An "Invented" position at work?

Five, count them, five people were given "invented" positions as "job coaches" where I used to work. They knew the right booties to smooch, cause they didn't have to work like the rest of us anymore, unless you count hanging around in the mail room drinking Mt. Dew working.

They "job coached" me into finally leaving that place.....and taking three other long term employees with me. We all start our new jobs together on Monday!

Have you ever worked at a company , where a favorite employee was given an "Invented" position. Or a new position was created for a person?

Please tell me you don't work in a brothel.

That's exactly what happened to DH's former boss. The jerk was demoted and given a "special project" to work on all by himself. He is an unethical *******, he should have been fired.

Thats what happened to my last boss and we thought she should have been fired too. She was demoted and told that she would never be in management again. She was so nasty and verbally abusive to us and had driven 15 employees out of the department within 6 months, stripping it down to less than the bare minimum. I admit she was a hard worker, just not appropriate to manage people. So they invented a position that not only would involve her being isolated from her former staff, it involved 90% travel and she is never there. I don't work in that office anymore, but have run into her a few times when she visits our location, and she actually apologized for the way she behaved. I think she was really overworked, and just didn't handle her title well. It took alot for her to admit her fault and apologize to each one of us personally for the way she treated us. Its a shame it had to get to that point.

When our school counselor retired, he was replaced with our BOE's president's son. Nice guy and all but has no true degree in counseling so they renamed the position Student Support staff personal.

I work at a university, and this is done quite often. Usually, the person gets to take his/her hefty salary to this "invented" position as well.

Happens all the time to drinking buddies of the boss where I work.
