An Instagrammable and Dole Whippy 4th of July Trip Report!**UPDATED 3/4

Glad Corey finally did ToT. I had a buddy that I believe was in the same seat years ago, so I can confirm the arm pain. He ended up with a red welt for most of the rest of the day. Of course he also almost had a heart attack during the ride too, so the red welt was minor in comparison.

I've never done the animation class, but I think I'd like to. How long does the class usually take?

Loving your TR :) We just moved from MN (North St Paul) to FL a few months ago...I'm certainly missing the fair right about now :)

Can't wait to read the rest!:thumbsup2

After our drawing class it was time to do another must do- meet the Monsters University characters! We had just seen Monsters U and really enjoyed it so I wanted to meet Mike and Sulley. I didn't even know that this character meet existed into a little bit ago so I was excited to see the renovated meet.

The meet and greet is across from the honey I shrunk the kids playground (i think). It is definitely hidden!

In the line they had the Monsters University college alma mater playing. I loved that!

They had a Monsters University vinylmation set that I have been eyeing and I was really wanting to buy them. I liked the Oozma Kappa frat!

We got a really cute picture with them! I enjoyed meeting them.

I asked if I could take a picture with just them. Best pic ever!

After that fabulous meet up with Mike and Sulley it was getting close to use our fastpasses! There wasn't enough time to do something else so we just decided to hang out by the entrance of Toy Story Mania.

I saw this sign. Even though the park closed at 12am TSM closed early for the fireworks.

The wait was currently 95 minutes.

We hung out in the Pixar gift shop across from TSM.

I liked these T's.

Corey with his barrel o' monkeys.

By this time we could pick up another set of fastpasses so this is what we got.

They finally let us in at 10:33.

Green alien men puzzle piece on the ground.

I took a lot of photos of the queue. I love this area!

I noticed this UPC Code for the game. I loved this!

Here was our final score!

Corey beat me but I had better accuracy.

We decided to head off for lunch after this. It was absolutely brutal outside with the heat and we needed a break. Also my toe from my blister was hurting so bad.

On the way out we got photopass pictures. I had them take some with my camera also. I noticed this photopass spot had the picture frame so I knew I had to do that!

Next up: lunch on the boardwalk!

Great update! I love the TSM queue, I seriously think it's the best for keeping you occupied with things to look at/photograph.

Can't wait for lunch! I love me some food updates!

Ahhh I want a picture with Mike and Sulley. I don't know why seeing characters in different outfits just makes me happy, but it does.

You got to draw Sorcerer Mickey? I am so jealous. I would love that.

So glad Corey enjoyed ToT. I love your picture of the service elevator.

Who doesn't love TSM? Nice scores! What a fun time at HS!!!!! :thumbsup2

Super jealous that you got to draw sorcerer Mickey!! We've done it three times and we did Donald, Minnie & pooh! It's definitely one of our favorite things to do in Hollywood studios!

I swear, I've been searching for that Mike and Sulley meet and greet for years! Yall got some really cute pics! Ahhh TSM, my favorite. :)

Glad Corey ended up liking Tower of Terror. I totally get the nervous feeling because the first time I rode it I was terrified...now it's one of my favorite rides!

That's awesome you drew Sorcerer Mickey at the Animation Academy!

Love Mike and Sulley in their MU apparel. The queue area looks really cute too. I love how they always theme them to the movies.

Sorcerer Mickey is so cute!!! Great job to both of you!!

I'm glad you got Corey on TOT... That ride is too good to miss! Will he go again?!
Yes that ride is too good to be missed! I think he will go on it again. He did enjoy it

Your fireworks pics are awesome.

Ugh, I can feel the humidity from just looking at your pictures. I really salute you guys going in July with the humidity and the crowds.

I love the Mariachi vinylmation!

Great job drawing sorcerer mickey. :thumbsup2
I was pleasantly surprised during July! The key was to go on wet rides and then it cooled you off throughout the day.

Aww, I like both of your Sorcerer Mickeys!

Too bad you didn't find anything you liked at Starring Rolls and that wait for TSMM, wowza!

Glad Corey like TOT, it's SUCH a great ride. Maybe his arm hurt because he was holding on too tight ;)
Ha, he probably was holding on too tight. I love that ride too, it is one of my favorites in the entire world!

Your drawings are awesome!! We did that Mickey, and our looked like angry trolls. :lmao:
Lol! It was hard to draw that Mickey because of how crooked he was. Of course Corey's was good because he is a good drawer.

