An Inconvenient Truth...

Ok you do your part and I'll continue to drive my 1978 Caddy gas guzzler, and chain smoking and using a lot of coal fired generated electricity with my big screen TV.:cool2:

Oh and I think I'm going to start raising cattle too.

I hope you find that drinking thread soon. I enjoy debating...whenever you're ready...but, I don't respond to redneck comments.

Enjoy your drinking.

Exxon is backing away from supporting one of the groups who are manufacturing "studies" against global warming. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16593606/
NEW YORK - Oil major Exxon Mobil Corp. is engaging in industry talks on possible U.S. greenhouse gas emissions regulations and has stopped funding groups skeptical of global warming claims — moves that some say could indicate a change in stance from the long-time foe of limits on heat-trapping gases.

Exxon, along with representatives from about 20 other companies, is participating in talks sponsored by Resources for the Future, a Washington, D.C., nonprofit. The think tank said it expected the talks would generate a report in the fall with recommendations to legislators on how to regulate greenhouse emissions.

Mark Boudreaux, a spokesman for Exxon, the world’s biggest publicly traded company, said its position on climate change has been “widely misunderstood and as a result of that, we have been clarifying and talking more about what our position is.”
Paid for studies did not work for tobacco and Exxon is smart enough to see that these manufactured studies were not working on the global warming issue.

In the 70's, many "experts" were predicting "Global Cooling."

Al Gore's hot air and hype is more scary to me than "Global Warming."

Weather cycles come and go. Big deal. :cool2:

Don't worry about global warming destroying life on earth, a big asteroid will take care of that long before global warming can.

An UK source is speculating that bush is going to abandoned his global warming position in the upcoming state of the union. I will believe that when I hear it.

It looks like the Democrats will try to pass one or more bills on this issue. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/18/w...&en=13915b883395d8eb&ei=5094&partner=homepage
Legislation to control global warming that once had a passionate but quixotic ring to it is now serious business. Congressional Democrats are increasingly determined to wrest control of the issue from the White House and impose the mandatory controls on carbon dioxide emissions that most smokestack industries have long opposed.

Four major Democratic bills have been announced, with more expected. One of these measures, or a blend of them, stands an excellent chance of passage in this Congress or the next, industry and environmental lobbyists said in interviews.

Many events have combined to create the new direction — forsythia blooming in lawmakers’ gardens in January, polar bears lacking the ice they need to hunt and Al Gore’s movie, “An Inconvenient Truth,” along with pragmatic executives seeking an idea of future costs and, especially, the arrival of a Democratic-controlled Congress. There was evidence of the changed mood all over Washington this week.

This is nice to see. http://www.breitbart.com/news/2007/01/18/D8MNUUOG0.html
WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sought to create a special committee Thursday in an effort to jump-start long-delayed government efforts to deal with global warming and produce a bill by Independence Day.

Pelosi, D-Calif., said the committee would hold hearings and recommend legislation on how to reduce greenhouse gases, primarily carbon dioxide generated by fossil fuels, that most scientists blame for a gradual warming of the earth's climate.

"I promise to do everything in my power to achieve energy independence ... and to stop global warming," Pelosi said.

Pelosi set a goal of the Fourth of July for finishing a global warming bill that would "truly declare our energy independence."

The committee will be led by Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., who shares Pelosi's goals, said a Democratic leadership aide, speaking on condition of anonymity because Pelosi had yet to announce her choice.

So Kyle, what do you think about article I posted?

The film got two Oscar nominations -one for best documentary and one for best song. Congrats to Al Gore.

Actually, my big fear is that whatever the song is-Al sings it! :scared1:
