An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

Oh I want the Mary Poppins Cookbook!

Tea rests are adorable though

I actually had my eye on that too, but it's out of my price range. I may ask for it for my birthday though. We'll see...

I really love the UK pavillion, too. I went to university in London for a year and used to have an English boyfriend for some time and we have been on vacation there a lot with my family - all this combined makes for a lot of fond memories. And somehow the pavillion seems to bring all those to life again! :goodvibes

I remember really beautiful tea mugs at the tea shop. I don't remember the price, but they were a modern take on the classical English porcellain tea mug.

I am getting excited about your ADR day, too. I think I need to go back to read some of the updates on your PTR part 1, I think you wrote about meal plans there?

Yes, all of our "hoped for" meal picks are on PT. 1. I think I should post tonight or tomorrow a recap of what we're hoping to get. It would be good to get everyone on the same page before we dive in.

I loved London and Canturbury!! So lovely! But I think Stratford-Upon-Avon was another favorite. However, some is a blur- there was a fair amount of pub hopping happening. I have a funny story to share about our time in London, but I'll have to post it tonight. It involves a visit to a foreign embassy!!! ;)

I wish I could be more of a help with shopping around the world. I only stopped in a few shops when i was there, I think Japan, and didn't even see all of that, England, and didn't even see all of that, although I did come home with some boxes of tea. :banana: I'm not a huge tea drinker, but I love to have some when I want it.
Let's see I also hit Italy, which reminds me....if your looking for wine stoppers, I happen to find some alabaster wine stoppers in Italy. Kinda plain, but in lots of different colors, I think I got one in white (gave this one away), bright green and a bright magenta color, very cheap too. Some of my favorite souvies are the cheap finds that I will use a lot, like say in my kitchen. I don't like to spend a lot of money on gifts for myself when I'm there, it just seems silly unless it's very useful and can remind me of my trip. I'm also not a big fan of souvies that scream Disney, just reminders of my time there. :goodvibes
You can bet I will be looking through France this time, especially for wine stoppers that look as pretty as the one's you showed on here. How in the world do you know so much about the souvies all around the world? :laughing:

Love you girl, hope your having an incredibly blessed day!! I'm off to bed finally, I think I can finally sleep! I sure wish I could get this turned around. I know I will before my trip. 78 more days!!!

I loved Leslie's (Lady Lallie) idea of having the Mary Poppins Cookbook autographed. I want to find something like that for our trip.

I just remembered they also have little light switch plates with Monet and Manet or Degas on them. Impressionist stuff! That'd be pretty in our new house too! :thumbsup2

Oh that would be pretty! And you'd definitely use it everyday!

I've never seen a teabag rest, I'll have to check those out. I recently switched from coffee to tea in the mornings, so maybe I need to educate myself on the appropriate paraphernalia!

I had a good day, mostly. Had a great "talking to Dad" time with my teammate, had cheeseburgers and fries for dinner, and now get some DISTime while DH watches a movie.

78 days is only 2 1/2 months!! That's great that it's so close! Lots of time to research all fun stuff to see and do! I read lots of TRs and there's a ton of stuff on allears.net too! The blogs are great!!!

That's a fun idea for sure!! A "someday" thing to keep in mind.

My daughter loves to pile used tea bags on a plate, and they are a mess! Maybe if they were on a little rest, she would use it before starting another. :lmao:

It has to be August 31 OR Sept. 1st. Those are the only nights I have available.

Please, I need a local to help wth ideas. Don't you live right there??

If we're doing mid-week, would lunch make more sense?
That way the kids are in school and no babysitters are required.
I work in the McLean area so I could take a long lunch and MomCapell can meet us!
And there's lots of good lunch places in that area!

Hmm... there might be enough of the out-of-towners to make it worth having a couple of events. I know Jen is coming all the way from Ontario ( a 9.5 hour drive) so, maybe a lunch for one event, and a dinner and drinks for another. I'll PM you, ok??

Didn't realize it was such a big event!
Definitely PM me and we can talk further...

One of our favorite souvieners are chop sticks from Japan. My kids love to use them and it usually sparks memories from our trip.

I"m not sure what kind of turn out there'll be, but whoever does end up coming will be there- not square! :banana:

I think I'll get the chopsticks from China, and blow my big wad on the pearl in Japan. Though, if that ends up costing too much, I may opt for something oragami or ???

Morning Liessa !! Fly by post have to go to work will catch up tonite !!!

Have a great day at work, Rosie!! "See you" tonight.

I'm here! :yay: Running back to see how many pages I missed this time! :rotfl:

Just looked - 15 pages! Let's see if I can catch up when I have lunch!

You will be especially intrigued at our latest stuff- it may involve you!!

