An Instagrammable and Dole Whippy 4th of July Trip Report!**UPDATED 3/4

Ahhh, so fun!
Haha, thanks for joining!
What a fun day at MK! Poor Corey getting picked for ETWB! But at least it turned out alright in the end. I love the new Rapunzel area, and I think that the hidden Pascal's are so fun - hopefully next time you can find them all. I love your pictures from the riverboat too :goodvibes I haven't ridden Liberty Belle in quite a few years, but looking at those pictures makes me want to go again!
It was a fun day! Haha, i know I was surprised when they picked him- I mean I know older men were picked for that part but I thought you had to volunteer! I don't even think I was looking in the right places for the pascals. I couldn't find the sign that showed that they were hidden.

Great report!! I love all the Instagram pics - I find myself hardly touching it when I'm at home but can't stop using it when I'm in Disney!!
Same with me!!! I love to post pics and look at other disney world pics.

Great pics! :)
Thankss!
OMG that is too funny that Corey got selected. I was also under the impression that is was strictly volunteers.

Haha, I'd say he definitely had a crush since he followed Belle out. :rotfl:
Yes Corey did have a crush! He was smitten with her after she told him that he was brave.
That is too funny about Corey being picked as a Knight after you told him you had to Volunteer. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I still haven't done that and probably won't as hubby as no interest. So unless the girls want to do it in December, I think I will miss it again.

Love your photos from the Liberty Belle. It's been at least 15 years since we have done that. it seems to always be closed for refurb when we are there in September. Maybe it will be open next week when we are there?
I know, It was so funny that he got picked! I have seen it three times now and while it isn't my favorite it is very cute. I was surprised by the whole experience. Wow 15 years since you have been on the Liberty Bell! I think you need to do it again! It is a nice little relaxing thing.
How hilarious that Corey was picked to participate after you told him it was volunteer participation. :rotfl:

I love the instagram pics from the Liberty Belle.
Thanks! I know it was funny! His parents were shocked that he would do that!
Corey made for an adorable knight!! :) glad he didn't hold getting selected against you! Ahhh Disney building such wonderful memories for you guys! I'm fascinated with how they pull off the mirror/door thing at ETwB as well. I'm going to try and video it next time. Such trickery has me confused.

I don't see a bad photo of you even with "messy" hair - you are just too cute.

I've never been on Liberty Belle but after seeing your photos I can't imagine why we've never ventured to that boat. The shot of the castle in the distance is awesome!

So you're not a big fan of the Little Mermaid ride. Maybe if they had had a working Scuttle it would have been better!!

I can't wait to hear about your LTT lunch.
I know, I want to videotape the mirror thing too! I don't see how it gets bigger. The castle in the distance was my favorite part. I definitely recommend going on it- especially on the top. I like the Little Mermaid ride but Corey doesn't. He never really liked those princess movies so I think that is probably why.

I haven't been on the riverboat since I was a kid. I had forgotten about all the things you could see from the boat. I will have to do that again.

You can use snack credits on the Starbucks beverages?!?!:worship:
Yes, you can use snack credits at Starbucks!! Even on the venti!!! That is a good use of a snack if I must say so! I recommend going on the riverboat! The last time I went on it I was a kid also.
I hope Corey wasn't too embarrassed at ETWB! I definitely want to try LeFou's Brew, it looks nice and refreshing (since there's no beer at MK, haha).

We went on the riverboat last time we were at DL and it was quite lovely in the evening. I guess it would be pretty hot mid-day!

Looking forward to hearing about LTT.
The Lefou's brew was pretty refreshing, although a little sweet. I would really love it if I loved applejuice but since I just like applejuice I just like the lefou's brew. The evening would be lovely for the riverboat! Definitely going to try that sometime.
Great pictures! In all these years, I've never been on the Liberty Belle - looks like a fun vantage point.
It was a very nice vantage point. I enjoyed it.
Hi Rachel, I didn't know you started a new TR!! Subscribing so I can catch up :)
Hi!! Glad to have you here!!!!:thumbsup2
Hi Rachel! I honestly don't even know if I've commented on this TR yet, but incase I haven't I just wanted you to know I'm here and reading along! Sounds like a lot of fun so far. :)

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards
I don't think you have yet but I am glad you here. I hope you get your computer situation worked out soon!!
LOL that Corey got the part! Even better that he follows Belle out. Kadence got picked to be Mrs. Potts ( funny I just posted that part in my TR)
It's a cute show.