Fantastic drawings!!! I can never get my DBF to come to the class with me - well he'll come, but he won't draw! He says he's no good at it

Glad Gorey liked ToT! I hope you got him on it again!
Aww he needs to try it! I was so happy I tried it. Definitely a must do for me!!

Awesome pics! :)
Thanks

That is so funny about your friend- yep, definitely the same seat! Corey may have had a slight heart tremor too, lol! I think the class is about 20 minutes or so. Of course you have to wait a little bit to get in. This was my first time too and it was awesome! And make sure you get a desk instead of just a lap desk.

Loving your TR :) We just moved from MN (North St Paul) to FL a few months ago...I'm certainly missing the fair right about now :)

How funny! We are truly considering moving to Florida in the next couple of years. We went to the fair this year! It was HOT! We love St Paul!

Great pics! :)
Thank you!!!

Can't wait for lunch! I love me some food updates!
I love the food updates too! Yes it is the best! So much to see and I like how it is larger than life and full of nostalgia.

Ahhh I want a picture with Mike and Sulley. I don't know why seeing characters in different outfits just makes me happy, but it does.
Haha ditto on the different outfits. It is like a mission to get a picture with every character in their different outfits.
You got to draw Sorcerer Mickey? I am so jealous. I would love that.

So far so good at HS! It gets better to!
Super jealous that you got to draw sorcerer Mickey!! We've done it three times and we did Donald, Minnie & pooh! It's definitely one of our favorite things to do in Hollywood studios!
It is now one of my favorite things to do too! I want to try Minnie- that would be cute. I didn't have anywhere to put my drawings though so they just got smooshed in my backpack and then got all wet from rain. Oh well.

I swear, I've been searching for that Mike and Sulley meet and greet for years! Yall got some really cute pics! Ahhh TSM, my favorite. :)

I know me too about searching for them! I was so happy when I found them. I love them!!!

Love Mike and Sulley in their MU apparel. The queue area looks really cute too. I love how they always theme them to the movies.
I hope it turns into one of his favorite rides. he does refuse to go to the Rock N Roller Coaster though. BUt I guess I can understand since it goes upside down.

What a nice DHS morning. I love your picture with Mike and Sulley, and the one of just the two of them is so cute! When I look at those angry eyes t-shirts, I can just hear her saying that she is packing his angry eyes lol I love those movies!

We decided to take my favorite form of transportation to the Boardwalk- the boat! We didn't have to wait too long at the boat dock and we got a seat in the sunny back.

We had this flag on the back of the boat- how perfect for the 4th! And I was trying to take multiple perfect pictures of it with it out straight from the wind.

Finally!

We got off at the boardwalk because Corey was having lunch first at Beaches and Cream!

It was just crazy hot at this time of the day so I was glad to sit in air conditioning.

We only had to wait a few minutes and we got sat at a cute little two top table.

Menu pic for the live food thread!

Wow- I just look exhausted! I was so hot from the heat that I was so tired and drained.

Corey ordered a chocolate malt and I had a diet coke. That tasted good from the heat.

He got a cheeseburger with fries.

He wasn't entirely sold on the burger. We go to a lot of burger places here in Minnesota so this wasn't the greatest. You could tell the patty wasn't great quality. The french fries were great though! I wish I would have ordered a side of them.

Unfortunately, Corey said he wouldn't go back here to eat. It was around $25 and he didn't think it was worth that. We couldn't use our Tables in Wonderland because of the holiday so that was a bummer but I knew I couldn't use it. We both decided we would only come back here for dessert.

Now it was time for my lunch! I wanted to try something brand new and eat the Boardwalk Bakery since it had just opened recently.

Oh wow I was in heaven with those desserts. I am such a dessert person and I really wanted to try everything.

I got the lobster roll but I didn't think that was enough so I got the salad with pom vinaigrette and feta and apples. I thought it was more of a side salad because they showed a plate of the salad and it looked small. I didn't realize it was entree sized. Probably wasn't the best idea to get that. I also could NOT decide what dessert to get. So I got two- the chocolate ganache and the banana tart! My lunch was $33!!!! And I didn't even get a drink. I guess that is what happens when you get two entrees and two desserts!

We sat at a little table outside. It really is a bummer that there isn't seating in there. I wish there was somewhere to eat inside. It was sooo hot sitting outside. We weren't in the sun or anything but it was just uncomfortable to eat outside in that heat. It was so bad that corey left me to go sit in the Boardwalk lobby.

Now onto the food-

The salad was no good at all. The dressing was really really bitter- too much vinegar. It needed to be a little more sweet. I literally had two bites and threw it away. What a waste!

Lobster roll time!

