My grandmother is moving soon so we are starting to pack up stuff that she won't need between now and then. Anyways, we came across a bunch of receipts. Most were from the early 70s when they were adding the upstairs onto the house (it was originally the main level and a basement, but my grandfather added the second story when my dad and uncles were young). One we found, though, I thought was quite interesting. It was a receipt from my grandparents wedding reception in 1961. She said they had 55 people there. The total came to 135$. Thats for the entire reception. Food was 110$ total (2$ per person). Alcohol was 20$ total. And then there was like a 4$ tax or something like that. I thought that was interesting considering today, over 40 years later, its like 135$ per person. LOL. Just thought yall might find that interesting.

Wow- that is a great story. My parents tell me about theirs when it was like 20 bucks a person in the 1970's and my grandfather just wrote out a check to pay it at the reception.

We saved for almost 2 years to pay for ours! Times sure do change- I feel like the Dad on the COP! :rotfl2:
