An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

:thumbsup2 for 24 hours in Germany!!

nodnol and I were talking today that it was a shame that you did not connect through Munich airport since Neuschwanstein would be really close to Munich. That wouldn't be an option for your flights I suppose? Munich is Lufthansa's second hub in Germany and they do have quite a lot of flights to the East... :confused3

We are both looking forward to help you with any planning if you need any help! :goodvibes

IThat's OK, I did the same thing. My dh was military too. I didn't really start paying attention to what was happening in the world until about 11 years ago. I guess better late than never, right?!?

Glad I wasn't the only one! The thing is, now that I think about it more, I already knew that. But, I think it was because he was being so funny about everything and I totally read it wrong in my head (just 'cause). Oh well. :rotfl:

Hey Everyone~~

Such great posts over the weekend! I won't be able to be on much this morning, but will come back in the afternoon. Unfortunately, by then most of you will be fast asleep. TODAY IS TAX DAY!! DH worked many hours of overtime last week since our guest from Holland was here, and has decided to stay home this morning. That means I get to help do taxes. :headache: But, normally, we get a pretty big refund because we live overseas. One nice perk.

NO, it doesn't translate into more Disney $$. ;)

However, I made one decision over the weekend. In order to fully finance my trip, I really MUST sell this quilt. And I think I have a buyer- so I need to devote a fair amount of time handquilting it over the next months. Maybe Bekka will type my responses while I do that. Or I could take one of Yzma's potions and turn myself into an octopus. :lmao:

Anyway, I will catch up on everyone's threads later this afternoon!

I miss you!!!

Aww, we miss you too, Liesa! Good idea to get the quilt taken care of though, it will be one less thing for you to worry about, esp with hand quilting it. Yuck for taxes, but hooray for getting a good refund!

I know you don't want to sell that awesome quilt but you did make this one... you can make another.

Man the gubmint wants their money no matter where you are...even if that place is Crapistan!

I'm trying to tie up all my loose PTR/TR ends before we leave in 3 days!!!!!!!!!! :yay:

Leisa, we'll most certainly miss you.
I love you sister friend, so take care of the ol' taxes and don't worry about us. We'll all be here.

Tim, that movie is a laugh riot! Thank you for the video. :goodvibes

popcorn::Okay I am FINALLY current on ALL the post I missed for the last fews months while my life was crazy.

It's ok, I'm so glad you're back!

IT was WONDERFUL meeting Mary(Maroo) in real life with Tinytreasures at the world GOTTA LOVE ME SOME SEASONS at Epcot not to MENTION my HUBBY is STILL :worship: in her debt for the wonderful service she did us.

Isn't she the greatest!?

Liesa,
I am so sorry to hear of the unexpected passing of your MIL :(
However I am very excited for your family to be coming back into the states.

Thanks so much for your condolensces! It was sudden, but in the end probably the best way the Lord could have taken her.

I can't say that we are "excited" yet, I'm sure that will grow. For now we need to focus on our remaining months and the dreaded chore of packing!

Although I was in dismay to realize that although you extended us the invite to join the trip we had the wrong dates down so don't know if we will be able to meet up after all as we had down the 13-24 as you were going to be at the World. However hubby saids we will try to make it down a couple of days earlier since neither he nor our 9 year old son REALLY want to do the High Tea with me and if I am not able to join your party for that they will have too. :rolleyes1Plus since we haven't made our flight or WDW revs we can do that.
Expectally SINCE I have that quilt material for you :rolleyes1 that I never got mailed to you due to lives craziness real sorry about that :(

I will go ahead and reveal that our TEA date is set for Sunday, Sept. 12th. It will just be LeeAnn and I, and you are more than welcome to join us!! :yay:

Quilting fabric is my lust!! I love it!:cloud9:

Tell your SON AWESOME job on the SATs and getting in ROTC as a full ride that is so great to hear.

I will tell him that there are a lot of people proud of him!!I sure hope it works out that he can pass the physical!

Bekka can come and live with us for a while if she wants to visit the Midwest I mean Kansas is dap smack in the middle of everywhere LOL.

