, Carter really needed a nap, too. No, the Beginning of the Bad Afternoon is never a good start.

Doesn't it seem like they shouldn't do stuff like that at Disney? :rotfl: I absolutely hate the running thing, but hopefully it won't happen again. I've learned now that it helps in situations like that to tell them exactly how far they can go and what will happen if they go past that.

That's exciting, being at WDW for food and wine this year. We're going too, but it's hard to decide between October and November.

All the food looks very tempting. :thumbsup2

It's a shame that Carter spilled the milk on himself. We're kind of going through that phase right now where DS wants to feed himself and handle his own drinks. He's actually pretty good with it, but once in a while... It happens, I'm glad you had extra clothes for him with you.

I fully endorse strapping Landon and Carter in the stroller when they refused to behave. :thumbsup2

Oh! Kids running away is the WORST! I can't stand it. It may be my #1 pet peeve as a parent!! I'm sorry you had a rough go at it! I'm sure the day will get better!

Ugh, I can't imagine how awful it must be to have a kid run off at Disney World, that would drive me crazy! I don't think you have any reason to be embarrassed, you handled the situation the right way! :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure we tried the pork slider at the Hawaii booth, it was pretty good! That shrimp from Australia looks great, I don't know how we missed that!

I loved the food that day at Epcot! The F&W Festival is awesome.

It's hard when they want to feed themselves and aren't quite competent yet. Carter actually would be content to have us feed him every single bite and never feed himself, but we try to encourage independence. It's always hard when he spills since he takes it so seriously. I've found that one way of guaranteeing we'll need extra clothes at Disney is to not bring any, so I'm usually prepared with them now.

Walking is a privilege, after all. I still can't believe Landon ran from me like that.

I hate it when they run, too. It's the worst. Especially at Disney World! We go to Disney World to have fun and that's no fun at all. The afternoon was off to a bad start. We were trying to turn it around.

Luckily, Carter and Landon aren't huge runners, but the few times that they do run are always really bad, especially at Disney World. I don't know why it seems so embarrassing...maybe because in that little moment of time, we appear to be parents who literally let their kids run wild.

I liked that pork slider! I'd like to get it again next year. And the shrimp was pretty good, too. I've heard the lamb chop from Australia is really good, too.