Corey thought LIttle Mermaid was boring!? What a pooper! lol

I'm the only one who liked the Brew, but on a hot day I bet it was the best.

Your pictures of BTMR are pretty neat, the Train one is a perfect scene.
He is a pooper that he doesn't like that ride. I think it is because he isn't a littler mermaid fan. I need to get caught up on your TR. I love the little kids interaction with Belle in that attraction.
Joining in a little late! :)
Thanks; glad to have you!!!!

We are planning to eat lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern for the first time when we are there in December. The hot, heavy food will probably be great with the cooler temperatures outside. The dessert looks delicious.
Yes, I agree. The hot foods will be good for December. I would like to go back again for lunch but maybe when it is cooler temperatures. I just loved that toffee cake.
Talk about a quick lunch!! But thanks for the gratuitous food pics (my favorite kind of picture!)

I can't imagine a world where Disney fans don't know about the DIS?! It feels like the ONLY Disney forums for me! :disrocks: (/unintentional DIS plug)

Boo to you Buzz - there used to be a time when I could always beat DBF on that ride but sadly he has taken that crown from me - which is a real embarrassment since I used to work there! :sad2: Oy vey.

Can't wait for more!
I love food pics too! Glad you enjoyed. Yes it was super quick. I was shocked that they didn't know what the disboards were! The DIS definitely is the best!!
Great update! :goodvibes
Thank you!! :) :)
Well, now you have me a little bit worried about our meal at Liberty Tree Tavern a week from Sunday. I hate being rushed through my meal. But Mark really wants to eat there. :confused3

I love Mickey's Philharmagic too...one of my favorites.

Fun meet; can't believe they never heard of the Disboards.
Maybe you can just take your time and not order right away like we did. Or it would probably help if you had an appetizer. It is worth a shot too. I did feel like I was rushed but not too much by the server more like the kitchen!;)

Your Instagram meet-up looks like it was fun. I also assume that most Disney fans know about the disboards. I feel like a dork when I ask them and they have no idea what I'm talking about.

We're trying lunch at LTT in January, and your update has me excited to try the toffee cake. :thumbsup2
You will love LTT in January! The instagram meet up was fun. It was outside of my comfort zone but sometimes those type of things turn out to be a pleasant surprise and this definitely was.

wow, that was a super quick lunch at LTT - I think I would have stalled some before asking for desert as I agree, part of the plan to eat there is to get out of the heat.

oh and "it is really bad when you drop your phone and get a horrible arm cramp!" would have also been a could trip report title :thumbsup2
I should have stalled. I hope next time we try it it won't be so quick. Haha that would have been a good trip report title! LOL it was sooo painful!!!

I love LTT but we usually go for dinner and usually in a big group, so our meal is never that quick, wow! I love the food there though, so yummy!

How neat that you got to meet up with people, but crazy that they've never heard of the disboards!
I have never been for Dinner but I would like to try it for dinner sometime. I really enjoyed the food at lunch.
Wow, they never heard of DISBoards (save for one). Honestly I really am shocked! So I guess you can't also classify this as a DIS meet also.
Haha not really a DIS meet sadly! I am so excited for the dismeet in december though. You should come :)
subscribing :thumbsup2 loving the report so far!!
Thanks so much for reading!!!
Just finished the first day. Definitely subbing! :goodvibes
Glad to have you!! Thanks so much for reading.
All caught up !! I love that ooey gooey toffee cake at LTT. We ate there when it was a little chilly out and that makes the heavy meal a bit better.

