AN Animal Kingdom Lodge concierge question..

If you stay concierge at AKL, are you guaranteed a room with a view of the savannah? I'd hate to pay that extra money and have a view of the parking lot. Just wondering if ALL the concierge rooms have a good view??

Hi Jill,

There are concierge rooms on the 6th floor that have a view of the pool area and on the other side a view of the Sunset Savanna. All of the rooms on the 6th floor allow smoking. If you requested a non-smoking room you will be put on the 5th floor most likely and they do go out of their way to try and meet all of your requests. We stayed there from Feb 1st through the 6th and requested a non-smoking room with a view of the Arusha Savanna and got both. Just make sure you put your requests in when you book your room and you will be fine. Nothing is 100% of course but if there is a way for them to meet your request they will.

If you are staying over on a Sat or a Tue look into the Sunrise Safari. This was the best $100 my husband and I have ever spent.

The staff at the AKL Concierge was out of this world and we cannot wait to get back there.

Do you recommend that view?? I will (hopefully) be calling our travel agent on monday to make arrangements for June. We want to split our stay between AKL and the BWI - two resorts we haven't been to yet.

Hi Jill,

The Arusha Savanna is our fav. this is the only savanna that has zebra and wildabeast(sp?). We loved the view and will be requesting a view of this savanna when we return to the AKL Concierge in Jan 2004.

We also stayed in AKL concierge and also had a 5th floor room overlooking the Arusha savanna on the Kudo trail.

Just so you know the 5th floor is a regular floor unlike the secure 6th concierge floor that you require a room key to access the elevator to.

I had a look at a room on the 6th floor - it was being cleaned after someone checked out... it was just like my room on the 5th floor but the verandah had a thatched roof and the view of the savanna was not nearly as nice.

Tiffany is right, the concierge staff and lounge are amazing and the food and drink offerings terrific. You are going to love your stay.

And again as Tiffany said.. try to do the Sunrise Safari if you can.

All of the rooms on the 6th floor allow smoking.

Just to clarify - After extensive conversations with AKL Concierge Staff -we requested smoking optional - it was unaminous that the only smoking optional rooms at the concierge levels were the 6th floor pool view. The only smoking optional savanah view rooms would be at the very far end of the 5th floor and a very long walk to the Concierge Lounge.
