During my recent stay at BWV's, In realized how high the sinks were. I think that all of the rooms should have footstools in them so the kids can reach the sinks to brush their teeth. They have plenty of space to store it underneath the sink in the cabinets. I'm sure more than half of us have young children and would utilize it.

Maybe it's already available and I don't know it, maybe lots of us don't know it.

If it's not available, maybe we should all start requesting it through our guides and through MS. It would be really nice not to have to hold up your kids to spit out their toothapste or even turn on the water to was thier hands after using the bathroom.

Why not just bring one of your own and store it in an Owner's Locker? Unless you drive and then just stuff it in the car. Or pick up a cheap one at Walmart.

I think Deb's solution is probably the best. If DVC supplied one, it may be a potential liability, like falling off of a ladder.

We use the laundry basket upside down or we drag a chair into the bathroom and keep it in the closet (in a 1 bedroom).

I wouldn't want to have to pack one of my own. I don't drive 99% of the time and don't ren an owner's locker. That's a lot to pay for a footstool. I don't think it would be a liability since you could fall of a chair just as easy too, especially if you are standing on it in the bathroom. They could even have it built in to the vanity and ahve it fold out so it couldn't be moved around and played with. Both of my son's had a hard time spitting where the water would wash it away and my older DS is 7 and tall for his age.

You would think since their service is veered towards families wiht kids who will be coming for the next 50 yrs, they would make the rooms a little more kid friendly.

Anyone else who would like to see footstools in a bathroom for the kids to use or does everyone feel like it would be a waste??

not bad but I would rather have one there.

I know we certainly could use one, but I don't expect them to provide one in every room. We kept a chair in front of the sink on our last trip. I would never use the laundry basket--I know from experience that they can and do collapse.

I don't see any reason the resorts couldn't have a few on hand to be requested, though. Or do they? Has anyone ever asked ?:confused3

But its really unlikely to happen. In addition to the potential liability issues, they'd get "removed" from rooms. Might be more likely that they'd keep them on hand at housekeeping (like bedrails or blenders). You could write DVC and ask if they'd keep them on hand through housekeeping (maybe they do and we just don't know it).

I'm a little shocked you don't need to request the pack and play - they take up room in the closets for the relatively small number of guests who need to use them - and are easy to remove from the unit.

I'd vote to take the pack and play OUT of the villas before I'd vote to add footstools. Less clutter that most of us don't use anyway.

at okw the step to the soaking tub worked out perfectly as a step-stool for our 2 littlest travellers.

I agree- I never really thought about it before, but besides being a waste of space, it is a considerable expense- keeping an inventory of 1 pack 'n play per room when they could get away with keeping a fraction of that. And you know how baby gear is- they say not to use baby gear that is more than X? years old... so every so many years they replace them all.

Anyway- one more note about the step stool- we have one in each bathroom at home and they get pretty dirty/grimy. People's feet all over them... I don't think I would use it even if it was there. And housekeeping would probably have a hard time keeping them clean. (I know- the floor- the beds- everything in a hotel is exposed to other people's germs- but something exclusively for feet to stand on in the bathroom seems a little yuckier)
Now- if I took 2+ trips to WDW per year and years left with tiny ones I would probably say- YES- give us a step stool but we only go once evry 18-24 months- so my kids are only at that "I can brush my own teeth- but too short to reach" stage for like 2 trips max! My baby will probably be too short for just 1 more trip so of course my thoughts are skewed to my own situation.

I vote yes for a step! They are no more a liability than chairs (which people can fall off of) and no more likely to 'walk off' than anything else in the unit. Kids would use them the most, but shorter adults would probably use them too. I know my mom would! Plus wouldn't it be nice if kids weren't getting toothpaste spit all over the upholstered chairs?? I know we're not the only ones pulling a chair into the bathroom...

That's interesting, because I have always thought that the light switches in VWL are placed lower than normal to make them easier for kids to reach. In the dark, I aim too high at first and have to grope along the wall. But then the sinks are super high. Hmmm. The villas must have been designed by a committee.

We bring our own. I bought two small ones that can easily stack together. I have a 3 year old that needs one for the sink and another one at the potty.

It fits perfectly in the suitcase - stacked and upside down. I scrub
it clean there before I repack it.

As for other things, the only thing that I would really like is more drawers for clothing. We stay at a 1 bedroom with a washer/dryer and so I don't bring as much clothes on our vacation and we still find drawers lacking. But that's not a big deal, I would just like it for more convenience.

Well, since Disney most likely will not be providing stools, this is probably your next best option. It folds flat and only weighs 3 lbs. Very easy to pack, and lots cheaper than an owner's locker.

hmm, cannot remember how my DSs managed; but they never had a step stool to use (probably gave eachother a boost lol)...however, why not:thumbsup2

my short list - if they'd only put a washer/dryer unit in a studios i'd be delighted to give up the few cubic feet it would require (take out the stove for all i care;) ; while I don't cook on vacation - I do get dirty).

Uh, no stove in the studio. Are you willing to give up the closet or the sink/microwave/toaster/etc to add the stackable washer and dryer.

Or they could put it there the sleeper sofa is and put cushions on it for either sleeping or sitting.