Susan
Hi Susan! So glad to have you. I can't wait for your trip that is coming up!!
I love the Liberty Tree Tavern! I've never done lunch, but I have done dinner a few times. My sister and I still rave about their honey butter and the strawberry vinaigrette dressing. So good!
An instagram meet, how cool! And how funny that not many of them are on dis boards. That surprises me lol.
Mmmmmm dole whip! 33 more days and I can get my fix :) too bad that smoking area isn't farther away. It is a pretty congested location for a smoking spot.
Both of those things sound so good to me. I love honey butter and i love fruit flavored dressing. I do need to try dinner.
Lucky you only have 33 days! Yes, it is too congested for a smoking spot. I don't mind smoking (well I don't like it really) because my dad smokes but I still don't think they should have it right by where you eat.

We have done lunch at LTT and it always lasted at least 1 hour! I would be disappointed if it were that quick when I go back.

I agree about moving that smoking area. I think that they should be more removed from the food/ride areas. My mom is a smoker and even she complained about it the last time!

When we ate at LTT, I did not see the ooey gooey desert!! I feel jipped! LOL
We did have a good meal there as well.

Smoking areas should off to the side so people can avoid it as a choice, just like smoking is a choice.

Never heard of the DISboards?!! What? How? :)

Hey Rachel. I missed the start of your TR, but I'm subbed now. Got a lot of catching up to do.

Just wanted to let you know I caught up on all the updates! I was cleaning around the apt and after each task, I read one of your updates. Great reward! I didn't comment on everything though so just a few things I remember ...

- I definitely wouldn't have volunteered for the Enchanted Tales with Belle, but if I was just given a part, I'm sure it would've been fun! Yay that Corey didn't mind!

- Wow, I too find it hard to believe that out of all the Instagram friends you met, none of them really knew about DIS! I figure most Disney fans know about DIS or at least some other Disney forum. I guess it's a lot of info to handle though. I remember when I first joined just for VMK; I didn't know where to go after VMK ended!

- Yum to Liberty Tree! Never been there before, but I love the idea of delicious food, but like you said, I don't know that it'd be great in the heat. How awesome would that have been during my December trip last year when we were FREEZING?!?

After Buzz Lightyear we decided to go on the people mover. There was a small line so we got in it. We realized that the line wasn't moving at all! They stopped the ride completely. We saw workers looking on the ground under the people mover track. We assumed someone must have thrown something out and they were making sure it was ok.

We finally got on the ride.

After this we had a little time to spare so we walked around. We went into Liberty Square and actually ran into our instagram friends again! They invited us to watch Hall of Presidents but I really didn't want to see that then.

So we went into the christmas store.

I saw this cute sign.

I didn't buy anything but after I left I decided that we should head over to dinner. We ate dinner at Casey's Corner. Corey ordered the food while I tried to find a table. All of the outside tables were taken but I waited about 5 minutes and one came open just in time.

However, it was a massive mistake to sit outside. WARNING- do not sit outside at Casey's Corner. Massive ducks pooping! They were pooping all over the place, I was afraid I was going to get pooped on. One of the ducks started flying and while it was flying was pooping all over someone. It was bad. It kind of ruined our experience.

Anyways- I got the hot dog with pulled pork and coleslaw.

This was awful. The bun was too big and hard. It wasn't soft at all. The BBQ sauce wasn't very moist and the coleslaw was way too sweet. The sweetness of the slaw with the sweet BBQ sauce didn't go well. This was also incredible messy. FAIL! The french fries were good though.

Corey got the plain hot dog. He liked his.

While we were eating we saw this wonderful woman....

Full on feeding the birds a massive amount of food for about 10 minutes even with this sight right in front of her! DOH! Idiot! No wonder those birds were pooping all over the place. A CM finally went up and told her to stop.

After we were done eating I really wanted to go get my tripod which was in a locker. I also wanted to change into tennis shoes.

So off we went!