This was surprisingly GREAT! The lobster wasn't too mayonnaisey and there was huge chunks. The sandwich wasn't bit but the bread was so soft and fresh tasting. I am glad it wasn't toasted. I love soft bread. It was really great. I want to get this again.

Fork comparison. See- it is just the size of a fork so it is small.

It came with pickled cucumbers that were YUMMO!

Yes- two desserts! I am guilty

To start with I should have gotten something different between the two. They were both tarts and the shell was so hard that it was basically inedible. It was flavorless. Where was the butter!?

The chocolate banana peanut butter tart was the worst of the two. It really was flavorless. The chocolate on top was really dark and bitter. The peanut butter and banana mousse on top were both dull.

The salted caramel ganache was a bit better.

The white stuff on top was just whipped cream. The chocolate ganache on top was my favorite part. It was so creamy! However, the caramel was really thin and just oozed out so it was hard to eat. I have heard the caramel has an orange taste which I can see. But I think it just has a weird taste because of the salt. It was really salty and I didn't care for it that much.

Train Wreck:

Anyways- all in all an ok experience at the new Boardwalk Bakery. The lobster roll was awesome but everything else was just blah. I think I made some bad choices so I will be back!

Since I was dying of heat I went to go find Corey in the boardwalk.

What a disappointing lunch experience! That is quite a bit of money to not enjoy what you get for it. The salad really looks good, but it's too bad that it didn't taste as good as it looked. Do you think you will go back to either of those places in the future and try something different?

OMG, I would have been so upset if the animator can over and corrected my drawing! That just seems like it was overstepping the boundaries. What if he did that to someone who was so happy about his/her drawing and his correcting it made the person feel horrible?!? I think about my past drawings and would be upset if someone did that to me! Yeah, they're not perfect, but that's why I signed MY name to them!

Boo to not having a great meal at the Boardwalk. The lobster roll looks good, but you'd think the desserts would live up the hype too! I can't imagine the heat helping you enjoy your food either.

Between the two of you that was a very expensive lunch. The lobster roll does look really good, but the salad just look like a salad. Nothing special at all and it stinks to have to waste food.

What really shocks me is that the desserts were not good. Bummer.

I love the picture of the flag off the back of the boat. That is one of my favorite pictures to take. It turned out great!

the lobster roll looks really good!! i want to try that sometime. i have never been to boardwalk at all. that stinks about the rest of your food, though.

Yikes on the lunch prices for you both! It's too bad some of it wasn't great.

I hate eating when it's so hot, I would have snuck my food into the nearest place with AC.

Love the Mike and Sully meet!

Corey said he was sitting in the lobby so I went to go find him.

Here he was!

Chandy candy in the Boardwalk!

There was like two people passed out on the couch by Corey so I took a seat on the couch to relax.

It was soo nice to sit there and just relax! I did not want to get up. I wanted to fall asleep. The air conditioning felt so nice.

But we had to get up! So off we went back to Hollywood Studios!

I stopped for a picture with the Monsters University topiaries that used to be in Epcot.

The first thing we did was check out Star Tours wait.

I guess it was a 0 wait??

I actually think it was about 10 minutes or so. We went on since the wait was low.

We got a cool scene that I haven't seen before! It was fun. I had my camera out because I wanted to take a picture of the opening with R2D2 and that gold guy but I was scolded and told I had to put it away because of copyright! Oh well.

After this we wanted to head to something we haven't done in a very very long time! The Backlot Tour- I have heard it may be closing so I wanted to get one last ride in before it closed.

As soon as we got in line it started pouring! I swear that happened to us a lot. We would just miss the rain!

Wow just watching this pre show thing really showed me how outdated this is! Still fun to watch though.

These guys were funny.

Then we made our way to the trams to take the tram tour to Catastrophe Canyon. We literally just made it on. We were squeezed into the back row all the way to the right. I was right next to the door and was almost falling out.

I also wondered why my seat was wet. It was raining so I thought it must be from the rain.

Then our tour started!

Earful tower!

One of my favorite pictures!

Then we go into the canyon and the show starts.

All of a sudden the water starts gushing down and gets me completely soaked!!!! I was literally the only one on this entire ride that got soaked. There must have been a funnel type thing on the tram roof because all the water just came pouring right down on me.

I got a little mad at first but then I just thought it was funny.

Disney plane

We came back during the Lights Motors Action show

One the way out of the ride you pass through a costume exhibit.

I love the Boardwalk and I am so excited to be staying there NEXT MONTH! :cool1:

Isn't always great when you get a new scene on Star Tours?

Nice pictures from the Backlot tour. I love that opening scene. It really is very funny!
