An open letter to 10/18 Magic passengers

dcannon, this is so sad. I hope you get your bag back.

I can empathize with cindyluwho, too. I always tie thin red ribbons all over our bags. When we got off the cruise, seemed like everyone had "stolen" my idea. Could not fathom the number of folks who had tied thin red ribbons to their bags. Had to check the luggage tags.

A note to new cruisers: Even though they sort the bags according to Mickey and Donald, etc, each of these areas is pretty vast. Think about how many bodies were on the cruise then multiply by several bags. 99.9999% seemed to be black. I noted one set of bags tied with bright turquoise bandanas, they were east to spot. This next trip I am going to find something REALLY obnoxious to tie on our luggage. Loved the old quote in the Sehlinger guide book where a family tied a clear plastic bag with a disposable diaper doused with cola to their stroller. NOBODY took their stuff.

Thoughts of lost luggage kind of make me glad of our

"if you can't carry it, you don't need it" rule.

We were on the 10/12 4-day and one piece of our luggage was not with the other bags. We looked around and finally found it in another area close by. Our luggage was in the Goofy area.

I gather that you do have the option of carrying your own luggage off the ship?

dcannon, I don't recall seeing any claims from you to Disney. You did file a claim with them, correct? Just wondering but I would say it is Disneys responsibility to make sure you have your belongings when you leave the ship. What was Disneys response?

I know there is a limit for the dollar amount from the airlines and I would tend to think the same applies to cruise ships? ???

We're cruising soon and now I'm worried that Disney can't control the baggage area! (Maybe I should be a Lawyer)

abitjaded - you can use my ex MIL...

Keoni - or better yet, a baggage handler...

dcannon101 - I am so sorry to hear about the lost luggage. I hope it turns up soon. We have been through this with the airlines a few times so I know how you feel.

abitjaded - It does seem like everyone out there has a black suitcase and they have all caught on to the idea of tying a ribbon on them. This is why when we purchased luggage before our last cruise we decided to be a little different. We purchased duffle bags from High Sierra and instead of doing the standard black or navyblue/black we went with the burnt orange/grey color. We may get a few strange looks, but as soon as the bags hit the turnstile I know which ones are ours.::yes:: I just hope this idea does not catch on anytime soon.

DVC4US - That is exactly what we did two years ago - Bought the LL Bean Duffle bags, one in "DIS" green, one in bright yellow. Now, we are going to get two of the floral prints for the DDs to use for the cruise - that way, everyone will be able to site their bags immediately.

Dcannon - have you inquired as to whether DCL could email their passengers? Did you get a chance to check yesterday as the ship docked? It may have had another fabulous week on the Magic!!!
