I was talking to my second cousin at his father's funeral last Saturday, and he told me he was going to Las Vegas next week. This will be his 9th FREE trip this year.
Here's how it works. All the big hotels in Las Vegas comp rooms, meals and even plane tickets for people they consider to be high rollers. My cousin goes to a big hotel, gets $20,000-$25,000 in chips off his credit card, plays SOME of the money (usually less than a thousand, and then eventually puts the rest in the bank to pay off when the credit card bill comes. The casinos see that he is a fairly big player, since he got $20,000 in chips, and bend over backwards to comp his room and other amenities. Now, hotels such as the Venetian and Bellagio contact him and offer him free suites and airfare out there.
Obviously, this will only work if you have a huge limit on your credit cards, which he does. He is wealthy to begin with, and really doesn't need the free trips, but he feels since he does go to their casino, and he does gamble, he isn't doing anything wrong. What do all of you think?
