An example of an annoying (most likely unreputable) broker...

While I do have my DVC listed on an internet site for owners (not through a broker), he called saying he was from a company in Las Vegas, and asked me what the price I was selling for (it's listed on the ad) I told him and he asked how I came up with that number (gave my explanation), he said, hmm...if we listed it for a commission that would inflate the price too much. I told him, sorry, I'm not interested in using a broker right now. He then proceeded to say well we could do it for a flat fee (no thanks I said). He then began...well this is a luxury item, you can't just expect to sell it without marketing it actively...(I'll take my chances, I told him). He started going on about something else and then I just sighed in an exasperated way and he said thank you and so did I (but wanting to say something else) and hung up. Anyways, I guess there are jerks in every industry.

I get at least one offer per month, usually from some out fit in Texas asking if I would like to sell.

They can not call us because we are on the do not call list. Now if only there was a do not mail list :)

There are a number of companies that do this. They ARE quite annoying. They want a fee up front and promise the moon. Then you never hear from them after you've sent them some money. They make their money from the upfront fee and as a rule do little or nothing to try to sell the item after that. How many times have you had them call to try to sell you a timeshare, NONE, that should tell you something.
