I learn something new just about every time you update your TR... like the part about the gift shop by Everest being closed. I didn't realize it was in Disney's business plan to ever have a gift shop closed.
Great pictures from the race, I especially like the back side of Everest. Thanks for sharing!
Congratulations on finishing the race, although I'm sure it will be an unforgettable finish, despite the rather normal feeling to it.
By the way... my Boilers have been awful this season, but I'm proud to say they beat "The" Ohio State today.

I was shocked to see the gift shop closed! They probably could done pretty well selling race souvenirs from the gift shops along the route. Although maybe most people wouldn't have brought any money.
Thanks! I thought the back side of Everest was really interesting. I would have thought it would look mountain-like all the way around.
Perhaps it will be an unforgettable finish...I guess we haven't forgotten it yet, so that's something.
Go Boilers!
Yay for consolation crackers

, the backside of Everest

, and finishing the race!
Although I have to admit that I'm not really a behind the magic kinda girl. I like to keep my blinders on at all times when I'm at Disney!
I was glad I happened to have the snack the boys wanted that morning! It was really cool for us to finish the race, though.
I think that was the only bit of behind the magic stuff featured on this trip report. From here on out, it'll be pure Disney magic.
Love the pictures! I think it's so cool that the race route goes backstage. I'm fascinated with that stuff. I'd love to do one of the tours some day.
I think you guys deserved more than a medal finishing a 5K with 2 toddlers!

(like maybe a spa package, or complimentary in room babysitting

)
Thanks! I thought it was pretty fun to see all the backstage stuff during the race. I've never done one of the tours, but they do sound really interesting.
Wouldn't that have been great? Really, we'd need the spa package and in room babysitting.
I just LOVE this trippie!!..I have read all your reports....and have been waiting for this one.
What a sweet little family...you have so manys years ahead of you to enjoy disney trips together.
When is the next one?...
Thanks! I'm glad you like my trip reports! I think this one is going to be pretty fun, if trip itself is any indication.

I am looking forward to lots of Disney trips over the years, while the boys are little, and while they're not so little and when they're grown and someday, with our future grandkids. So many memories waiting to happen.
As for our next trip, I have tons of ideas and no definite plans. I'm still trying to figure out where a December trip could fit in, because I love the Christmas Disney stuff. And then there's the Princess Half Marathon weekend in February and we could do another 5K. And then there'll be the Flower and Garden Festival and maybe we'll be able to leave the boys with their grandparents.
Great update, the race looked like so much fun!

Did you guys run at all, or just walk the whole thing? I'm looking at all the 5K's for next year, and they all say you have to have a 16 minute per mile pace...were they strict about that? I mean, a mile in 16 minutes seems pretty do-able, but what if you want to stop and meet the characters and everything?
I can't believe Cruella did the whole race in her red heels!

Ugh, I hate heels...I mean, I love how they look but I hate wearing them!
It's weird seeing all the attractions closed. They should leave a few open, but I guess if they did that, the race would take all day!
Poor Carter, with the sun in his eyes! I have the same reaction when the sun is in my eyes, it's not pleasant!
I wonder what the unforgettable finish was?
The race was great fun. We only ran right at the finish line. For the most part, there was just so many people around us that running with the strollers wouldn't have been safe. After all, I ran over someone while walking, there's no telling what I would have done running.

I don't think that they are very strict about the sixteen minutes per mile. They probably would be with the more serious races, but the 5K is mostly just for fun, I think. It basically took us an hour to get to mile 3, so that's about a twenty minute mile and there were still plenty of people behind us.
I thought Cruella was very brave. I hate heels, too. Sure, they look good, but they're so uncomfortable. Life's too short to wear uncomfortable shoes.
If the attractions stayed open during the race, it would last all day, but it'd be such a fun day. No one would want to finish.
I did feel bad for Carter, with the sun in his eyes, too. That sun was really bright!
I'd like to know if there really was anything special at the finish line earlier. It was fun and all, but calling it an unforgettable finish might have been stretching it.
