An elf, a suprise and a Christmas Do-over....Our Dec. 2010 PTR

Sooo sorry to hear what happened to Blaze. I can't imagine telling the kids. I thought the fish dying was bad.

I'm so jealous that you saw TS3 too! I was hoping to see it this weekend but it's not looking promising.:sad2:

Telling the kids about Blaze was awful! The crazy thing is that our 9 year old handled it so much better than our 18 year old. :sad1: I guess with him being away from home in the Army, made it that much worse for him. It is still very strange around here without him, but it is getting a little easier each day.

TS3 was great!! Make sure you come back here and tell me what you thought of the movie after you see it. ;) If you are anything like me, bring your tissues.

Just read through and LOVED your reveal plan. We are going on Christmas Day (also flying from Portland) and staying until Dec. 28. From there, 21 of us are going on a cruise (DS knows about this part but he doesn't know we are going to Disney first!) I all about the reveal right now!

Off to see TS3 today with some of our fellow cruisers. Your PTR was a great way to start my day:thumbsup2

:welcome: to my PTR!! The reveal is going to be so much fun!!

Ooohhh...a cruise!! That is quite a group going...I am jealous. It sounds like you are going to have a great time too.

Please let me know how you plan on revealing your suprise. I would love to hear all about it.

As you all know, we plan on giving this trip to the kids for Christmas...So I wanted to make sure that ther were things for the kids to open that morning that we leave and here is what we have so far :santa::

For Payton we have a pair of capri pants, two pair of pj's, goggles, 2 pair of flip-flops, a monkey beach towel and 5 tops.

SAM_0563.jpg

For Caleb we have 2 pair of jammies, a gorilla outfit (plaid shorts and shirt for AK) a swim suit w/swim shirt, goggles, flip-flops, 2 shirts, a shark towel and a jacket (somewhere I also have a pair of khaki shorts...I just can't put my hands on them at the moment)

SAM_0564.jpg

These are the shirts that we ordered from Disney Shopping.

SAM_0565.jpg

We also have some miscellaneous things for goodie bags for the plane. :santa:

See how much fun we are going to have! Up next...the bargains I got this weekend for Payton.:cloud9:

Trish

I am always looking for a great bargain and never purchase anything at full price. It is a game for me :woohoo:

Yesterday I stopped in to L.L. Bean looking for a swimsuit for Payton. She really needed another one for the summer and had one last year that held up really well. Both of our parents have swimming pools so she swims almost every day. I was so excited to see that the swimsuits for her that are normally $28.50 were on sale for $14.99 each....so I bought two!! :wizard:

I am going to put one away for Christmas...I just need to decide which one. Here is a picture of the two of them.

SAM_0560.jpg

After that I stopped into Target to find that they had pilot cases on sale. This one will be a perfect size for her. Purple is also her favorite color. I am on the lookout for a smaller one for Caleb.

SAM_0562.jpg

Then I found this shirt for Caleb at Wal-mart for $5.00!!

SAM_0561.jpg

This morning, I needed to find some watershoes for Caleb, so mom and I took him out for a bit. First stop...Old Navy and they are having a 30% off the whole store sale....even if it is on sale!!! :scared1::cloud9:

I got Payton these two shirts for about $2.00 each and the sweatshirt ended up being about $4.50!! :woohoo:

SAM_0590.jpg

And my favorite item of the day......this shirt for $2.00 at Old Navy that will be perfect for her to wear at MVMCP!! :santa:

SAM_0591.jpg

Don't you just love it? Christmas is going to be so much fun, and I have a great start on it. A little off topic, but I found the cutest beach themed quilts today and thought that it would be fun to do Payton's room over in a beach theme for Christmas from us. She is such a girly girl and would love that...and they will need a few things under the tree on Christmas morning....

I was also able to sneak in a pair of Toy Story pj's for Caleb, but did not get a chance to take a picture of those yet.

I have some catching up to do for him, but there was hardly anything good on sale for him at Old Navy. It certainly does come in cycles...but was a great day for bargains, nonetheless!!

Have a great weekend!

Trish

WOW Trish!!!! Awesome finds!!! You look like you got your self a great start on Christmas for the kiddos!!! My goal is to start right before Labor day!!! With our trip being Devon's big gift this year, I am clueless what else to get him!!!! I know he wants his mini vespa scooter that Razor makes so I will most likely get him that and a bunch of video games and clothes. I'm just nervous it's going to look like he didn't get anything for Christmas! But going to Disney for 10 days is a pretty darn good early Christmas gift if you ask me!!! I sure hope he feels that same! :)

Hey Trish... great purchases for your trip. I love when I go out and get Disney shirts for $2

I wish I could hold it in and surprise the kids but that will never happen because I have a big mouth

I know how you feel about not having much for Christmas...so there will be some small things. One of my other bargains this weekend was 2 pair of jeans for Payton that cost me $2.48 per pair!! I am always on the lookout for bargains and have a few other things stashed away as well. I'm sure that the kids will have plenty with gifts from family and us as well. I think that I would like to make a slideshow with the pictures for a Christmas gift and also print off the pictures and get Payton some scrapbooking stuff so that we can make a book for her too.