:thumbsup2

Woo-hoo! I am caught up!

Tim - have a great trip! I really wanted to read your PTR but knew I couldn't get caught up. Hope to read your TR though!

I should be in for a meet in the DC/VA area. I don't know the area very well though so hopefully someone else can help with suggestions. I am pretty flexible on the dates.

We really enjoyed pick a pearl! You can always get it set later or buy one of those cages on ebay later to save money at the time. I agree - :headache: darn budgets!

I think the souvie ideas are good. :thumbsup2 I love Monet so if you can't find a wine stopper than I think a light switch plate or a small print would be lovely. I can't help much with the Morocco pavilion - the only thing I can remember from there right now are the puppets on strings. I actually spent a few days in Morocco in high school. Based on that experience, maybe something woven or ceramic? I like the tea bag rest for the UK. DH bought some loose tea there on one of our trips and there was someone there that was a member of a big tea family and of course I can't think of who it was. But I digress. . .how shocking! ;)

As for the AK EMH/MNSSHP debate, I don't see official dates or hours for MNSSHP or Sept. anywhere yet? If your info is correct, can you attend MNSSHP another night? We attended an AK PM EMH on our last trip and it was great! It would definitely help with your EE goal Mary - the two of us walked on and rode with only a few minute wait. I do think you could go to MNSSHP after AK PM EMH. There is not a lot open late at AK so you could realistically see the park at night, do a few things and still make it for most of the party. To me, the best things at the party are the parade, the fireworks and the unusual characters you can meet. The parade and fireworks are later and you guys probably don't care about the characters. The villains show was good too but that runs several times a night. I don't know if I have helped or confused the situation. :confused3

Now, I am suffering from CRS and don't remember if I commented on everything that I wanted to comment on but I have got to get back to work so I will have to do a second post if I think of anything.

Have a great day everyone! Everyone that is leaving soon or already at WDW - have a great time and I can't wait to read all about it!

At last, at last!! Can you believe it?? We've journeyed all the way around the world together- and we're still friends. Hope my B.O. didn't bother any of you too much; I think as we passed through Crapastan, I dropped my deodorant habit. And if any of you are still stuck on the Moroccan toilets because you aren't as limber and lithe as you once were, well, we all hope you can find someone to help you up- we'll be in Canada.

So, what will we shop for here?? It's our last souvenir we will buy, so let's make it good! Unfortunately, I have no idea whatsoever to look for here. I can tell you, I don't want maple leaves or syrup. I can get that at my local Safeway. Jen, help me out here!! Call Bubba! This is an emergency! Wait she may already be gone.

What is Canada famous for besides maple leaves and hockey gold medals? Seriously- what can I find for under $5 without Mickey on it?

Now, let's review since this will wrap up my series on Souvies from WDW:

++New accessories for Tate at Once Upon a Toy Story

++Pressed Pennies- Snow White and her Little Guys and my missing WS coins

++Mexico- Chili Pepper Stir Sticks or??

++Norway- A Straw Ornament

++China- Chopstick or a Bamboo Rice pickers hat

++Germany- A carved wooden ornament or lace to use as a bookmark

++Italy- A Venetian Mask Pin

++US- ???? Big, fat I don't know!

++Japan- Pick a Pearl with maybe a ring setting

++Morocco- Some little brass finger cymbols or ??

++France- A Wine Stopper

++UK- one or two tea bag rests or a switch plate cover

++Canada- ??? A big, fat I don't know!!

There you have it! a long list of goodies to hunt for while taking in the sights and sounds of the World. As always, I'm looking for good recon, Soldiers!! The PERKS are out there for the taking!

NOW, FASTEN YOUR SEATBELTS!! Our ADR dates are coming to a War near you!! Get ready for some fast(er) paced action as we spill out the full war room planning as it unfolds this month!

ARE YOU READY??!!

I've heard Canada has some fabulous soaps...

which might sound a bit odd but I'm a sucker for yummy smelling handmade types of soaps. Can't remember where I heard that but some Gulf Island Lavender Soap (don't actually know if GI grows lavender but since Orcas does I'm making a leap there) could be an olfactory delight!

And since you gave up deodorant...a good way to come back to the sweet side.

HA!! seriously, if I can confess just a little... I don't wear it a lot of the time. I've heard it can lead to cancer with the aluminum in it, but I shower a couple times a day.

Basin is at the very top of my must-do list at DTD!! I plan to tank up on some things which I'll talk about later in my PTR. ;)

See, I kept up, even though you zipped through the last couple of countries. And I was limber and lithe enough to make out of the Moroccan bathroom.

I don't know about a souvenir from Canada, but those pants the mounties were are pretty cool.