We got the tripod and I really wanted to check out the spot by Crystal Palace where the fence is curved in and where I could put my tripod up without blocking people.

When I got to that spot it was all blocked off and we couldn't set up there until after the fireworks started.

So I set up a little spot further down. Unfortunately this spot had a light pole in the way. I was next to a man with high tech camera gear!

Here was my setup:

We had lots of little bunnies by us.

Corey got a cake pop earlier for dessert so he had this while waiting

This spot was scary also because birds kept flying around us and I was afraid of getting pooped on!

The clouds were getting majorly dark and were rolling in.

pretty soon it started sprinkling

I told corey to go off and take pics of the approaching storm.

Then it really started to rain.

Corey told me to go under cover while he held our spot. I took my camera and the tripod while he held the spot. I took shelter and then it just started to pour. SOOO Hard! Corey was getting soaked. I tried to yell to get him to come under the shelter but he didn't hear me. Finally it was getting too much for him and he came and ran under the shelter. Wow, he was SOAKED! I felt bad!! We waited under the awning until the rain calmed down. When we left it was still sprinkling but it wasn't pouring anymore.

At this point we lost our spot at the rail but I didn't really care anymore. I was ok with the fact of not using my tripod. I didn't think it would be easy to use the tripod with the amount of people.

wow - that was some rain. Though, on the positive side, a guy who is willing to get soaked holding a spot for you to take pictures in WDW is probably a keeper ;o)

sorry your lunch (which, by descriptions sounds like it should be good) was tarrible

Hi Rachel. Your LTT table looks like it was in a great location. We always end up sitting in the mush pot of the Betsy Ross room. :confused3 Wow!! I'm glad you liked the toffee cake. It really is a big under-cooked chocolate chip cookie with toppings!

What a great IG meet up! That's hard to believe that die-hard Disney fans don't know about the DisBoards. You just may have recruited new members!

That is some rain at MK!!! What a gusher!:scared:

OMG that's crazy with the ducks. I mean it's kinda funny to hear about, but certainly not so great to experience. Yikes!

Oy, I just don't get why people choose to ignore the rules and feed the brids. :confused3

I tell ya, that Florida rain really just comes out of nowhere.

I'm willing to bet that, despite previous appearances, there is no way Corey stands out in the pouring rain to save that spot for Belle.

Ugh, bird feeders! :upsidedow

Corey is such a good sport. First having to participate in the ESWB and then standing out in the rain. He's a keeper. :thumbsup2

Love your pictures from the People Mover!

Doesn't it just figure - you get your tripod all set up and you have the perfect spot and it rains. Not just rains, but POURS! :scared1: Yikes.

And - yuck to the bird poop. :sad2:

I agree about moving that smoking area. I think that they should be more removed from the food/ride areas. My mom is a smoker and even she complained about it the last time!
I wish it would have lasted longer. We should have taken our time looking at the menu.

When we ate at LTT, I did not see the ooey gooey desert!! I feel jipped! LOL
We did have a good meal there as well.

Smoking areas should off to the side so people can avoid it as a choice, just like smoking is a choice.

Never heard of the DISboards?!! What? How? :)
If you ate at dinner I don't think they have it at dinner. It was yummy!! I am not sure how people don't know what the disboards are.

Hey Rachel. I missed the start of your TR, but I'm subbed now. Got a lot of catching up to do.
Glad to have you!!!

Haha, I am glad my updates were your reward! I had to look up what VMK is. I have never heard of it but it looked fun.
wow - that was some rain. Though, on the positive side, a guy who is willing to get soaked holding a spot for you to take pictures in WDW is probably a keeper ;o)

He is a keeper!! :) And he loves WDW so that is a plus! I can't imagine having a SO that doesn't love disney!

I have never even been there so I don't know what the rooms like it. It was pretty jammed pack in there!! The toffee cake is sooo good. I Just want to go there for dessert from now on!

Great update! :)
Thanks!!

