An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

Yeah! You got a great fare. It's great to have that locked-in.

I don't have anything to tell you about solo touring. :confused3

I'm sure you can do ME with any airline coming in. And you can do ME with any airline flying out, it's just that there are a select few that you can check-in from your resort before taking the bus to the airport.

Woohoo for cheap airfare! A day to myself.. -thinking- I would probably do Epcot as well..take my time at all the countries, have a nice dinner somewhere. Maybe enjoy some libations...

so i have caught up.woohoo for finalizing the date and booking airfare. honestly who cares about airfare coming home. oops honey i forgot to book a flight back i'll be home in another week. (nah just kidding i would miss my kids but it is tempting)
i am of no help when it comes to a souvenir from any where in the world showcase. i like to blow my cash at world of disney and buy mickey head macaroni and mugs and mickey bathroom towels and other useless stuff.
hmmm a solo day at disney. i think i would do epcot. i would ride spaceship earth and soarin a bunch of times. do test track. and lollygag thru the countries. lingering for a margarita in mexico and a grandmarnier slushie in france ( one at lunch , one at dinner) and i would catch every show. i love the candy lady, and the acrobats, and the shows in italy where they pull people out of the audience. i would see the films that i always skip. oh so much to be done in my beloved epcot. please go so i can live vicariously thru you.

Woo Hoo!!!

Now look.....

How much are you going to miss me on that totally solo day?!?

HA!

Just kidding...

You know what I do...........................

Whatever.

I.

Want!

I love solo days!

Um....my dream solo day: (never had one, but I think I'd love it)

Head to WS. Grab a fast past for Soarin'
Wander the World Showcase looking in every nook and cranny. Get my picture taken with Mary Poppins (on my dream day, she'd be out for sure)
Sit and dream as I listen to VOL
Eat at whatever CS strikes my fancy.
Don't forget the Grey Goose slushie!
Hit Soarin' on my way out of the park.

Head back to my hotel for a nap or maybe a dip in the pool.

Go to the GF, shop at Basin, and eat at the GF Cafe. (preferably requesting the same waiter I had last time)
Take the boat to the MK.
Wander the shops, tour the HM, people watch on Main Street
Grab a coke and find a seat for the fireworks. Preferably some place where I could just lay back and let them explode around me.
Sit in the middle of the hub while the people all leave until the kiss goodnight (I've always wanted to stay until then.)

If I've got a full day that day, go on back for sleep.
If not, wander the boardwalk for a while people watching and looking at the beautiful lights.

Mmmmmmm...sounds heavenly!!

I know you are anxious to buy but I really think you can get the Portland leg down. RT for us for August is showing $357 as the best price so what you seeing is decent but as it gets closer I think $120 is absolutely achievable.

Flights have consistently been running $220-250 within 3-4 months of the travel dates, just more further out and that was true over the summer so we are sitting on it until at least late April, probably early may.

Now is $30 worth the stress of waiting for one leg for you? probably not. But for LeAnn it'd be $60 so....just a thought.

The other thing is too I bet Alaska has a non stop to Portland, you might want to check on that.

MY perfect solo day would be during the Flower and Garden Festival, at the World Showcase.

Sigh.

Well, I just got a note from LeeAnn overnight. Seems she was just as anxious as myself and pulled the same transportation trigger. She'll arrive around 5 on the 5th, and we'll fly out together on the 13th at 6:00. She liked the price I guess on the Contenintal, so went for it. Now I hope I can get the same flight. Right after I post here, I'm going to try to book it.

You are right, $30 just isn't worth it to wait any longer. I think I really needed this "for sure" thing, so show DH that I'm not skipping out on this- it needs to look concrete. Does that make sense??

I was using cheapoair for my search- seems everytime I went straight to an airline, it was triple the cost? :confused3

Ahhh... F&G. I was enamored, too, with EPCOT with the topiaries and extra special things to do. Sadly, I was rushed- NOT a good thing to do with 400 people wanting to go 400 ways.

Read my TR !!!:lmao: I like to check in and get a little settled in my room and then head to Epcot after eating lunch at Pop!!!I always feel I AM HOME when I see that Huge Golf Ball !! The wonderful thing about being SOLO is you can set your own pace, choose what you want to do !!
I too would have done RECON. if I knew !!!!