Right now, her plan is to move back ahead of us in June and start some Community College classes. She's got her sights on starting a nursing program after her last year! :teacher::thumbsup2
:rotfl:

Currently our son is in an arm immozer for leaning back again the rail of his playgroup equipement and missing and falling through the firemen pole hole. :rolleyes1 since he broke his arm right below his shoulder. His school didn't call us cause they didn't think he was really hurt since he baring cried which for those who don't know my son has Aspergers and although his emotical pain response are off the wall his physical ones aren't and with a natural high pain torance to begin with yea we are NOT happy with his school.

My son has the SAME thing!! He's never been labelled or officially diagnosed with Ausperger's, but I'm pretty sure that's what we're dealing with. SO, I TOTALLY GET IT, about the high pain threshhold AND the responses. When Zach got his thumb cut off, he barely cried at all! So strange! So sorry that he broke his little arm! Poor thing!! :sad1: I'd be mad too that they didn't believe him.

My job has been flapping back and forth about if I will have one and what shift and what I will be doing since we came back from WDW. :scared1:

Hoping that job situation gets ironed out. Being out of work is no fun!

We are also currently house hunting so that too plays into if we will be able to get to the world. But we have already started our Disney fund (separate from the house and saving fund of course) and in fact I happen to catch a winning bet on ebay and got 200 pins for $149 which since I paid $250 last year for 210 am very happy about.

That'd be really great if that works out- let us know! Extra cash for Disney is always a great thing.

Also strange enough before I started reading your PTR again we were/are talking about staying at PORFQ verse POP due to the fact that POP was so wired all the time it keep our son hoping non stop which really didn't work good.

That'd be fun to have you right next door! Getting over to tea would be a breeze sharing the bus. ;)

Anyway just wanted to fill you in and to let you know that am both following and expecting to meet up with you guys in the world and way too bad I missed the AR game though I did play along as I read it got 4 out of them so don't think that is bad and can't wait for the next game to be played. Also let me know what TOP still needs in the way of travelling clothes cause my son keep taking the computer away between 40-50 post to read over them and kept losing my spot so I have no idea if you have gotten all 7 of his/her outfits or it there are any left to be made. :woohoo:

Anything for World Showcase except a kilt would be wonderful!! Let your creativity run wild! S/he is looking forward to a him-her fashion show! :rolleyes1

I'm going to admit I've been skimming here in an effort to catch up. I notice that you are globe trotting and visiting almost everyone! :thumbsup2 Well, might I put in my bid for a stop in Southern Oregon on your way to Northern Oregon? :goodvibes I know it's not on the way - it isn't on the way to anyplace - just thought it was a fun idea! ;)

Hi Tammy!! Skimming is ABSOLUTELY ALLOWED!!! I confess, I'm going to skim Jordan's report next and mostly skip the 10 pages I am behind- knowing I'm going to miss some hilarious stuff. Ah well... sometimes it has to happen.

yeah, So. OR., not on the way, but I will start planning an Oregon Meet once I get back, and unpack my boxes. I know Cherie and Cynthia and OregonMommy and OregonDaddy will probably be there! Cheesecake Factory seems to be the consesus. You know we'd love you there too!! :dance3:

PHEWW!!! I have my work cut out for me after my 2 days off the DIS!! You all were quite chatty--- I LOVE IT!!!

Well either way, I've already requested the days off  I've asked for Aug 30-Sep 1st off. I'll have to take 3 days off since it's a solid 9.5 hour drive from my house! This is exciting! It would be awesome to meet everyone :goodvibes

YOU HAVE!!?? WOO HOOTY!!