Duck poop is gross. I don't understand why people ignore the rules either. It drove me nuts. I was angry at her! Lol corey probably would save the spot for belle!:thumbsup2
Ugh, bird feeders! :upsidedow

Corey is such a good sport. First having to participate in the ESWB and then standing out in the rain. He's a keeper. :thumbsup2
I hate the bird feeders! He is a good sport lol. He always holds the line for me when it rains. He did it a couple times this trip and he did a few trips back for the candlelight processional.

Love your pictures from the People Mover!

Doesn't it just figure - you get your tripod all set up and you have the perfect spot and it rains. Not just rains, but POURS! :scared1: Yikes.

And - yuck to the bird poop. :sad2:
Yes, yucky bird poop! You will find out that we had a better spot though :) So all good!

So, since the rain pushed us out of our spot we just wondered around aimlessly. The crowds were really picking up.

We started in the back of Main Street then just walked really slowly to hopefully get a good spot when the fireworks started.

I thought that Celebrate the Magic would still be playing and I asked someone about that and they were confused and showed me the guide. It wasn't on there so I assumed it wasn't going to be playing.

I noticed they were making people walk and they didn't want people to stop so I asked someone when we could stand still for the fireworks and she said soon so I just kept pretend walking in the same spot.

Finally we were able to stand and we chose right behind a path that was kept open for the walkway. We were told to stand behind the line so we were right behind the line.

Here was our spot.

Behind us

Crowds were packed in badly

Around this time we found out that the walkway was staying a walkway!! Meaning, we had all of this open space in front of us with no in the space besides walkers and CMS!

So I took out the tripod and set it up! It was the perfect opportunity for photos to have that path cleared. I was so happy! We both were. We didn't think we would get this good of a spot.

You can see that in some of my pics the green wand the CMS showed up. But it is kind of ghost like because I used a long exposure.

Then the fireworks started!!! I was so happy to have this perfect view! These are the best fireworks photos I have ever gotten so I am happy to share these!

Sooo in the first couple of my pictures no one was blocking my view but then you could see a tall tall person coming into my view and of course he blocked one of the most important things of the castle- the clock. (IMO) I didn't realize this then but I realized it when I got home and I was sad.

The fireworks really were amazing. I just loved how they were 360 degrees! Of course I didn't really pay attention because I was focused on the camera. I know that is bad to say. I need to a trip cameraless one time to focus while I am there and take my focus away from the camera.

Don't mind Mr Big Head

These spiral fireworks up top are neat

The fireworks were just all around the castle. It was so amazing hearing the fireworks coming from all angles inside the park. I just loved these fireworks. Even the music was amazing.

Even more firework pictures...

Towards the end of the show the pathway in front of us got really busy and I could see more of that green light from the CM.

And now I present my most beloved picture that I have ever taken! I am so proud of it!! (tear) Only would have been better if I didn't have that head in front of the clock lol!

Anyways, that is it for my fireworks pictures! They were awesome! I highly recommend seeing them if you are a disney fan!!! Next time I want to see them from the Poly beach.

I know the pictures could have been better if I had better equipment or if I am a professional but I am still a beginner learning so I am proud of them! :)

Hope you enjoyed them!!!

Edited 8/22

I guess we went home after the fireworks? I have no pictures from anything else at MK so I think we just went home! I know I took menu pics for the live thread of the new POP Century menu and then we went to bed. I realized my blister on my foot was bad so I worried about that and I had bad sunburn. MK had PM EMH but we didn't make it unfortunately! We had to be up early for HS.

Just got caught up, randomly one of my good friends got a job at a bank in down town and started work Monday also! Maybe they are co-workers. LTT is one of my favorite lunch spots even when it's hot out! Heads up not sure if you have discovered it yet but there is a dole whip stand at the MN state fair, and last year they just had cups or cones of pineapple, orange,or swirl but this year it says they have floats also. Love the fireworks pictures the last one is my favorite!

Fantastic fireworks pictures! What settings did you use? Did you use a remote? My tripod is coming with me this trip. I'll be happy to get ONE good fireworks picture.