One of the things that I did back in 2005 when Payton and I went in December was get all of her stocking stuffers during the trip. It worked great and she loved it. I even bought a box of Mickey mac n cheese to put in there. I'm positive that dad will stay around the pool one evening with the kiddos so that mom and I can go do a little shopping and she will hide those goodies in her luggage until we get home.

Caleb, being 4 is pretty easy to please. :)

I love the element of suprise and just hope that all that knows can keep quiet!! We suprised our oldest son, Tyler, and his best friend with a trip to Universal for his 12th birthday, and then suprised Payton with a trip to mommy and me trip to Disney in 2005 and the looks on their faces was worth all the pain of keeping it a secret. We have not told many people on purpose. I think that Payton will love to call everyone the day that we leave to tell them taht we are going to Disney.

Of course my husband slipped and told his mother, which was the one person that I did not want to know. Last November, we were going to suprise Payton with a trip to the American Girl store in Boston for her birthday, so that she could get a new doll and the day before we were to go my MIL looked at Payton and said "so, you are going to the American Girl store tomorrow, huh?" :scared1::scared1: I was so upset!! I have explained that this is Christmas for the kids and that she would ruin everything!! Let's all hope that she forgets.....:rolleyes1

Wow...you are definately a gifted shopper!:worship: You found awesome deals. I can't believe all that you got from Old Navy. Your kids are going to love everything. The Christmas shirt for Payton in perfect. Now you have me thinking of a shopping trip. :rolleyes1 Unfortunately, for the best shopping I have to drive 45 minutes.

We were able to make it to TS3 today:cool1:. We just loved the movie and yes, I did need a tissue.

I am still very excited over my Old Navy deals. :worship: I also forgot to mention that Mom has purchased Caleb and Payton each a new shirt to give to them while we are at Disney. She just couldn't resist....:rotfl:

I am so happy to hear that you loved TS3. I am looking forward to going to see it again. Caleb is absolutely addicted to TS and TS2 and has watched one of them every chance that he gets.

That is so sweet how Caleb loves TS. When DS (Jeremy) was 2 he loved TS. It was my go-to movie whenever I had to get something done. We even had some of his 2 yr old pictures taken with him in Buzz short bibs with him holding a little Buzz. Back then it was hard finding merchandise. You're so lucky to be able to buy so many things, even $5 shirts.:scared1:

Happy I could help with the idea! It kind of makes the fun of Disney last that much longer!!:santa:

Just read your PTR! I love it!! We are going down in December also (12/26-1/3) staying at POR, so I can't wait to hear all about your trip and see pictures! Oh and just a side note I told my parents the same thing when I was little (getting married at the Wedding pavilion), and many years later I did...;)

:welcome: to my PTR, Kammie!! I'm happy that you found me. I am so excited to stay at POR....I just can't wait.

I guess I had better start saving those pennies for her wedding...lol

Have a great day!

Trish

I went into Kohl's today and they had the cutest Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore as part of their Kids Care program. I of course purchased the Tigger for Caleb and Eeyore for Payton. How could you beat it for $5 each!! :lmao:

Anywho....my sister is on vacation this week, so I took tomorrow off and she, my neice, my mom, Payton and I have a girls day planned. We are going to go shopping in MA. and there is a Disney Store in one of the malls we are going to!!! Caleb has asked for a talking "Buzz Lightbeer" (that's what he calls him) and Payton wants a stuffed Lotso bear. (Shh....I want one too....I have a soft spot for the villans) I was a CM at the Disney Store that we had here in So. Portland before they closed....and have not been to one since last November. This is going to be FUN!!

Now you know I am going to have to be sneaky and work in stealth mode if I see something that I want to get the kids for Christmas since Payton will be with me. I know I can do it though.... I may have to get mom's help though.

The other exciting thing is that we have reservations at Rainforest Cafe for lunch. If I squeeze my eyes hard enough and make a wish when we leave do you think I will walk out into Animal Kingdom? A girl can dream right. :rotfl:

Have a great night everyone!!

Oh, just for giggles....Payton has rehearsal tonight for a play that she is in with theater about 1/2 hour away from our hose and on the way over here told me that it was not cool for me to sit inside and read a book during rehearsal and asked me to sit in the car.....for two hours!!! :scared1: Good thing that I have my laptop with me and can catch up here! :woohoo: the things we do for our kids.

Trish

Hi! Followed you over from my PTR. Max is crazy about Toy Story, too...how did you do the cupcake cake? I have to know... his birthday party is Sunday and now I'm thinking of making some changes to his cake! Yours looked so good!

Just came across you PTR. I love your big reveal! I so wish I could have kept my mouth shut. LOL. The funny thing is we never really told the kids we were going. The figured it out...and surprised us. My kiddos are (DD)4 and (DS)3..really is 2 now but will be 3 for the trip. My son was having a procedure done at the Children's Hospital when he looked up at the nurse and said "We go see Mickey". I knew then that he had to have picked up on DH and I talking when we thought he wasn't listening. Since then we are asked everyday if its time to go yet. Too cute!