Definitely reading your TR, Rosie! I wouldn't miss it for the world. :) It is looking unanimous that EPCOT woudl be the park of choice. I think as I am making up my itinerary, I'm going somewhere else, but you'll have to stay tuned to find out where, and why. :rolleyes1

I should have given you all a heads up before you left to do some recon for me, but totally spaced that off. Ah well, it's ok, I'll have fun looking for those perfect somethings. :yay:

It's a great feeling! So much more real and having it, is really, really helping me nail down my itinerary! Now, for those elusive park hours. popcorn::

I think you're right. In fact, I got out my UG again to bone up on some basics, and it says even if you didn't sign up for it at all you can take it. Air Tran, I think doesn't participate, so I'm not getting to check in at POR-

NOW, the big question... to claim my own bags or let ME do that. :confused3

Here's my deal with EPCOT, It is hands down, my favorite park -esp. WS, but I really want to be there with LeeAnn (and for however long maroo can stand it ). It is something I want to share with her. I KNOW she's going to love it! But actually, there is a bigger reason I am choosing another park, and that I'll reveal when maroo and I get our itineraries nailed down. (within 2 weeks)

Libations will definitely be part of my time, and I already have that special something picked out. I'm just trying to decide WHERE to get it.

so i have caught up.woohoo for finalizing the date and booking airfare. honestly who cares about airfare coming home. oops honey i forgot to book a flight back i'll be home in another week. (nah just kidding i would miss my kids but it is tempting)

HA!! I had thought of that, but I'm sure I'll be anxious by then to get back and start setting up house, so to speak. Remember, I'll have just moved back from Blankastan after living here for 10 years. THere will be lots to do, including getting my kids into school, possibly.

Souvies... definitely not looking for Mickey stuff; I can get that at my local Goodwill, which I occasionally do. :rotfl2:

Both the margharita and the slushie are definitely on the A list. Once at the Ditch, and the other on a different day. I also have my eye on a Welsh Dragon. Mmmm, mmm goody!

In fact, I have everything on your list already planned! They are all super fun to watch, and definitely the reason EPCOT is my fave park.

YES, in fact, you can do better than that!! You can grab a friend and a room and just join us!! ;)

How much are you going to miss me on that totally solo day?!?

Hmmmm..... I'll tell you on Friday, after we've toured together. :lmao:

WOW! That does sound heavenly!! Seriously, heavenly. And I think your dream day has about 36 hours in it! :rotfl2::rotfl2: I could spend 12 hours in WS alone! :rolleyes1

You know....
I thought I posted on here. But I don't see my post. :confused3:confused3:confused3

I love when the plane tickets are purchased! That pretty much locks the trip in for me!!! You got a great price too!!!!

Geez you'll be in DC.... that is only like 300 miles from here!!! :lmao::lmao:

Gosh, maybe you guys oughta have a DISMeet!

Great fare! I'm like you in that locking in a fare is an important step in making a trip a reality.

A perfect solo day....depends.....

If parks are going to be really busy, I would get to the park at rope drop and do the attractions that I want to do done early (think Everest, TSM, RnRC, Soarin) then spend some time enjoying whatever park you are in. Eat lunch at a great CS restaurant. Head back to the resort 1 or 2ish and relax in the A/C of the room or sit by the pool. Take a nap. Then head out in the evening to another park...World Showcase......probably for me.

That happens to me all the time. I think I post then go back to see if someone's responded and there nothing! Weird.

I hope it's a great price!!

Hmmm... 300 miles?? Wanna trip to DC?? Ana would love the Smithsonian. :rolleyes1

It is a huge step. I thought I'd never get to this day!! Makes a difference in the PTR too. THere's actually something more "real feeling" about what I can post. Before it was a lot of dreaming (although I think most of what I posted- restaurants, snacks, souvies won't change a lot); NOW it's real, done deal, stuff.

I imagine I'll just do a lot of wandering and photo taking. My first day I won't arrive until 10:30 (12 or so at the resort), so RD is out.

Hmmm....no rope drop...I'd head straight to World Showcase. Since it opens at 11am.....or take a nap and then head out late afternoon.....

My tradition is DTD, so I'll most likely pick up Earls then head out to a park; waiting on those official hours to nail stuff down.

Are you serious?
:mic::mic::badpc::badpc::(:(

Sorry about that....

No problem. Actually, maroo and I have been using the hours for last year posted here on the DIS. Most people say they should be pretty similar and are useful for prelim. planning.

OK I really thought those were for 2010. I guess I got too excited and posted without reading all the way through.

REally, really it's ok!! Mary says the 2010 hours should be out by the last week of Feb. so there's really only a few more days to wait. Until then, I've been busy getting the version without the hours finalized-----so I can go back and switch everything all around again when they DO come out!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I think I'm going to buy my return ticket right now...

Funny how you can go months and months of not much real news in a PTR, then WHAM, the magical 6 month mark hits and you suddenly have a zillion things to post and be excited about!!! WOOT!