I'm going back over the list of posters I've gotten to know, and sending engraved invitations out in the form of PMs. TheCapells, Piper'sMom, jen1023, DisneyAddicted, and a whole bunch of others all live near-ish to D.C and would be square if not there!! :rotfl2:

I wish I could just invite you all to my sis's to crash, but that would be rude. :lmao: It would be great though, if some room sharing could happen! Glad we're starting the planning now, so stuff like this can be figured out!:thumbsup2

All I know is I love walking into the shop in Morocco! So colorful. I'm sure I could find so many things to purchase from there. Not much help am I? :rotfl:

We had lots of camels in Alice Springs, Australia. They aren't native to Australia of course, but now there are so many that roam wild in the Outback. Chuck and I did a "Take a Camel to Dinner" thing that was really cool. Did a camel ride and then had a chef made us a private dinner. It wasn't supposed to be private, but no one else was there that night. ;)

camel.jpg

I know! There is a ton of fun stuff in there; all of it super fun and exotic!

With camels spitting (yes! they really DO spit!) and kangaroos kicking, it's quite the wild place! :lmao:

Your excursion sounds super fun! I'd love something like that! And what a bonus to get a private deal.

not a clue about the shop but I did love my lunch there!

You can't really take schwarma home though....

That's great to hear!! I was wondering if the food is good- you know it's on my list.

can't take hummus or tabouli home either.

Nope, but I can make them for lunch tomorrow! I have some dried garbanzos that need to be cooked. :yay:

Mnnn hummus, I'd love some of that right now, I'm hungry!

Me too! Time for afternoon tea.popcorn::

with some pita flatbread.:thumbsup2

It's official- tomorrow's Middle Eastern night. :cloud9:

Would have been a better choice than what I had

pepperoni
pirate booty
girl scout cookies

and I'm still hungry

so much for my great work at the gym this week!

:rotfl:

I heard a Girl Scout cookie factory was shut down or something. It was either bad cookies or the doorbell wore out. :lmao:

IKWYM!! Everytime I have a glass of wine before bed, I feel like I scored negative workout points. :headache:

I know just what you mean, I'm so greatful. I too have thought about the time I was born, I think about living through some of the things my grandparents or great grandparents went through and thought there would be no way in the world I would have been able to live through those things without falling apart. I guess that's why God placed me in the place and time He did. :worship:

He always equips us with whatever we need to do what He asks to, in the place and time we're in. ;)

Leisa, I know I asked some hard questions, I can't imagine living in the things you've lived in and not being changed for ever by what you've endured. I would think it would be pretty tough no matter who's coming through it, hopefully the babies will come through this with an easier transition than than they think, it's always hard to make changes your not use to. I remember coming to S.A., here in Texas and thinking there would be no way I would ever like living there, and after a while I loved it, thought the same moving here in the Austin area and then fell head over heels for this area, even over S.A.

I know it's not the same thing, and I realize your going back to a place you love over a place you would probably rather do with out, but change is change. I've never made that big of a drastic change in my life, I admire your strength, and I admire your dedication to the work of The Kingdom.
I can't say I would be able to do the same, it's hard to admit that, but at the same time I guess God made us all to be and do different things for His Kingdom, and maybe me traveling to remote places isn't one of them.

Thanks!! I can only give credit to where it's due; without my Source of Strength, it would never have happened- it is HIS work! :thumbsup2

And yes, we are all gifted differently- just as He chooses. No gift is above another except LOVE.

This is far better than the woman who nursed her child walking and yes I said walking through the Commissary while the child was tall enough and old enough to walk, yes I said walk.... under her shirt and nurse as she shopped. Needless to say, someone like the Commanders wife had to have a talk with her about this. :faint: COULD YOU IMAGINE!!??!!
COULD YOU IMAGINE HAVING TO BE THE ONE TO TALK WITH HER?!?!

:rotfl:

EWWW!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

Mmmmmm, my favorite foreign food to eat. Med. food is by far the most fun to eat besides eating with chop sticks, also another fav. of mine. :lovestruc

MMmm... mine too!!

Here's a cultural tidbit for all of you culture buffs out there.

The national dish is called Beshbarmak. It is a bed of large (4X4 in.) handmade noodles, topped with cut up boiled sheep meat, onions, and carrots and potatoes. A little bit of nice broth of spooned on top. If it's really traditional the boiled sheep head is served on top as well.

We LOVE this dish because we get to eat it with our hands!! So fun! Here's a link to a little article.

:thumbsup2 for 24 hours in Germany!!

