Ai yi yi, Liesa..no wonder you're ready for vacation! I have to admit though, the icy tree was beautiful..now whether I'd want to deal with -30 temps to see that beauty in person is an entirely different story! The market also looked neat..though again..at -30..not so much! The picnic amongst the trash reminds me of going to the dump to see the bears in Maine..the big thing to do just about any summer night...we'd get there and there would always be at least 5 other cars, everyone would bring their lawn chairs, etc. The wildlife spotting was great, the stench..not so much. They finally banned it about 15 yrs ago..guess they figured out it wasn't such a hot idea for tourists to hang out with food near bears that are used to humans! LOL. Very cool favorite thing pictures.

Winter can be beautiful, but I rarely leave the house. The cold is really hard on me. You can take the girl out of California, but you can't take the California out of the girl.

Yeah, my kids will have fond memories of swimming the river with the cows and having picnics with the trash. Nice.

Hanging out with the bears sounds kinda fun.

I will really miss our local friends and the work we do. It's just the place that is so hard.

I can't believe the extreme in temperatures you've had to deal with! That's just crazy. I'm sure you're looking forward to coming home.

It's weird. Guess that's what you get when you're about as far away from any ocean as one can be.

You deserve a very long vacation!

I don't think I could give up my reliable indoor plumbing to do the great work you are doing.

I'm really ramped up for my long vacation! I even hear the POP will have "extra special flushing" just for me.

A meet in WDW would be better but down in the DC area would be more likely. Liesa - will you have access to a car? If so, it might be easier to be a little further out in VA like Tysons Corners or a little further North in Maryland. I never drive into DC because of traffic and lack of parking - if we go down we drive into MD and park and ride the metro in. Of course, if everyone wants to meet in DC somewhere, I can easily park and ride like I usually do. Glenn and Carissa - put your thinking caps on for locations. (we have plenty of time though)

She lives very near Tyson's Corner. In fact, when we were there last year, we all went to a favorite Mexican place of theirs. Maybe there?? OR????

I'm sure my sis will drive me to where I need to go.

As for the crapistan photos, oh my!!!! I think I will stop complaining about my walls that need to be painted, the new floor I want in my bathroom and the switch and outlet covers that DH has not reinstalled since painting one room two months ago (did I mention that he is an electrician and I can't get electrical work done in my own house!)

Yeah, like my DH is here doing water projects, and my water still goes out, and there's nothing he can do about it. But he did build me a nice back up cistern for times it does- except that got all frozen up and is just now thawing.

I got stuck reading a bus debate... giving up your seat. OH BOY. Then I had to post on it. What a waste of time trying to reason with some people. I should of told them I pool hop or bring my mug from last trip and really set them off.

I used to work in Gaithersburg and Rockville, oh what, 23 years ago. I'm sure that area hasn't changed much since then.

Finally broke down last June and got prescription shades. I don't know how they are going to work at WDW. On, off, on, off... dark rides, attractions, restaurants. Maybe I should just go with clip-ons again??

I got mine a couple of years ago. I had money in our medical spending account that I had to use. I really like them, but they can be a pain in the way you describe, that you have to keep switching. What're you going to do?

Not sure. If I weren't going to Disney, I'd be getting Lasik, but since I've already got my airline tix, I guess I'll go.

Believe it or not, it was above freezing today, and rained a little. But that's almost worse than snow and being -30. There are no sidewalks here and the dirt is like powdered sugar. When it gets wet, it turns into something like choco pudding. The mess is beyond insane!!

But, it means that spring is around the corner. Maybe another month of cold then, one month of nice weather before it turns so hot you can fry an egg on car hood.

Nope! 6 weeks of spring, 6 weeks of fall. Our Sept and Aprils are quite nice.