Morning Liessa !!!! Ort what ever time it is in Blankistan!!!:lmao:

Unfortunately, there are no flights to Munich! I just PM'd you and would be VERY grateful for any help! DH is saying now that we may stay 2 nights!!! :yay::woohoo::banana:

Glad I wasn't the only one! The thing is, now that I think about it more, I already knew that. But, I think it was because he was being so funny about everything and I totally read it wrong in my head (just 'cause). Oh well. :rotfl:

Don't stress over! I still laugh at myself that I called Jordan married! :rotfl2: Remember that!?:lmao:

Aww, we miss you too, Liesa! Good idea to get the quilt taken care of though, it will be one less thing for you to worry about, esp with hand quilting it. Yuck for taxes, but hooray for getting a good refund!

He's almost done after ALL morning of working on them. Every year it gets easier- so that's good.

I think my buyer ( you know who you are :) ) will really love this quilt!! :thumbsup2

:yay:

I always have one in the works- well, actually, right now I have about 4 in various stages of "the works". But this one is special because it is the best work I've done AND I adore the colors!! And it's going to be the one that makes up my budgetary shortfall.

Sew like the wind, Liesa! Isn't that a line from the Three Amigos?

OK, OK, now I have to get that one out and find the line. It's all good prep for The Mexican Boat ride anyway.

LOL yes it is!!!!
One of my favorite movies of all time!!!

So is this::lmao::lmao:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADARBPqldsA

Thanks!!! Will look in a sec.

Leisa, we'll most certainly miss you.
I love you sister friend, so take care of the ol' taxes and don't worry about us. We'll all be here.

Tim, that movie is a laugh riot! Thank you for the video. :goodvibes

I miss 2 days on here, and I feel totally lost. :lmao: I can't get away with "skimming" my own PTR, and I would never want to anyway!! You're all so funny and fun, and sweet and great to hang around with! :grouphug:

Sup Liesa!!!!!

I finally got to get on my computer and "get connected again! :yay: Dinner?? Who knows!! At least it was a househelper day, and my house is clean again after a long weekend of not touching it.

Moving onward, from the land of camels and belly dancing, to the place of sidewalk cafes and eclairs, let's stop a moment in France!

Like in Japan, I know what I'm aiming for here. Most of you know I love me a good bottle of wine, and I like it even better with some good friends nearby! :thumbsup2 I know it's more than a year out that I won't be in our new house in Salem, but I'm already looking forward to soaking in my hot tub with a good Rose' or Chablis with my hubby, looking out over the river with the rain pouring down all around, all around.

What better way to capture my memories of strolling around the French Pavilion amongst Versailles-style fountains and gardens with French accordian cafe music softly playing in the background, than by bringing home one of these??

Or these:

Of course, if the price is out of reach, I'll have to find another something fun, and I'm sure you'll have lots of other ideas for me. Let's hear them!!!

Only 2 more countries to go- then things are going to really heat up here!!!!

Our ADR date is coming on the 6th, and watch out!!! You're going to get slammed with a whole bunch of updates right in a row! Are you ready??

Click Here for: A Soldier's Perks- Pt. 12, Steeped in Souvies!

With camels spitting (yes! they really DO spit!) and kangaroos kicking, it's quite the wild place! :lmao:

But, it's far more disgusting than regular spitting. It's like they're bringing up their food and it's all green! :scared1: Nasty, nasty stuff. Alice Springs holds the Camel Cup every year where people race camels around a track. I got to see a camel spit up close and personal. Not pretty.

They're disgusting up close!! In a caravan, or out on the Steppe, they're pretty cool to watch!!

As Piper would say "Camels..workhorse of the desert"...she read that in a book sometime, and now whenever she sees camels come up...she says that in her best pbs voice! :lmao: It cracks me up everytime!

The wine stopper cork thingy *technical term there* sounds like a great idea! I'm sure you'll be able to find one in your price range. :goodvibes: Okay..now we had the talk about you pausing your PTR while we're gone, right? Because otherwise I'm going to have an awful lot to catch up on when I get back. :rolleyes1:
